  • We conducted an interview about diet and IBD with Dr. Ajit Sood and Dr. Ritu Sudhakar. We discussed the use of spices in food, turmeric, expanding the variety of food we eat, and how to adjust your diet during an IBD flare. This is part of a larger project we are working on, a cookbook with IBD friendly recipes from all around the world, led by ‪@connectingtocure‬. The goal is give IBD patients more options for delicious foods that are are considerate of the different cultures, and the way you and your family actually eat. Many of the diets that may be prescribed for IBD are comprised of more western style recipes. We hope to provide recipes from all different cultural perspectives.     Dr. Ajit Sood is a Professor and Head of Department of Gastroenterology at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana in the state of Punjab in India. He's also the Secretary of the Colitis and Crohn's Foundation (India) (CCFI) - a nonprofit academic society of physicians in India interested in advancing IBD research in India.
    Dr. Ritu Sudhakar is Chief Dietitian at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana in the state of Punjab in India. She has been working with Dr Ajit Sood for more than two decades and has been supporting patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease with their nutrition and dietary requirements. Although she has several other interests, she has contributed extensively to diet and IBD research in India.
