I have experience in flat-fender military Willys Jeep and Series 2 Land Rover either bone-stock and here's a comparison: LR: Easier to drive and has more flexibility with its 4 speed gearbox. Has a lower centre of gravity (due to lighter Aluminium body) and thus better stability on side slopes. Will carry a greater payload and with full doors offers better weather protection. Has more PTO points, more suitable for farming, towing, recovery etc. Faster on the open road. Jeep: Needs more skill to handle. Has a more supple suspension and softer ride, making it much more comfortable over uneven ground. Will climb like a goat. Riveted chassis and softer suspension offer better articulation and off-road ability. The transfer case on either will do the same things but is engaged in a different sequence on each. The Jeep's is the better setup. Mind you very few people know how to operate the LR transfer (red and yellow knobs) correctly!
Had lots of little things to sort out, the Land Rover has pointless ignition upgrade which saved it. The wiring on the cj was cobbled at best. Since this trip the wiring was completely redone, or so my brother said..lol

A rare moment in time when Part II is better than the original! Nice job 👍
hands down ill give it to landrover. offroads all you need, handy utility and easy for maintenence.
Thanks for watching, it certainly is a fun little rig.
Still think the jeep would've won 😁
I will say the Land Rover was a fun project, but. I no longer own it and the Jeep is still in the family
What a missed opportunity! Which had better approach angles, departure angles, ground clearance, leg room, storage, road manners, top speed, etc!!??
Ron Douglas great idea, I’ll try to make that happen
Yeah the Jeep is in the lead
I can say for sure it was a good time.
Classic battle of two 4x4 classics.. :: in the key of Howard Cossell

Points n wires get wet.. they run a little funny

@@fastdadgarage-northsouthch4418 most cj5s are cobbled at best.
@@fastdadgarage-northsouthch4418 I have a 74 cj5 with the bonanza hardtop. Ironically my son is eyeballing the landrovers
