  • With a panel led by AMI experts, this webinar focuses on the impact of the recent election of Claudia Sheinbaum as Mexico's president. It explores a range of compelling questions for investors and businesses, such as:
    • How does Claudia’s margin of victory influence how soon and to what degree she might distance herself from the outgoing AMLO administration?
    • Where can we expect policy continuation versus policy change?
    • Specifically, how might the enforcement of energy policy in Mexico change under Sheinbaum?
    • Do the election results strengthen Mexico’s allure as a destination for nearshoring investment shifts?
    • What are the remaining challenges for investors looking to set up factories in Mexico? To what degree can Claudia Sheinbaum address those challenges?
    And much more.

I will say that comments from Mr Roberto Salinas are interesing but I hink he is short on some aspects, and is not just him, but several other analytics. From the perspective of the countries and their population that will receive foreing invesments, is NOT just a matter to have everything to make happy these investors but also a BALANCE between what investors want/need and what the country/people/goverment needs/wants.
Tha balance include not just to receive money from the invesments, salaries and taxes, but most important to have a better future for children and youngs and is NOT just the money that arrive what's important. Sure, better salaries, taxes, infrastructure are good, however, something as enviroment protection, zero polution, knowledge and assets transfers in order to develop local technology and science MUST be included. Trades that contains some elements that were negotiated with China, for example, could be useful to be considered as reference.
Now, regarding if Claudia is going to have an U turn from AMLO politics, my guess is that NOT going to happen. Any profound change in Mexico has to be supported by its people and its population is united around an ideology where Nation comes first.... yes, Neoliberalism failed in changing the mind of mexican people.
If investors see value in investing in Mexico should be not just beacuse its amazing natural resources, but mainly for its incredible people, culture and History. Any investor that just want to pull out money without contributing Mexico's growth, expansion, strengh should go away and look other place to invest.
I think mexicans want to work with investors as partners of success, not just a contributors of their money increase.
With that in mind invest in Mexican technology, science, education, health should be a priorty for any long term investor. And Mexico will pay back very very well.
