    (NEED TO KNOW)
The perfect wingfoil does it exist?
For me wingfoiling is all about having fun jumping, jibing, tacking, but also racing your mates and doing speed runs.
There are plenty of foils that are fast and also quite a few that are fun, but I haven't found the perfect combination yet.
In my search for the perfect wingfoil I just extensively tested the brand new 2024 Freeride (wing)foil WS F800 by ‪@F4FOILS‬ .
F4foils is one of the high end brands in the market so when they bring out a new line of wing-foils the expectations are high.
Did F4foils succeed in making a foil that's both fun and fast?
Find out in this review of the F4 WS F800!
    Have fun watching and ...
    See you on the water!!!

Interesting review, however stating that the stall speed of this foil is around 5kmh (versus 15kmh for other foils) is clearly impossible, and that makes me wonder about the reliability of the rest of the information. Some RUclipsrs show a gps based tachometer in their video, maybe you could get that working to get better measurements?

      Hi Maarten,
You are right considering the stall speed I should have said something like:
"it feels like something like 5km/hr".
To me the exact figure wasn't that important at the moment so I didn't measure it.
What did matter to me was that I had never before used a foil of around 800cm2 that had such a low stall speed.
It was especially noticeable during tacks.
I had far more room for error than with my previous favorite 1050(!) frontwing.
Just look at the low speed footage and judge for yourself and don't forget it's just a 800cm2!
The top speed I did measure with my Garmin Fenix 5 which is very accurate.
If it is really important like in the "FASTER on WINGFOIL" video I will use both the GPS of the GoPro and the Garmin and compare them.
As for the standard speed indications...
YES that's a feature I want, but I'm still waiting for a new software release by Gopro which has been promised for quite a while and would make it possible.
I can do it with a work around but that's quite time consuming so I only do that when it really matters to me.
If you are interested in the exact stall speed I can do a test the next time I'll go wingfoiling as I now use the F800 as my standard front wing for that.
      Have fun and ....

@@Windsurfcoach Yes, it would be very interesting to accurately measure the stall/takeoff speed accurately, it is one of the most important parameters for a foil. Foils that use a section with very high lift at low speed can be smaller, and a smaller wing will have reduced drag at high speeds too, winning back the extra drag from the thicker/more cambered section.
Note that lift and drag forces are quadratic with speed, so a 3 times lower speed is equivalent to 9 times lower lift force, so it needs 9 times higher lift coefficient.
I would be extremely impressed if you could get it to take of at 12 kmh.

      Hi@@maarten8868,
I saw I still had the GoPro footage on my 360 cam and I just checked the speed for you (and as I was getting interested in what it actually was now).
You were pretty close with your prediction.
The part were I was going very slow (but did NOT stall) was 13 km/hr! according to my GoPro.
So I think the actual stall speed will be around 11-12 km/hr.
It felt like I was standing still compared to my old 850cm2.
I also checked 1 of the average take-off's for the lift-off speed and that matched with 14km/hr.
It makes sense that the take-off speed is slightly higher than the stall speed as the low speed test was at 1G and the take-off isn't.
So YES you are right the stall speed is around your predicted indication and man it is slow!!!!
That low stall speed really is a huge thing as that low speed allows you to learn transitions while still being able to push hard for speed if you want to.
I couldn't crosscheck with my Garmin Fenix 5 anymore (which I do when it matters), but the GoPro in general agrees with my Garmin so that would normally be pretty accurate.
The range of this thing is just amazing !!!
      Have fun and ...

Hello sir. I'm looking to buy a foil like that. Are they sold in Europe? Thanks in advance!

      Hi Nemoparos,
If there isn't a shop in your area that sells F4foils you can always order via www.f4foils.com they distribute all over Europe often within a week.
If you are looking for exactly the same foil, I'm using the CA wing series with:
90 cm HM carbon wing foil plate mast
76,5 cm fuselage (5 screws frontwing connection)
      190 back wing
      F800 Frontwing

@@Windsurfcoach i'm not able to locate the f800 front wing though, the only one i find is the WS Freeride 80cm-800sqcm which as they say is for windsurfing. Can you send a link if you can locate it. Thanks

      Hi @@nemoparos ,
that's the one I'm using and I love it!
I used the wing foil freerace 1250 & 1050, the 2000 light wind and 1400 wing freeride, the windfoil 850 freerace, 620 slalom, 560 slalom and finally after using all these F4 wings I finally found the one that is perfect for me and that is the WS Freeride 80cm-800sqcm.
I hope you like it as much as I do.
At this moment it's my wing of choice for 90% of the conditions.
Let me know what you think after your first session and ...
