Rishabh Shetty wearing a Dhoti ( notably, black) & promoting his film in an otherwise English entertainment website's RUclips channel by speaking in Hindi about his Kannada film is true representation of India & our acceptance for diversity. By the way, I'm a Rishabh fan from Kerala. #Kantara

Exactly my thoughts. South Indian cinema is all about story telling (and that makes them the "super stars") whereas bullywood is about stardom and money only. Not quality cinema. Any good movie they've made is a remake of South Indian cinema. Ofcourse a very few bollywood originals are a rare drop.

The fact that he spoke in Hindi being a non-Hindi speaker tells a lot about his character. If you look at the bollywood actors who come to FC , how many speak in proper hindi ? The way he talks about his film, his involvement, how he conceptualized the story, everything is mesmerizing. I love how rooted he is!
No foreign brand clothing.. no shimmering lights, no fake accents, no bad mouthing, just a treat to watch his interview same as the movie created. One can see the effort gone into it .. watching this movie once is not enough.. and has to be watched in theatre. Like he said he dint make the movie, some driving force around him encouraged him and supported him and it happens.. no explanation.. while watching this movie I was in trance in a different world..
I am sure the shirt and specs might be of foreign brand. Or perhaps watch. You may say he was humble in his appearance and style and filled with blings.
I am from Delhi and saw this movie in theatre, in Kannada, to get the real feel. It may surprise many of you, but I found it not that difficult to understand it. Sanskrit words helped me understand it to a great extent. Most beautiful part was the tears rolling down my eyes, at the end, making me feel watching something that's mine, ours, of my roots, of my brother's and sisters in southern part of my country. Wonderful work to connect the Indians and understanding the commonality between us.
Thank you. As a Kannadiga, we all like North Indians and all other Indians from West to East and especially, beautiful people from 7 sister states of North East India.

26:40 - His reply in that segment about how the legends of Kannada Film Industry namingly Dr. Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan & Shankar Nag had already paved the path absolutely stole my heart.
Exactly, he is mature and not getting carried away by the film's success. I really liked his mention of Shankar Nag sir's contribution, and that would pave the way for others to find out more.

This has been such a great year for huge Indian films (RRR, KGF2, PS-1) and yet, just 15mins into Kantara and I knew this is going to be the biggest and best film I'll watch this year. The most magical theatrical experience I've ever had. That climax gave me goosebumps! Take a bow, Rishab Shetty.
Being a kasaragodian I fell in love with this film. At our place it is called "Theyyam". We have our version of Gulikan Theyyam. This man is rooted to the core. I wish we had people like him in malayalam who does Theyyam related films in malayalam. There were no malayalam films about Theyyam after Kaliyattam(1997). It's been a long long time. I was dying to see a movie like this and this man just blew my mind.
@@Suresh_Kamath yes ofcourse, it's all the same bro. In malayalam it's called Theyyam and tulu or kannada it's called Bhoota kola. Same for our Konkani heritage too.

Spoke about Kannada cinema legacy.. this shows his upbringing.. we need such people today where negativity is all around, he represents humanity over success
Being Tuluva I am very grateful for Rishab shetty for bringing our culture and introducing it to the whole world with such wonderful concept..can't thank you enough ❤️
it is not only tulu culture. Every Village have Kuldevi/kuldevta. Being Gujarati I connected to Spirituality of Movie. Because this is Sanatan Culture.❤️❤️ No Gujarati, Tulu just Sanatan Culture.🚩🚩
@JuMbO and @Reality no it is Tulu culture. It is not Hindu or Tanatan culture per se. Not all Hindus do it, it is unique to Tulunad (and hence by extension to Karnataka and to an extent South India). There are lots of Gujaratis and North Indians in Mangalore but they do not join in or understand it neither we expect them to understand it. But we expect that we are allowed to take our culture forward and the North Indians and Gujaratis do not impose their language and culture on us. And Christians and Muslims are as much as part of our Tulunad as Hindus. In our place we live together, speak the same language, Tulu (Muslims speak a dialect called Beri bhashe) and more or less share the same cuisine. I have been to Kambalas where Christians and Muslims have their bulls to race. So even if they do not worship our gods they understand and respect the sentiments.
He even directed "Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shaale", which got a national award, Absolute gem of a film. Takes us back to our school days, a fun film to freshen ur moods. Do watch it.

It truly deserves all the awards in all the categories..acting, direction, music, cinematography and art.. Thank you Rishabh and your team for gifting this divine experience to Indian public
dr Rajkumara black & white films on Indian mythology were wonderful 🙏🏽🙏🏽 I feel Karnataka film industry can lead cultural revival of films much more than Telgu which seems heavily stylized or Tamil/Malayalam that have become too commie and always relegate culture to niche art cinema…. Bollywood went down the drain, no hope for them to revive.
Ya kannada industry used to be good in 70s 80s but later on it tanked totally. I rarely watch kannada movies rarely being a kannadiga myself because they are bad or nothing interesting at all. Only few films recently I have watched on ott. It's a good thing the shetty trio are reviving the dying industry. Untimely demise of Shankarnag was the biggest cause of kannada industry downturn.
I don't think Kannada movies have ever gotten the kind of attention that Kantara has! Its surreal and it feels so good to see people from all over watching Kannada movies. Most people seldom talk about Kannada movies unless its like KGF. Thank you, Rishab Shetty!

