- The shootout was introduced in the NHL back in 2005 and Patrick Kane’s filthy backhander has been lethal in the shootout for as long as it’s been here. Coming into last nights matchup as the Detroit Red Wings faced off against the Seattle Kraken, on the back of some key stops from Joey Daccord, the Kraken were able to come back and tie the game at 4 in the 3rd period. After overtime settled nothing, it meant Patrick Kane had the opportunity to make a NHL history. See, coming into this game he was already tied for first with Jonathan Toews at 52 shootout goals. Ironically, it meant he had the chance to take over that number 1 spot against his long time Blackhawks teammate and boy did he ever do it! Giving us a vintage Kane backhander off the pipe and in! It was a thing of beauty giving Patrick Kane the throne and title of King of the Shootout! Further, it being the only goal in the shootout, it also marked his 23rd game deciding shootout goal now tying him for 1st in that category as well with Franz Neilson. It was a fun one, so enjoy as I cover all that and more in todays NHL hockey video!

He became my favorite player when I first watched him play. Back in 2011 or 12 can't remember the year exactly as I was recovering from a car accident. But I love all his tricks shots.
I fell in love with hockey during the Chicago dynasty 2010-2016. Religiously followed Chicago sports along with my father as a kid, I basically grew up with Kane and Toews. Fav players, happy to see Kane is doing well with the ‘Cat
@laszlojakab5071 kane and taews were the drysaital and mcdavo of tge day i beleive they were best line around for a few years then came benn and seguin...either way chicago was the dwal when those boys were playin in the prime,kane usa product i thought was great really good players coming from the good ol usa

I was watching the Kraken broadcast of the game, and John Forslund basically called the goal before it even happened lol. He reacted like it was the least surprising thing he had ever seen in a hockey game.

He's so good 1v1, this is another example of why IMO Patty Kane has the #1 smoothest hands & skating in the NHL, even today after almost 20 years in the league.
Him and McDavid got the best hands, datsyuk is also with them.
In my opinion Datsyuk had the best hands ever but Kane is definitely up there.

As a Kraken fan, I was already throwing in the towel when it was going into the shootout. Kane is the man. I was hoping Wright would save it but just couldn't tuck a 3rd one on the night.

Being a Red Wings fan for so long and being in the Western Conference the Blackhawks were always our rival. Never thought I would see Patrick Kane playing for us. He's got some nasty hands showing those youngsters how it's done still. Gotta love it

One of my biggest pet peeves is when commentators say they “beat the goalie” when they hit the post. If the goalies job is to cover the net, then they are counting on and KNOW where the post is…THEREFORE you CANNOT beat a goalie who covers the space that would allow a GOAL. They are called GOAL tenders not post tenders. Enough with this foolish statement, they didnt BEAT anything because they didnt score a goal. Literally zero sound logic in that statement. Period.
