- Randi Miller has been the voice of Metrorail after winning a competition in 2006. Miller worked at a car dealership and was encouraged by her boss and coworkers to enter the contest, where she beat out 1,259 contestants.
they should put her voice on the new 7000 series trains
William K Bolan they chose somebody else for it. No idea who
Yes metro put the voice of the 1000 series on the 7000 series
It sounds like they digitized her voice to be used as the acoustic model for the voice synthesizer in the 7000-series cars. It's awkward, slurs, and pronounces stations incorrectly (Whiele was mispronounced for three years before they fixed it) but it has her voice characteristics.
Honestly, they should have just hired her to record new announcements instead.
I know right
Guys. I can replicate Randi Miller's voice, and I sound exactly like her when I do that impression of her voice!

"It really does open doors"
Oh please tell me that pun was intentional
Yes it was.
And closes them... LOL!
She sounds like a loving mom. The 7000 series voice sounds like an apathetic robot.
I'm brazilian and I love this voice and announcements, I miss my trip to DC.
But she didn't do the message for the video :(
they did this once with the guy thats the voice for CTA and Metra.
Her voice is music to our ears!!
It's sad that the new 7000 series DC metros didn't keep her voice. The person who does their signals sounds like Siri and sounds so boring
I think it's digital voice to make it sound more "futuristic"
I know, I was just in Washington and took the new trains for the first time. I like that they’re more informative but I’m so upset they used what sounds like a robot instead. WMATA should have contacted her and invited her to do it again and pay her some decent cash too.
Doors opening, step back to allow customers to exit. When boarding, please move to the center of the car.
Step back doors closing.
Step back to allow the doors to close.
Who does the voice for the 7000-series that person really need some enthusiasm
The 7000 Series uses computer voice
Kate Ivona. AI-Generated voice.
Definitely respect and pleasure to watch this,, being an employee of wmata it’s a honor and would love to meet her
The funny thing is that on the flip dot trains, the announcements are high pitched, and low pitched on the LED trains. If the 2000 and 3000 series had these announcements before rehabilitation, they would be high pitched. I also remember that the 1000 series used to have rollsigns in the 1970s and 1980s.
She's correct about California I can't get away from her voice lived in DC live in California and I still hear the familiar voice
Her voice was also on Fairfax Connector Bus.
I miss her voice. The new voice sounds like she’s had a stroke.
Mrs.Metro
Dc metro is good I love the speed and it is going 75
who did the voice before her?
Sandy Carroll
Shouldn’t it be “passengers” not “customers”?
I always wondered about that too.
Wish the 7000 series would have kept her, I hate those trains because the voice sucks.
