    He played with the big boys, got schooled and learned a few lessons...He realized there's more to skating than just Quads...For example, having a tripple axel, step sequences, choreography, presentation etc etc. The sport is called figure skating and not Fidget Spinners. mrKpooper4 it would have been worth the gold now if he would have had a good SP, but he did not and this is why he did not have a medal. As for the 5 quads, he is not the only one who can do 5 quads. 4 other skaters jumped 4 quads in their program. And also it is not only about quantity, also about quality.

      KseniaSemenovaFan ... but Nathan excused them above the others ...except one by Vincent (his first quad combo totally beautuful)
      Nathan came all the way from 17th (I believe to take 5th 😲 SUPER WOW) no one else has ever done that
      Then in FP Nathan took 1st place with Vincent taking 2nd over all other skaters. Now that is something to be proud of. As Nathan has stated the Olympics taught him a deep lesson about himself that he took on & will never forget ... outstanding young men
      They are some much younger than top skater ... excited about next 4 years as they will be past growth spurts & pain

    • @KseniaSemenovaFan
      @KseniaSemenovaFan 6 лет назад +7

      Donna L. Padilla it was not to discredit his achievements, he is an amazing skater....
      He may be the first to jump from 17th to 5th but Mao Asada just did 16th to 5th the Olympics before in 2014, so people said to Nathan: "he pulled the Asada" So not the exact same thing but similar
      And also his execution is not above the others normally and for his FS he got 1st place, so total place 5th. Totally fine.
      His scores otherwise not so much...but that' a different topic

    This is why the US team sucks. 17th place after the SP is an embarrassment, and sending a US skater to the olympics who cannot performs quads (Rippon) is an even bigger embarrassment. For a country with our resources that dominated this sport all throughout the 1980s, 1990s and even part of the 2000s, this is just disgusting. US media, please keep treating these spoiled kids as superstars, despite accomplishing nothing (the team event is a joke, and they know it), and unable to perform under pressure. I can't imagine the Japanese or the Russians throwing a party for their skaters who finished 5th and 10th respectively. After a performance like this, these athletes should have been sent home the following day on a 5:00 am flight back home, and not be putting their faces on every morning crappy show. I'm disgusted!

      Diana S 17th place is an embarrassment. But to be able to jump up more than 10 places after a disastrous performance is an accomplishment. Nathan's FS was amazing and record breaking. I think he deserves credit for it.
      I'm surprised Rippon is getting so much media coverage. He did worse than Nathan Chen and Vincent Zhou. Have to agree with you on that one.
      But why are u watching this if you dont like it?

    • @Grace-vk5lu
      @Grace-vk5lu 6 лет назад +5

      They all ended up top 10 since they are determined. Also Adam is 28! Ok, so he was never trained to do quads when he was younger and he is not in his prime anymore. Don't say they suck, your not even close. Why r u disgusted, u r the disgusting one after all.

    • @tristanhnl
      @tristanhnl 6 лет назад +18

      You're disgusted, huh? Well, forgive these skaters for being human. They have all trained for years and years and years, with possibly their most career-defining moments compressed into a 4-minute window that encapsulates everything they've worked so hard for. So yeah, forgive them for getting nervous, forgive them for making mistakes. Forgive them for putting themselves out there, representing *YOU* in the international arena while you watch behind a screen. Forgive them for not being 100% perfect 100% of the time.
      And in case you haven't noticed, it's not only the skaters who have somewhat faltered at these Olympic games. Athletes from other events have also struggled. The Americans have done decently and won a number of medals so far, but overall we haven't dominated as much as we have in the previous years. But hey, that's sports, and that's what makes it exciting. Things sometimes go your way, sometimes they don't.
      On another note, where do you get the idea that these skaters are spoiled? People who know them would tell you how humble they are. Personally, I don't see any self-entitlement in their demeanour at all. If there's any spoiled attitude I've observed, it was from one athlete, and she didn't even make it onto the Olympic team.
