- Shopping for Chanel in a second hand shop! I hope you enjoy watching. I visited Luxury Promise in London because I am selling some bags. Thought I'd check out what stock they have right now while showing them pics of the bags I'm thinking of selling.

I don’t know much about handbags but if I was buying Chanel, I’d go vintage for sure. The actual Chanel stores / brand seem like they’re ran by internet trolls out doing some kind of social experiment. I hope you enjoyed your day out. Also Zadig et Voltaire is great, I had jeans from there for 10 years and only recycled them recently because the arse finally gave way when ironing them 😂

I have many 90s Chanel catalogs including the one in the video with Claudia Schiffer. I used to write to the Chanel boutique on rue Cambon in Paris as a teenager and they would always send me a catalog with a note. They were so kind and made me feel so special!

Hi Sophie ! Any chance to "friendly" interview Luxury Promise's ladies ( owners) : how they got into vintage luxury, how they pick/select handbags, clothes etc ? I thought when you run the vintage luxury boutique your expertise , knowledge of former collections etc must be quite impressive.
That's a great suggestion Joanna - and you know, the story is quite an interesting one as I've asked the owner before! It all started with an Hermes Kelly apparently. Let me see if she'll let me film her telling the story...

You are correct- pretty much anything Hermes is a good investment. I realize so many people are aware of the so called “game” Hermes plays but it really comes down to the particular boutique and SA. My best friend went to Hermes in Dallas Tx and walked out with her dream Kelly, with no previous shopping history other than a belt. It really depends, but she should shoot for the bag she really wants, then if that doesn’t work go for the Kelly to go version.
Thanks for sharing Sophie, the pink satin evening bag looks so lovely on you. I can’t imagine indulging Chanel’s absolutely ludicrous pricing whims these days, especially when they put out such substandard products. It’s vintage all the way for me. Better construction, better materials, better designs, better colorways… investment bags to last a lifetime. For (ironically) less of an investment!
How do you feel about the vintage Diana? My small lambskin Diana has become my go-to Chanel and I can’t believe I’m reaching for it more than my classic flaps! Xx
That is so true about Chanel. The funny thing is that for years and years I dreamed of having a Chanel bag. Now that I am in a position to buy any bag I like I no longer want Chanel. It's the ludicrous price increases that have turned me off.
I've only bought preloved Chanel my whole time collecting Chanel bags. You can get some really good deals! I have 9 Chanel bags all preloved because I never thought I could afford them in store in my 20s and it's looking like it's getting even further reach to do so... I'm thankful for it now! The prices are crazy. Even preloved went up so much since I started. 😳

For the mail time, I am not an Hermès customer so can’t offer advice there but in general I believe that she would be settling by getting the other. It’s beautiful but if she truly wants the mini Kelly, I would recommend going the pre-loved route. I’m also not a fan of the Hermes game and would not consider it for myself either🤍

I really feel the history and care of the luxury brand then and their respective previous owners. The quality of items back then seems to be more durable and amazing!
You and I are the same with preloved Jazzel! I love the history...wondering who owned it before and where they might have worn it. It's also nice to feel like you've snagged a good deal on something that is excellent quality xx

So many comments :-) but here an advise from an Hermes customer to the lady: she should buy the Kelly To Go because it counts as prespend for the Kelly and she can sell the Kelly to Go later on for more than the boutique price!

The mini kelly doesn’t fit a lot more then the kelly on the go😇 but If your heart is set on a kelly bag then go for the kelly and don’t settle for less.

Sophie your videos do not ever get boring,doesn't seem like same thing over and over,I guess I like the same things that's what brings alot of us together, sharing. I wasn't aware of the price of barbie bag but but sure loved the two you styled,if money wasn't an issue I would say both,the small one looked liked small damage to the left area of flap,close to closure.Really love the shop.I sometimes go eat or shop alone,I know what you mean I would rather hubby go with, but not always able,because work,it doesn't get in the way much,we are retired but he still contracts some,so when work calls we work.I love the content and agree with you about the advice for the young lady about saving for the handbag,just keep saving.You give very good advice,that's all any of us can do,your channel has great subscribers that give good advice too.I want to email you about the people now doing luxury styling,lifestyle ect.just a quick word about it,won't go on but getting very tired of how some start out,then start using thier videos for platforms other than keeping it real...with politics,disagreements with others.It takes the fun out of the original reason they started out.Do you see this more and more,I'm only watching a very few now.Thank you for keeping such lovely videos. 😍💕🛍👜👛

Concerning Hermès: try the Paris flagship store, talk to an SA and show a lot of enthusiasm for the brand. They might show you a bag or two without any previous purchase history. Of course the changes of it being a Kelly mini are slim... but don't settle for anything less.
Wow! that Celine bag is everything, I'm really eyeing it haha. I also like the flat quilting of the vintage Chanel bags more than the ones they have now. The bag looks more "simple" in a way, but it makes the amazing craftmanship of the stitching pop more rather than the surface of the puffy diamond shapes (if that makes sense!)

