    The definition of "working with what you got". Turned out well, I like the flower you added.

    Great video Jake. Thank you! I really enjoy the way you share your thoughts on the "why" you made the decisions you did. Looks much better. And yeah, that girl was a rock.

    Amazing work 👌🏽 I take much of your lessons into account when I’m drawing and I hope to be a great tattoo artist one day. I’ve tattooed for a few months but had to stop because I hit a stump in the road. But you better believe when I come back, I’ll be better then ever!! because your videos are so helpful but most of all, inspiring. Thank you for your hard work !!!

    With a multi-layer cover up like this piece I would have worked the piece in 3 sessions. The first session would be a black work session. The second would be a color session. And the final session would be a 'polish' session. I usually tell the client that a tattoo like this doesn't get this bad in one session so I can't fix it in one session. Assuming they prefer not to lighten the tattoo with laser removal I like the multi sessions so that I can build up the tattoo in a few rounds. Making certain the saturation is as complete as possible. Just my way, not necessarily the only way. Haha

      I perceive that you are correct often, but have to excuse yourself for it b/c people are weak ass punks and get defensive over nothing. -.-

      jsmyth024 you are correct. Jake and the crew are always helpful and understanding but it's amazing how tough people believe they are online. Haha

      I certainly don't disagree with you in doing the rework/ cover in 3 sittings. However, where I work in southern New Jersey that would definitely be a tough sell. Most customers if they came in with a similar issue would expect a one shot job with possibly an hour or so revisit after healing to tighten things up and make any and all small adjustments. Our form of art is ultimately a business and it varies quite a lot depending on where You're located.... "For your health" lol

    great tech video on cover ups. especially on a piece that's been worked so many times. Even showing how a piece likes this can be a lot of compromise, give and take with what you had to work with still think you did an incredible job. As always top noth from this tech videos. thanks and keep up the incredible work/I alway keep learning from these vidoes

    Hey bro I have a question and I hope you notice this comment. Is it possible to put a tattoo under a cloud background tattoo? Because i have a couple tattoo’s on my arm in different area. And I decided to put a clouds to connect all of them. But now I’m not happy the way it turned out. There’s a huge part in my arm that is only clouds and I feel like should’ve put a design there before I put the clouds. Is it that possible to put s tattoo in the clouds?

    Wow, that's too bad. Nice clean up,! Needs a hard line for the eye sockets to petals to match the nose I think but depending on the client some fine cracks, pin stripping work/spider webs or light shadows off the top and bottom teeth might distract the eye from those "remember me's" peaking and they can be tested with fine point sharpe's in any color almost for ideas. Well it's been a long day to comment on a year old video haha

    I tried to cover up a faded black skull, with a red but after all the line work and doing in some black, the red wouldn't really cover up the old skull. Like the skin wouldn't take the red ink. Is this a common issue with cover ups? Am I doing something wrong?

    • @ivyinktattoo8097
      @ivyinktattoo8097 6 лет назад +1

      if it's newer ink you are covering it doesn't work as well. I often will do a flesh tone session. Let it heal, then come back and put in the main color design. It lightens what is underneath about 10%. That might help you. Older ink is easier to cover. Also if your red is diluted it might not cover as well. Fusion ink and eternal ink cover better than some of the others.

    Totally successful. I think I would of laid in some more white but I couldn’t have nearly done it so gracefully. I would of take a less effective approach maybe. Thumbs up

      Great question! I'm having trouble getting light colors in the skin with staying power. Any suggestions? Tried the 27 mag from an earlier episode you used, but maybe it's the ink brand. I just ordered Starbrite White. Doing a cover up that was solid black with an eye, so it's been challenging. Thanks again for everything Jake!

    I am surprised there are so many positive comments. The added background has no rhyme or reason. But leaving the old tattoo still showing through , you might as well just have done nothing. (And I am not fooled by the different lighting so we think it's not as bad)
