@@MickDrivesCars twisting the knife! the thing is though, we have plenty of alternatives: Focus ST, GTI, GR Corolla, etc. I can live with those. BUT we have no RWD hatchbacks at all, let alone a stick shift one with a hot inline 6 like the M140i. For me, that's the perfect daily driver, it has it all. As it stands, I'll need to keep my RWD antics separate from my daily driver, poor me...
I have a lci m135i with a pure stage 2 running 560bhp m performance dif, b12 coils, m3 conrol arms. I can tell you it handles better with this set up. 100-200 kph low 6 secs, not much that will catch it. Brillant cars n55 and b58. Mines also a manual 👍
I do love these, and I genuinely think they will be future classics. Mine is an auto, and I know manuals are more involving, but the ZF8 is so good I don't feel I'm missing out much. Great car and one which needs driving instead of all the clone 2 litre turbo AWD hatches. Bang for buck they can not be beaten. Keep thinking of tuning mine more (currently 455bhp/634nm), but to be honest, for a daily driver it's more than enough. 335 bhp standard, and even though there are so many dyno vids saying they make more, I don't believe them, being in the motor trade I know how easy it is to inflate dyno figures. Mine made 336bhp standard on an accurate dyno, with a realistic correction algorythm, and 411bhp with just a remap. A 200 cell sports cat got me to 455, but there is so much more to gain with a better fuel pump and cooling mods.
Really cool mate, nice to talk to an owner! Maybe you can clear a little something up for me. Me and this cars owner were chatting about whether or not it was remapped, because we'd noticed after the drive that the sports display goes up to 480hp. Is this normal or a sign or a remap? I've driven a lot of cars and I have to say, this car did -not- feel like 335 or even 370hp... Felt spicy. I will say, if I was buying one I'd probably get the auto too. The 8th gear is super long, great for the motorway miles I do and it's just a lot easier. I'm really happy I experienced the manual though, and have a LOT of respect for its owner.
@@MickDrivesCars It could be, although the sports display update is just a software thing. I had mine done when I had it remapped. Maybe it has been remapped, and if it has, anything up to about 420bhp is possible. Mine is a daily driver, so yeah the auto is perfect. In comfort mode it is so smooth, economical, and just always in the perfect gear. I had the box remapped too, so in sports+ and traction off modes, it changes extremely quickly, I don't think I could change it any quicker myself, even with the paddles, so 99% of the time I let it change when it wants to. Would like to try a manual, even if it's a bit slower, just for the extra driving enjoyment though !
@@MickDrivesCars agreed ! but something i think you'd be even more impressed by if you could find a well kept one in your area , a Lexus F Series car (isf , gsf, rcf ) that japanese v8 screams like no other and i know you'd have such a great time reviewing one !
I own a M135i now for almost 5 years, a manual. Love the car, but I am ready for something else... How do you compare the M135i / M140i to the Megane RS? I am really considering buying an RS as I just love the looks of it and having had a Clio3RS before I love the handling. I understand that the M135i / M140i engine is superior :) How do you compare the Megane RS Sport (non-trophy) in terms of highway driving comfort and fun?
The Megane is just a lot sharper and sophisticated than the m140i I drove (never driven m135i, but I'm assuming it's similar). M140i felt like a basic car with a great engine. The Megane just feels like it's made to go fast - much more steering feel, chassis feel, response from all the controls. So much fun 👌 Funny you mention highway driving, I've got a video coming this Sunday which is a roadtrip. Megane is honestly pretty good. Golf-level, not quite 5-series/e-class level.
@@MickDrivesCars Don't know too much about cars so asking a genuine question. How are you comparing the megane to a 5-series and e class? Surely as a hot hatch and around the same price, it should be compared to a 1 series / a class? Is the Megane that good? Edit: Only way I see you comparing with the first two is bhp maybe?
Manual is the best. I test drove 2 autos before getting a manual. I like to drive cars and not the other way around. Auto was just bland and boring and not much fun. Manual is a totally different car.
Nicely executed Mik. Rare to see one in a manual. Sounds great too. Keep up the great work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Aw thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed, many more to come every Sunday :)
It's an absolute crime they didn't bring this car to the US.
There's so many cool cars you guys didn't get!
This, Megane RS, Yaris GR
Then again we didn't get the 400z which I REALLY wanted...

Damn that's a serious bit of kit mate
Don't the manual clutches start slipping at like 400bhp?
@MickDrivesCars clutch as been changed stage 3 cultch mate.

Thanks dude, the car was a riot!
Don’t understand how I missed this post ! Would LOVE to own one of these as a daily (:
haha this was quite an early video before I'd got camera/mic really dialled in. Got to agree though. Fantastic bit of metal.

how did the m140i handle the 40mph left hander you regularly drive in your Megane (you reference this corner in the 440i video)

A manual car is like owning a motorbike, an automatic is like owning a moped and calling it a motorbike.
Have a look at my newest video and tell me auto is like a moped :)
I agree though, a manual gives you that extra 2% fun
@Mick Drives Cars still like a moped. It's not driving imo. Child's play...
@@MickDrivesCars I disagree, manual gives it 200% more fun. There is no comparison. Manual is a drivers car. Auto is boring.
@@MickDrivesCars 2%? More like an extra 50%. Genuinely.
such a shite analogy😂
Naturally aspirated?
No, it's the B58. 3-litre single turbo line 6.

370bhp and its standard? 🤔
They were under-reported from factory, most of them make around that stock on a dyno
@MickDrivesCars - yeah, I agree they made more. Generally made about 350/360bhp.
I have one myself 👍
Mine is keeping up with the rs3s on the Autobahn.
