I play HD2 pretty frequently, and the new update made all the guns feel excellent in ways where they used to be limited.

What this stream taught me is Nick is good at leaving out a lot of vital information to someone who's clueless~

They buffed the majority of the weapons and tweaked how some of the systems work to skew the game to be more fun.
Rather than crushingly super hard. Its so much better now.

You ever love a game so much, and play it so much, that you get burnt out from playing it? I'm commenting on a games' journalist's 'forum' so I'm guessing "No."
    That's Helldivers 2.
I love this game. But I went toooo hard, toooo early, and I AM ExHAUSted!!! I never played HD1, and I personally don't care about most of the weapon nerfs because I like switching up my builds (I get bored, these missions are like ~45 min) and I enjoy the teamwork and challenge required to win.
Personally? I'm ok with the premium content. I'm happy to support the game financially, because I enjoy it. It's not a "pay-to-win", but it's definitely a "pay-to-have-an-edge" type of game. You can take on everything against you with the 'basic content' weaponry. Considering the game play-loop though, it will get stale and you'll want to switch it up. But you can get all the premium currency you need to buy the premium content without spending a real-world dime by looting bunkers while playing the game. However, you have to loot bunkers that (randomly) have Super Credits in them to do that. In sets of 10*, or 100* if you're lucky, with the current month's premium content being set at 1000*. That means playing a LOT of games, and (hopefully) playing with friends (or randos) that align with your interests. Some randos/friends want credits, some just want Common/Rare/Super Samples, some just want to get through the mission for the XP, or just out of plain old spite for that gosh darn Bile Spewer or one lone Rocket Devastator.
Unfortunately, if you want to unlock the new content for free, you have to play this game like a Diablo/Destiny {dedicated MMORPG energy} clone to get enough credits to unlock that month's new content. When you get it, it stays unlocked regardless of how much time passes, which is amazing, but it just takes dedication, which most people don't have time for in between school/work/family/life.
As far as "randos" go, they're mostly the same as Dark Souls randos
    Meaning the experience ranges from:
4th. We died immediately lol gg
3rd. GT (good try) last player was getting chased around the map, we knew it was over (optimism dwindling). They died but they gave it their all (still funny)
    2nd. "BACK FROM THE BRINK"
1.5. Last person standing, optimism on life support. They might die BUT they MIGHT WIN HOLD ON AAAA--- ahh they died but they gave it their all (haa they died funny tho gg lol)
1st. I'LL IMMEDIATELY FORGET YOUR NAME RIGHT AFTER THIS BUT YOU'LL ALWAYS HAVE A HOME HERE RANDY WE DID IT GG GG GG GG
Overall, way more pleasant experiences from people across the world than bad ones, compared to your other T/FPS. YMMV
As a show of goodwill, the game could *greatly* benefit [hard] from letting the flame & EMP grenades be released for free. But I understand that's not how businesses work. Maybe put it behind some sort of "challenge-wall" or something for non-premium members? Idk
This game reminds me of Dark Souls, in a "masochistic shy-guy co-op" kindof way. It has juuust the level of online interaction I'm comfortable with, using its expressive(enough) emote system and working towards a common goal (which I love way more than PvP, I'm not competitive like that) as opposed to most FPS' PvP, kill-shit/talk-shit type of dynamic.
The game is still installed, unfinished, buggy, and despite that, a whole lot of fun. But currently? I have no motivation to come back.
The candle is BURNT at both ends, unless I'm with friends. Arrowhead did their job too well!
But from what I'm told about the Illuminate, and the traumatized tone the HD1 vets have in their voice when they talk about them? I'm just sitting here waiting. THAT'S what will REALLY bring me back. Not the compromising nerfs & buffs or new premium content. With open arms I'll come back, for a whole new game mechanic that the Illuminates could bring, despite ALL of the bad press fr, just stop teasing me with that 3rd section of the map.
