    Our 200 was our year round do it all tractor. Seeded over 1000 acres most years, it was working hard but weighted right and much cheaper to run than the 8550. Wish I could buy her. It's a steal

      No longer for sale. No takers and I found a use for it. Blew snow with it today in fact.

    My 200 is the best tractor I've ever owned. Really easy on the fuel & no end to the pull.

    Did all the 200’s have telescoping steering wheels? Also what is the difference on this Power Director from 190’s and early 200’s you mentioned?

      I think the telescoping steering wheel was an option I think sometime in 1973 at serial number 4001 and up. On the Power Director, the difference is in the shift control. The Later style, starting at serial number 4001, was the easier Power Director to shift. With the 190 and early 200 you grabbed the lever and pushed it down against a spring and then moved the lever forward or backwards to power shift from low to high or visa versa or into neutral. The lever would slip into a detent to hold it in place. Not bad but a kid might have trouble fighting the spring to shift.
      From serial number 4001 and onward, the 200 used a gated shift that just required you to move the lever to the left slightly and then forward or rearward to shift. Very easy to do and a light spring would hold the lever to the right in the high gate, neutral gate or low gate.

      @@SilverGleaner thank you for the information! I’m looking at potentially getting an XT or 200 in the future.

    Is the high and low power shift on these or do you have to use the clutch with it?

    • @SilverGleaner

      No clutching from lo to ho or hi to lo. It is a two speed power shift.

      @@SilverGleaner thank you! Watching through your videos as I have an opportunity to acquire a 200, but I’ve been a John Deere guy my whole life. Just trying to learn what I can about them.

      @@AndyCrumbaker Remember that a 200 has live PTO but not independent PTO. If you push in the foot clutch the PTO stops so you use the Power Director instead by putting the lever in the neutral position. I prefer that in many situations except round baling and blowing snow. In those cases I prefer my 7050 or my brother's 7030 which have independent PTO. With the 200 I doubt you will find an equivalent age and size tractor with the fuel economy a 200 has. Really a fun tractor to drive.

      @@SilverGleaner thanks for the info! Grandad bought this one brand new and now that he’s passed I have the opportunity to keep it if I so chose to. It’s got leaks everywhere on it and the paint is pretty bad, but I believe it still runs and shifts ok. Just will need a lot of work. Most likely if I do keep it it’ll just be taken to shows and things with my 4020 deere.

      @@AndyCrumbaker If it were my grandpa's tractor then I would go for it and make it a fun project.Tackle one leak at a time. Good luck

      RJ 1999 how much are new grilles?

    • @RJ1999x
      @RJ1999x 6 лет назад +1

      Brad Hill just so you understand it's the grille screen, not the full surround. On eBay they're $299 direct their cheaper and I have one with a flaw you could have for $200
