I can only thank you again and again for your videos, Milton! I have learnt so much from them.
I find the trunk exceptionally beautiful. I wish I had a tree with a trunk like that. Well, maybe I'll see something similar in the forest one day by chance. Then I won't hesitate to grab a shovel. 😂

I have no concern about the new growth "rhyming" with the old trunk. There's something beautiful about the image of a damaged or fallen tree trying to rejuvenate itself. I find this among the most interesting of your projects.

I like the tree; it will be specular 5 years out n the apex truck gets thicker.

    Thank you, Milton.
I saved this video so that in the spring I can revisit your process.
We have 20 yews that are about 80 years old and 9+ feel tall. Next year I will cut them to about 2 feet from ground level and allow them to regrow. We also what look like Hinoki Cypress the same age.
I plan to turn them into bonsai.

Not as easy as it sounds there bud.
U gotta put in more hours than a Doctor or engineer. Even if u spend 1 hr a day for 20yrs...does that make u a master? Not even close.

I've been growing plants in pots since I was 5yrs old hence my 1st was a cactus. Have close 100 trees now and 42 yrs old...am I a Bonsai Master? I am not so sure.

Yes you can!isto think through things to avoid nonsense.
Truly an example of give to get ...in this case in a convoluted way.

Man, that's my favorite part, "Oh I was planning to use that branch, and it broke!...Well, you have lemons, you make lemonade." We have a somewhat famous Sweetgum tree in our area, who fell over do to the ridge collapsing underneath. Now four of her branches are trees, with all of their root systems holding the tree up while she placidly continues to grow sideways with no problem. It looks like the family taking care of grandma, so we all get a little misty eyed. But this project seems the same, when something breaks up, you just go better places.

Could you do a video on carving trees to look more natural? I would (no pun intended) have no idea where to begin.