Most of those people are 90s and after born. Being from Southern old mysore border, we grew up reading about Late Shivaram Karanth and many coastal and Malnad writers. It's not new, it's only new to WhatsApp university generation that has succumbed to RSS divisive forces and reduced once intellectual Karavali and Malnad into communal hotbed. ತುಳು is an extreme modification of ಕನ್ನಡ as good as Some kannada versions in deep rural are incomprehensible to Bengaluru and other city born and brought up kids. You should listen to deep rural ಕನ್ನಡ in mysoru, chamarajanagar state border areas.
I love the fact that he is proud of his cultural heritage unlike some stars who feel ashamed of it. Especially loved that he proudly spoke kannada in the end. These are the kind of people our country needs.

Who comes in a panche to meet anupama chopra? So down to earth... how cute it was the way he spoke about his wife... he gave genuine credit to all the cast and crew... raw interview... after watching this movie my husband read the history of "Koragajja". I called my grandmother's brother to ask which boota is inside and outside our guthu house..
The thing he said about some external force I felt that external energy in that last 15 Minutes of this movie. I have seen similar rituals in my village in Kerala and i don't know bcz of that but I had goosebumps, my heart was filled , I cried and I was so overwhelmed in the end that I couldn't think. This movie is epic in all sense truly. He justified every bit of it ❤❤
What anupama needs to understand is, Not every movie can be seen from an urban perspective. Shiva was meant to be weird. It was a creative choice. Shiva was meant to do everything wrong. It didn't sit well with a lot of people but I think the director found it necessary to show him that way.
That line:- "Regional is Universal..."🔥💯 All my love and respect for this man✨❤️ As a CINE-LOVER, I Demand for both KANTARA and Rishab Shetty to win NATIONAL AWARDS under the best film and best direction categories

Kannada film Industry deserved this recognition and appreciation much before, well said Rishab about Siddalingaiah and Puttanna Kanagal Sir. It seems Rajkumar Sir's about 50 plus movies are remade in other languages, but all these never made impact in national level as much as they should have but happy that it's making now. All the best for ur future endeavors and congrats for the super success of Kantara.
Kantara is not a movie, it is way more than that. I'm not born and raised in karnataka but while watching the climax of the movie tears rolled down my eyes. This is the sentiment the movie portrays. Trust me I am thinking what actual I can write to express what i feel about this movie. I'm sorry there is not enough word left.
How often do we see such a humble film maker creating absolutely spell-binding cinema... Appreciate this man, applaud this man for his sheer vision, because he deserves every bit of it. Another great interview from FC ✨
He takes so much pride in his Kannada culture, traditions and legacy created by the artists from the state is itself so admirable. Regional is universal - so apt and powerful. More power to you, Rishabh.
Rishab resonates simplicity and positivity, the man has literally no ego at all of his recent achievement. Amazing Character 😎 "May the force be with you Rishab Shetty !!"
After watching the film 4 times in theatres, I still want to watch it again. I became a fan of Rishab and watched all the interviews. This one is the best I would say. Spot on questions and giving so much space is what every interviewer should do like Anupama. Kantara is still running in theatres in Chennai. I used to say if u go deep into ur routes u ll find international ideas. But Rishab’s quote of Regional is Universal is more simpler yet powerful. Congratulations Rishab. Thank u for Kantara.
Beaming with pride. Not that being interviewed by a mainstream Hindi film critic is the ultimate validation but it’s such a nice feeling to see coastal Karnataka being represented!!
Yes Kantara is film of the year, Bollywood never try for new contents ....same old fashion, now audiance demanding ,expecting new style of Film like Kantara and PS1...Thank you Rishab Anna and Team ,Hombale Productions House too 😘❤️❤️❤️
Bollywood is a very corrupt industry ruled by people from Bombay. Talents like Rishabh Shetty who represent the roots of our country find it very hard here. Everyone speaks English and Hindi speaking people feel embarrassed. True talent is not given opportunity, good stories are not backed by producers. In the name of commercial cinema, they only back comedy and formula films. Otherwise, believe me there is as much talent here as in any other part of country.
Having born and raised in Mangalore, I can relate to the theme and culture depicted in this movie very much. Annual celebration of the demi-gods is a deep-rooted cultural part of the people of Tulunad - Tulu-speaking community of the coastal Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district of which Mangalore is the head quarters. I have seen and experienced these traditions, close and first hand and am happy that Rishab took it on himself to bring this out to the world. Long overdue in regards to exposing this cultural aspect. Kudos.
Same here. Felt very nostalgic. My uncle had a Tulu friend and we used to go to his house for Bhoota Kola. Since you are from Mangalore you might be familiar with Bhootamastan near Canara girls high school
This is OMG interview. The simplicity in which he spoke is amazing. It shows what a great human being Rishab Shetty is. Humbled by his personality. Thank a million Anupama ji for bringing this interview.
Very true about relatable folk lore, we all have, I am from Bihar and every year we(Mallah-fishing community) celebrate Kamala Puja where demi gods come bless the people. All the local deities and our forefathers talk to us through Bhagats (spiritual healer). There similar rituals followed by Musahar community as well. I also have seen Jagar in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand where gods shows up and talk to people in the ambience of music and prayers. The energy levels is really high in all these folklore tales and the activities generally take place in the night. Hope to see such stories coming up from other regions as well. Very well said by Rishabh shetty, "more local is more universal", it is indeed universal.
This shows the respect that Rishab has towards the art of Cinema. A wonderful interaction rather than a mere interview. #Kantara will reach everyone beyond boundaries of Language,State & nation. This is an EPIC of Indian Cinema. 🔥
Came back home after watching this masterpiece in theatre tonight and I gotta say - I haven't witnessed what I saw in the last 20 minutes of Kantara in so many years. This movie is not meant for OTT or TV - you gotta watch it in the theatres or you are missing out on something truly special.

