Saw The Angels many times back in the mid 80’s. Doc was always amazing.
Doc lived in my town for a while. Used to see him crossing at the lights when I was doing the afternoon school run. He came into my work. I called him Mr Neeson and he replied “call me Doc. My friends call me Doc”. He was charming and very polite.

We were so lucky growing up with this Aussie rock as the soundtrack of our youth.
Then we passed it on to our kids.
I sat down with my daughter, the evening Doc Neeson died and we were cranking some old school Angels.
The next day my 8 year old daughter came home from school and said a boy in her class was singing "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again?"
His Dad had sat down with his son and did the exact same thing.
Both kids agreed their dad's played the same songs and they both cried.

Most under rated aussie band in my opinion. Loved them so much , seen them live so many times in the 80s. They have so many good songs, particularly from their first few albums. Funnily enough they asked Doc in an interview once what was his favorite Angels song. He said "Be with you" which starts of very slow, even romantic , builds up to a good beat, but nothing like most of their high octane rock hits.
    RIP Doc

Living in Sydney my entire life, in the 1970-80's there were some great pub and club bands. I loved me music... and had amassed a 1500 album collection and played them on a Technics SL1200MkII turntable with a $450 Garret stylus. These records were all kept in pristine condition. The Angels "Face to Face" was one of my favourite albums. These tracks 'sent me' to another place every time. Bit of history: They used to be called the Blue Angels and once 'backed' Chuck Berry when he toured, anyone recall the Horden Pavillion? I say 'backed' because Berry had problems with their timing or chord changes or something, anyway he stopped half-way in a song to 'school' them. However, as you can hear Mr Rock N Roll, they sure mastered 'that groove' pretty darn well by this album. BTW: Seeing your passion for our great R'nR groups, I think we should make you an honourary Aussie. Cheers Bro! From Sydney Australia.

Always gets the biggest reaction when played live , or even in a pub even my 17yo knows of it & it was released in 1977. Need to look at the live version as that tells it all. Originally as a single wasnt popular but go to any concert in Australia when The Angels play this song watch & listen to the crowd. You will not sit in your seat for this. This was there first single passed on by members of AC/DC to George Young & Harry Vanda, after they supported them in Aus. These 2 bands have a lot of history back then.

The greatest concert I ever went to and I been to a fair few of them was AC/DC in Melbourne Australia 1980 Back in Black and The Angels were the opening act. Pure head banging heaven. Just waiting for Power Up world tour and I can die in piece.

Was there too. From memory the choir boys were the third band? Unbelievable night and was a battlefield getting out of the gardens and on the train home. Unbelievable night.

Seen these guys 4 times in the last year as I live in Adelaide. I was lucky to also meet the whole band behind stage, they are a bunch of amazing people and they put on amazing and entertainmenting shows. I was wearing a pantera shirt and Dave gleeson started talking to me about PANTERA! Bunch of Aussie legends 🤙

This is best reaction to any video I have ever seen on YT. The Angels were an amazing band. They were mainly based here in Adelaide - South Australia.
I have seen them live so many times. This is my all time favorite aussie song. It's raw, fast and fun.
Mr Rock Roll you are a legend!

Nirvana, Guns n Roses & Pearl Jam members saw The Angels, aka Angel City, aka The Angels From Angel City, when they toured the US & were fans.
Check their two hardest tracks, Run For The Shelter &, Mr. Damage.

Aussie Rock band "Baby Animals" (female aussie vocals)are great too, and still tour with The Angels. Try their songs 'Aint gonna get my love tonite', 'Early Warning', 'One Word'. Another great Aussie band of the 70s "Skyhooks" you will like too ...try their songs, 'Party to end all Parties', and 'Horror Movie', and 'You just like me coz im good in bed'.

Seen them in about 86. One of the Guitarists cracked onto me. Was a time when the bands would walk around the place hanging out before and after the show. Good times. Last time i seen the band with Doc still fronting was when they did a show in Melbourne with Bret Michaels and Motley Crue. Then last time was with the screaming Jets frontman fronting. He did a damn fine job. The crowd was going off. Im sure Doc would have been proud. :)

Agreed ...Dave Gleeson does an awesome job, without trying to 'replace' Doc ...he just rocks on with the band, as does the audience. Only saw Doc play live once, then saw the Brewster brothers as "The Angels BAND'", and seen Dave fronting the Angels several times. Every gig is awesome, no matter whos in the lineup. It just Rocks as one with the crowd. Will keep seeing them throughout any future changes in the lineup too. It will always be good aussie rock n fun times.

Saw Angels and Rose Tattoo when they supported ZZtop in the 80's. Angels wiped Zztop off the stage - No comparison. Zz top were more polished but for raw power and stage presence ANGELS all the way.

Alexander from the dark room album i learned guitar on angels music and lead guitar. My early 20s was full of angels and acdc. Thanks i havent listened to this song for many years. Doc neeson gave 150 precent every show, he was as animated as you are. Another artists that got ripped off by his management. Died broke in 2014 from a brain tumor. R.I.P Doc

During the late 70's and early 80's The Angels along with Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, INXS were the foremost bands. All of them spent their apprenticeships playing pubs on a Friday and Saturday night. This is the soundtrack of my youth. If you want something from The Angels this is more mellow try Be With You.

Radiators, Hoodoo Gurus, Australian Crawl, Rose Tattoo, Divinyls, H&C, Icehouse, Models, Mentals, Sky Hooks, Sunny Boys, Nick Cave, Paul Kelly, Dragon, saints, Goanna, Choirboys, The Church were all up there with The Oils and Chisel. INXS got their big break overseas for all the good it did them. You managed to get the most commercial acts, not the foremost acts.
