I recently migrated here from Xqc, so this makes me feel at home
I was thinking that tutorial holds your hand a bit too much but then NL took two turns and now I think the tutorial didnt hold his hand enough
I think the tutorial could use some changes or to make it longer but less hand holds by spanning it over the few runs u do before u unlock the alternate paths but honestly long tutorials are always kinda a necessary evil in games like this and for that standard it’s really good

@MusicHaven1636 it definitely feels that way and it feels good that way, but some of the more obvious things that are taught over dialogue often leads to people skipping them and u know not really absorbing the information, which isn’t the fault of the game but the game can also accomodate the player in that way u know.
If NL likes this game, I've got another game from this dev I think he'd really be into.

That eating rock against the boss was incredible, I have not seen that interaction yet
If you have the passive that states "rocks you spawn are alive" enemies you petrify will also move around and attack enemy units. Cool stuff.

Can't believe I'm here in 2026 watching the first episode of Northernlion Mewgenica...
Ngl I thought the tutorial was a bit too “on your face” until I watched a lot of people go through it and many things are silently tought.
1) you are set up with spit and sunburn so you learn that you can cancel out effects (both on enemies and allies).
2) that also teaches you that not using you ability is sometimes better
3) Pebbles teaches you to care about knockback between units, pathing and also using environment for dmg.

Yeah it's a great tutorial, tactics games are notoriously hard for new players to learn so having a well designed tutorial and easy start really helps people get into the game.
Also a lot of the act 1 bosses are there to teach players rather than present a serious challenge, stuff like AoEs, knockbacks and Magnus chain dashing teaching positioning, Boris teaching trample and retaliation mechanics.
There are some other tutorials that only pop up if you're dying a lot at the start, which shouldn't be happening if you learned the fundamentals.
yea there's so much going into that one tiny thing its insane, it teaches you that water puts out fire, the fact that it happened so early right after the game told you how important synergies are makes you realize how interactions are likely gonna be a big thing to look out for, it teaches you that interactions work across units and its not exclusively 2 abilities on the same cat that interact, teaches you that more isn't always more and just in general likely puts a lot of people in a more strategic and observational mindset
Despite it telling you what to do it lets you learn a lot of things on your own, it's genuinely impressive how elegantly it explains the very basics while not overly restricting the depths of the interactions
Better than fire emblem jeez that games too much for me this games fine because it's "simple" basic stuff not difficult to grasp stuff imo the game does a good job teaching you things now unless u just brute force and don't try to learn and think than yeah your not gonna have fun but this is far simpler than other ones I've played for hours
Neat thing about the tutorial is that it shows you the move button am I right 👍