Love this video! I have switched to almost exclusively shopping pre-loved for all the reasons you mention. As for the Chanel jacket you modeled at luxury promise... that looks like one of their terry cloth beach cover ups from a cruise collection. the color combination (blue and orange) is fantastic- fingers crossed you pulled the trigger and cna give us an update.
The Hermes Kelly To Go isn’t a quota bag however it’s generally out of stock. If you want an Hermes bag but don’t want to play the game, make a wish list with an SA you don’t have to put only quota bags on your wish list. I would say in the mean time it could t hurt to look at purchasing SLGs etc. with Hermes it is all about your SA relationship so focus on that.
Hi Sophie, this is not good 2hrs late!!!! But I have a great excuse....wait for it....we had 2 young bulls wander up our laneway and cause general havoc before we could get them locked into a yard. Then one got stuck in a ring feeder and the other one broke through a fence and into a field next door. We have no idea who they belong to, getting the number of their ear tags to ring DEERA tomorrow to find out. Never dull here lol. Hugs xx

I wouldn't settle with the To Go. My Kelly and Birkin were purchased preloved. But there is a Facebook group for Hermes lovers where you can glean a lot of information on "the game". For the mini it is one of the hardest to get, so the chances of being offered one without a substantial history is slim. I didn't want to buy a lot of items I didn't want just to get the bag I did, and since it's somewhere between a 1:1 and 2:1 spend to bag ratio it was cheaper to buy preloved.
For the subscriber who wants a kelly,maybe save up and tRy it in paris where you don’t have to have a history to get one. And if doesn’t work go for pre loved but be careful the fakes nowadays from Hermes are soo good you don’t see the difference.

What a great video! I have quite a few Chanel pieces new and vintage. I agree that the quality all around seems to be better in the vintage. In particular the hardware seems to be nicer and has a heavier feel. Also, I love the pink small crossbody on you and the blue jacket. I hope you got the jacket!!!

I absolutely love vintage Chanel, the leather is so supple and the hardware is stunning! I recently purchased the chain bar vanity from 22A in yellow because it was reminiscent of the Barbie one you were admiring...it comes with a removable mirror and the CC at the bottom and everything. Also, there's now a strap. You should definitely get it. It's so Chanel!🥰🤗

I hv always had my eye on Chanel classic flap bags but with their recent "game" trick just like Hermes couldn't get one :( Their recent price increase especially hving to wait in line to get one also stopped me from even thinking about it ! The chanel with the chevrons in black is battered. I'm not opposed to buying vintage but I'm not sure why you would want to part with your cash for a bag in that condition. Great vid though!

What a great video, lots of lovely different topics. I love it when you go to Harrods and will never get board as I also love going there myself as a special treat (and I'm looking forward to the sale coming soon) but also so lovely to see Selfridges and Luxury promise. It looks to me as if the new métiers d’art collection has quite a lot of that lovely warm pink coming back again. I do still love Channel despite the price rises and following your advice I am always really careful to make sure the quality is good. That is actually how I ended up with the bag I had always wanted after I went back to look at a bag and found that it was badly scratched on the inside. The SA then found a black caviar version which I thought would take years to get. I hope you get all your photo's on IG back soon and have a great rest if the week 😊

Hi Sophie! I’m so late but I had a migraine after my exam yesterday so I fell asleep! But I can focus on the video. The Chanel vintage bags are always a hit, that pink evening bag was beautiful as was that celine 😍! And don’t worry your vlogs could never be boring! As for the Kelly issue, I would honestly say try and save for the full Kelly and try for the preloved if you can’t get them new. There are some great consignment websites that sell great quality Kelly and it’s a beautiful bag. I think the Kelly to go is too small and if you know you’ll get a lot of use out it then you could get it but the actual Kelly bag is better value in my opinion so just save a bit more and I think you will be pleased with your decision in the long run. Hi Sophie. Your shopping vblogs are anything but boring. Pls continue to take us along on your shopping spree. Wish that Luxury Promise is also located in the US. Sabrina seems like a very trusted person. With regards to Hermes I don’t view it as the “ Hermes Game”. I would only buy what I love from the brand. The key to scoring a bag (not just BkC) is to have a SA who you can really connect with and be patient. My view is that every Hermes store and SA are different, and it’s not always the case that you have to spend 1:1, at the very least, to score a bag. Everyone has different experiences with the brand. Their bags are SO meticulously made. Every stitching is in tact and the leather is super nice. Very luxurious. I’m in love with the brand. My husband said that I’m bewitched. Lol. Love my SA. My suggestion to your subie is to only buy the Kelly to go if she really likes it. Otherwise, don’t settle on it. It’s not going to make her happy. There is no guarantee that selling the bag in preloved market or consignment store will give you what you have paid for. They, of course, will turn around, and can sell the bag at a much higher price.

Hi Sophie, this video is just what I wanted. I needed to have someone review Luxury Promise to see whether they are legit. Thank you for this very useful vlog. I have been on Luxury Promise website and watch some of their live shows on Instagram and I have set my eye on one of their chanel bags. I am dying to buy it and am saving up for it but my problem is that I do not live in the UK, I am in Greece and do not want the bag to be sent to me via post or courier. I would also like to have the bag examined, checked out before I buy it. Would my only option be to come over to the UK to buy the bag, if they haven't sold it by then? I also am afraid of the custom duties that might be required to be paid if I have it sent over by courier. Do you think my apprehension is valid?