Wonderful to see him speak.... these conversation will always be special to us and to many other actors as it's first time they are stepping out of Karnataka and delivering such wonderful, honest interviews. It's so damn great to see all four South Indian industries (what North Indians know only as Madrasi films) are flying higher and higher.....all Bollywood can do now is try to remake these masterpieces from regional cinema....Hats off to Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil film industries 👏👏
1-Madras was the name of a big province for two centuries which covered parts of all five South Indian states. So the Madrasi used in past decades was not a demeaning word but a word to refer to people from a geography. Like even after new names, people continue to address countries & people as Persia,Burma,Ceylon. If I called a film as Burmese ,it is not to demean anyone but just that I am not aware about the changed name Myanmar. You can find fault with my ignorance but not my intention. Hence plz don't stereotype any community. I haven't heard the phrase Madrasi films ever . At the most, people say South Indian movies or manytimes as Telugu ,Tamil movies. Internet has helped in disseminating knowledge. Now things have changed .So please update yourself. 2-Bollywood doesn't represent North Indian culture & languages.
@@Worldcitizen2000 i respectfully disagree with you assessment my friend....maybe this change in mindset is prevalent in some metros, but as a South Indian born and brought up in MP, I still see and meet people for whom South Indians are Madrasis.....even now when I'm settled in Bangalore, i often hear my colleagues from Northern states use that lingo....it's just an inbuilt prejudice sort of a thing....maybe you are educated enough, but not everyone around you....and I'm not questioning anyone's intention, it's as you said, just ignorance that is easily avoidable

No foreign brand clothing.. no shimmering lights, no fake accents, no bad mouthing, just a treat to watch his interview same as the movie created.

Wonderful work to connect the Indians and understanding the commonality between us.

it is not only tulu culture. Every Village have Kuldevi/kuldevta. Being Gujarati I connected to Spirituality of Movie. Because this is Sanatan Culture.❤️❤️
No Gujarati, Tulu just Sanatan Culture.🚩🚩

Kudos.

Someone give the cast an award or something... Movie is blind blowing... Man it kept me locked even after tha movie was over.. I could still hear the scream and the track.. Damn... I'm blown away people... Huge respect !!!!!
True Kannadiga taking Kannada Film industry to next level🔥 This is the Renaissance of Kannada Film Industry.
Kannada pride. Kannada power. Tuluva power.
Tuluvas making Karnataka proud🔥
He is the only man i have ever seen in my kannada industry or in any other industry who talks about the old legendary film makers and getting there names back in all interviews. hatsoff rishabh😍
His humility is paramount.. one of the many takeaways from the conversation..
Outstanding Rishab 👌🏽
I don't speak Kannada but still I really enjoyed every scene of this awesome movie 👍🏽
Thanks to all the people who were involved to make this masterpiece 🙏🏾
Kannada pride. Kannada power.
What a guy! He is as grounded and rooted as his story. Kudos and hats off to RISHABH SHETTY! Much love and respect.
The last time I got lost in the trance of a movie was after watching "Tumbbad", and now it's "Kantara". Both are made by passionate people.
Exactly 💯 both these films will make you go into a trance zone...
Ya tumbadd is an amazing experience. Not just a movie. We get lost in that world. So old, dark world yet amazing and beautiful feeling..
Tumbaad was killed by Bollywood... What a master peace... Being a kannadiga i am so proud of Kantara... And a big fan of tumbaad.
Just love the way boss is dropping kannada words in the mix there.
Proper BOSS 😻🔥🔥🔥
Kantara is a memorable gift from the makers and Rishabh to the cinema world in the post covid era❣️
The more local you go, the more global you become ❤
