- Out at Sunfish Lake Park in Lake Elmo!
This is a weird trail but I weirdly like it.
It's a very short trail system but the black loop has some really cool features including a six and a half foot tail rainbow skinny with a drop off the end! There's more skinnies with drops and some jumps too. There's even a jump with an actually gap! I poke a little fun at MORC about that and how Minnesota trails don't have these kind of features.
Even though it's short this black loop is pretty fun and you can keep looping it for a longer ride.
I wasn't expecting much from this place and I was pleasantly surprised by the janky but fun features. I say it's worth checking out.

I love this place, it is one of my favorite place to ride!
They have added so much more to the trail now
Sick! Need to get out there again. Haven’t been this year yet
Enjoying the bit of trail builder perspective that's creeping into your commentary
Haha yeah I’ve always been critical of trails but it’s on another level now. 🤷🏻♂️. Glad you like it haha
On the black trail going that that one steep hill I broke my collarbone in September and it’s still healing broke the helmet I was wearing
“You can’t have a gap jump! People are gonna hurt themselves!” Hahahaha that had me cracking up. So did the “that’s not very Minnesotan”. Yes rollable everything, where’s the danger, where’s the flavor? This place does look strangely fun!
Lol glad you enjoyed it. It is very much strangely fun!
Guys quit joking. My brother actually died from casing a gap jump. Those things are dangerous!
@@KeanuSwayze my condolences, apparently your bro wasn’t sick enough. Or too sick?
Thanks. He suffered from a severe radness deficiency. Tragic.
There have been drastic changes I highly recommend a new video for it.
Hell yeah, I’ll go check it out! I do have a newer video of there from last summer
@@ridindirt I haven’t had the opportunity to ride it this year but went hiking out there last week and the entryway has changed massively. Lots of good work has been done out there.
The skinny drop was impressive! This spot has some really unique and cool looking features. Great riding man
Thanks bud! Definitely unique stuff there, it’s pretty cool 🤙🏻
“You know it’s cold when I’m wearing gloves” was about to say I never see you rocking gloves. LOL’d at the “This isn’t Minnesotan, everything is supposed to be rollable”😄. Good work on that crazy skinny and loved that you got some 3rd person shots of it as well. Fun place but yeah, all the jumps here need some damn kick to them.
Haha yeah I hate wearing gloves but it was too damn cold. That skinny is pretty sick and scary! It is fun there
@@ridindirt Can't think of a scarier skinny in the state honestly. Definitely more difficult ones out there though. Saw a dude case that gap and ruin his wheel btw. 3 years a MORC member but laughed at the gap comment. Seriously hope they dont nerf this trail.
@@ElTerrible2011 my comments are all in good fun.
Saw your Instagram story in front of that rainbow skinny on Sunday morning and decided to go SEND IT myself that afternoon. Didn't die. Thanks for the inspo! :)
Hell yeah dude! It’s pretty scary. I almost lost it on the first attempt haha. 🤙🏻
You said "weird" so many times. That makes me feel better. I was just out there yesterday to check it out. I rode out on my Cutthroat, not my mountain bike, so I wasn't sure if it was really that weird or if it just felt weird because I wasn't on the right bike. Now I know. It's probably worth going out again on the right bike and trying it again.
Hahaha yeah it’s weird! But it’s kind of a good weird. I like the weird features there.
Nice! That was a serious looking skinny!!
Thanks! It is! I was impressed 🤙🏻
Been riding there recently only for the unexpected features, just looping the black section.. you can get some good air time on the last run through the prairie with speed
Yeah the black section with all the features are really the only thing worth riding there but it’s pretty fun
Awesome to see my local trail reviewed!
Random, but I just picked up a Salsa Rustler this fall and I'm wondering where you got that frame bag?! I want to avoid the top tube mounts if I can...
Thanks bud! I actually designed the bag, got the materials and had my mom sow it up for me. Was pretty happy with how it turned out 🤙🏻
@@ridindirt wow that's sick, good for you haha
@@ridindirt your mom is a G
Really surprised you hit that 6.5ft skinny no run up. I haven't seen one person even touch it until this video.
Haha well I always try to just hit whatever I see. You never over think it or psych yourself out that way 🤙🏻
I just realized I saw you at Giants Ridge! Guys this dude shreds hard😂
Yeah bud, was up there for a bit. Fun place 🤙🏻
Epic skinny dude. So sick
Wooo 🤘🏻🦅
Janky as they may be I wouldn't mind them closer to my area of the world for some stupid fun.
Haha for sure. And I say janky in the best possible way 🤙🏻
Everything has to be rollable even on the Black's hit a little to close to home
Hahaha just poking some fun at the scene here
@@ridindirt I feel like there's no reason there can't be a pretty crazy park in MN. 600ft of vert is totally doable just someone has to really start building the features to match. I think the riders would come eventually
@@jackkuckhahn3268 oh dude I definitely agree.
I drew several of the same conclusions about Sunfish. It’s a bit of an awkward trail that doesn’t flow very well.
That is true but I do like the weird features and had fun
@@ridindirt I think there is a cadence for this trail and I just haven’t figured it out yet.
@@chrishardinger3614 maybe haha 🤷🏻♂️
Rode this a few weeks ago. My son had a race the next day so I just wanted to do something short and mellow so he didn't get burnt out (was going to do battle creek, but it looked like a lot of climbing). Was pleasantly surprised. Fun little trail with some fun features and berms.
Yeah for sure! And yes Battle Creek has a lot more steep stuff, up and down
On the plus side, you were definitely right about Battle Creek not being the place for a mellow ride
6 1/2 feet tall and no landing! haha! But I agree that black loop is more fun than expected.
Haha yeah I didn’t know what to expect but I thought it was pretty cool with all weird features
