The G&L Comanche is an undiscovered gem. One of these days the public will wake up to how great these guitars are. They are extremely well made, and the tones you get out of them is fantastic.
Having owned a Comanche for several years back around 2000 I was glad to see your review. They're a perfect blend of single coil bright with humbucker fullness. Just my opinion. I hope you liked your trial run with it. They're very distinctive. and suit your playing style well!
Jonnathon, I love the fact that you demo without effects for the most part, so we can hear the guitar sing. Effects are effects and sing differently. So very nice! I am a bass player and am looking to jump into a six string. My tone options are all G&L - S500 and Comanche. Because of how quiet it is, the Comanche will win. The tones, without effects, are just fantastic! For Jazz, Blues, easy and powerful rock charts, and for country as well! One axe for all potential gigs! Best regards from Reno Nevada.....
I'm looking into picking up a Comanche and every time I hear them I am blown away. While they are beefier sounding than a traditional Strat, I don't look at that as a negative - one of the main reasons I've never really been able to get into Fenders are the relatively anemic sounding bridge pups. George and Leo cracked the code with this thing. So versatile, especially with the high and low roll off controls. I'm an LP guy at heart, but have a feeling if I ending getting one of these, I'll be splitting time.
I just got a tribute Commanche and I'm blown away by how nice it is. I've had an American legacy and I can attest to the quality if the build. However the Indonesian tributes are still the best guitars at that price range. Really dig your phrasing and gentle touch on guitar Jonathan.
Great demo! 👏 IMHO the Comanche is the ultimate Strat-type guitar, Leo really got it right this time. I'll take the Comanche over ANY Fender Strat...at the moment I am happily playing my Tribute S-500, but I think I'll start saving for a Comanche like yours, Jon! And that Old School Tobacco finish is just to die for...
Jonathan my friend I could listen to your playing all day very relaxing, melodic and just simply great. Beautiful G&L BTW... I haven't played on in over 20 years... Maybe some where down Road I will get one...
Jonathan, well done review of the Comanche. I bought a translucent blue one on a whim 6 or 8 yrs ago. It was used at the time but still had the protective plastic on the pickguard and was in like new condition. I think it’s a very high quality guitar, much better than many of my other guitars. It has a plethora of tone possibilities as you demonstrated, which make it very versatile. Thanks for your excellent playing and commentary. I’ve been a subscriber of your channel for a couple years now and find your videos to be both informative and inspiring. You are one of the good ones! All the best.

Best guitars I’ve ever played, can’t go wrong with a G&L . Superior quality at an awesome price . Plus they are made in my hometown of Fullerton. Adding to my comment , you can find USA made G&L guitars used in great shape for around $700 to $800 dollars . I bought one from e bay for $800 that was a couple years old but almost unused . It’s become my favorite guitar over my Gibson’s , Fenders and Ibanez . I just can’t say enough about the quality and craftsmanship.

so tough to pick which one I want. The skyhawk has some amazing options and tones, but those z coils with that classic S style body is tough to beat. Add the Espada to the mix and the Asat Z 3 and just too many to choose from.
