If you’d like to understand, he named the Tododile “9 Inches” and then “10 Inches” because in the VOD, he used a ruler to figure out the size of his hand. It was 9 inches and If he stretched it out it was 10 inches. He realized how much it seemed like something else, and then the chat made him choose that name.

The chance of finding 6 shinies in 16888 attempts is 2.1%. This means it was a 98th percentile run in terms of luck. To put this in perspective: if someone got as unlucky as he got lucky, and had a bottom 2nd percentile run, finding 6 shinies would take roughly 107,000 attempts.

Some places it’s different to standard odds like with the starts he’d take any of them if they were shiny so that was three times as likely than usual when looking for a shiny making the odds less extreme

I got only 1 shiny, ever. And i played pokemon since the early days of red and blue though i stopped playing at emerald. Got a shiny cascoon on platinum just this year after playing again on emulator.

The thing about SmallAnt, is his overwhelming resistance to boredom. I bet he could sit in a room for 20 hours, talking to his chat, not even faltering in terms of energy. Like take the first shiny(Totodile) for example. He talked to us about ghost stories at about 39 resets, and his voice was completely fine. You would expect for his voice to quiet down after 4 hours of doing nothing but resetting. BUT NO! Mans is talking like he started the run 2 minutes ago, and his energy level didn't change throughout. That is quite impressive, and not many people(such as myself) are able to do that.
I'm also ShinyHunting live on Twitch and I think the main reason someone can stay in one spot for this amount of time is the chat itself! For example I only have two or three person who write in the chat at the same time and most of the time I'm completly alone! It's way more difficult if there is no one whoo you can talk with and you have to come up with every topic yourself to don't have any quiet phase in your stream!

@@lukkiskeiwalker this basically, and is why I can't really be a streamer. I've tried it before and I've just run out of things to talk about in like 10-20 minutes, and no one shows up. If they do they don't talk either; I've also tried just getting my friends in either a call or chatting in the text chat but they either end up in a conversation without me or stop doing so after 30 minutes.

SoulSilver & HeartGold are also THE fastest shiny starter reset hunts so that definitely helps! I was doing a B2 reset hunt (on hiatus rn lol) and decided to try SoulSilver hunt and within a couple hours I got a shiny totadile (forgive me for butchering that)
But also being able to see 3 potential shiny options in one screen is such a blessing

@@greasygranpapy7529I do shiny hunting regularly and recently had a 2 week span where I got 5 in less than 4000 total in heart gold, being crazy lucky is definitely possible but yea when RUclipsrs and streamers are lucky you can never be sure. Just look at any real shiny hunter who typically have multiple 20k hunts, and then you see that Pokemon RUclipsrs who all seem to get incredibly lucky when they do these challenges. Not to mention most use speed ups.

I started my own shiny only heartgold playthrough yesterday and I'm using this vid and prolly some of the vods as motivation. Already got a gold Chikorita after like 10 resets

I can't be the only one who thinks that, after accidentally skipping the electrode after over 10k resets, he boosted the encounter and catch rates out of frustration and never changed them back
I also think that, the amount of luck he’d have to get to get 4 shinies within 1000 attempts on 1/8196 odds is insane

Two things can be true at once. He can stream it but also have manipulated odds on his emulator. I mean its pretty ridiculous what happened in terms of his luck. other than electrode everything was on the SUPER low end of 8000@@Aladdindoescubes
I agree. The shiny luck here is absolutely absurd, especially compounded with things like immediately catching two legendaries with extremely low catch rates at 100% health. The odds of this many highly rare events happening in one run with so few resets are very slim. And the fact that you’d just so happen to get such a run when you decide to stream and record it on a whim? It’s all just too farfetched for me. It was a fun stream and I enjoyed watching it, but I believe it was played on an altered rom.

My little brother was legitimately playing the original Crystal, and he spent a couple hours trying for a shiny totodile, but he quit. His first encounter- shiny rattata. His second encounter- shiny hoothoot. Full odds. Later on, he caught a shiny tentacool.

I caught a raquiza as a child on emerald version with a regular pokeball. I tried for 2 hours with ultra balls and putting him to sleep, paralyzed him etc. But got him on full green with one pokeball. Randomly threw it just for giggles. I was so confused.

77% of his resets were on gurt alone, which he spent 24 hours on, 41% of his playtime.
Most of his shinies were him resetting so the 41% isn’t really accurate

He's gone through way worse challenges than just waiting on RNG and he has insane patience. Look up double shinies in the starters. There's a couple videos of people getting 2 shinnies of the 3 starters, and that's FAR less likely than the luck he got.

I tried shiny egg hunting a dreepy for 3 months and got nothing. After that I got a shiny Treecko in 47 eggs and a shiny Dratini in 13 eggs

It can happen. The odds of one Shiny appearing doesn't impact the odds of another Shiny appearing. It's theoretically possible for someone to encounter 10 in a row.
@@heartfeltdesu5477 it doesn't change individual odds, but getting them in a row is a probability function with microscopically smaller odds. Shinies have a .02% chance of appearing, and without methods that bring that up, finding 10 in a row is .0002^10. That's 1 preceded by 37 zeroes.

The odds of a shiny 1/8000(ish) compared to the odds of not being a shiny 7999/8000.

Came back to this and realized that ~2500 resets for 5 pokemon, and another 14000 for electrode.
Greatest example of the most ridiculously good luck along with the most ridiculously bad luck
5 shinies in 2500 is such silly luck (0.00162% chance). Opposite luck of that for only 1 shiny would be about 71500 resets
He got 2 shiny electrodes in 14000 resets and with shiny chance being 1/8192 that’s actually still lucky.

@@Tsunami9878 actually that is unlucky, if you'd do (1-(8192))^7000, youd have a 42,5% chance of not encountering a shiny. If youd increase the iterations by a factor two, this would be 18,1% of not encountering a shiny. Since it found two i divided the iterations by two

Literally everything else after: combined under 500
I've only encountered 2 legit shiny Pokemon, a level 6 kakuna within an hour of my first playthrough of the original Silver, didn't know what it was since I only ever played gen 1 at that time. The second was a shiney Zapdos in heart gold, played with a randomizer and it was one of the starters. Needless to say I picked that one

I recently got back into pokemon and both my Popplio and Torchic were females on the first try.
You think that’s hard try going for a brave shiny female munchlax on platinum on a honey tree. Shiny alone which is almost impossible, girl 12% chance and a 1% chance to appear on the honey tree which is hard enough. That my friend is impossible somebody do it! And you have to solo it.
