I’m in the learning stage of bookkeeping. Taking a class on intuit academy. Teaches fundamentals. Also on Udemy- learning about QBO. Thank you for your amazing videos. I’ve taken advantage of your free stuff like checklist to follow when starting out! ✌🏼
Hello Morgan, thank you for your time and effort by sharing your experience in this field, I am considering bookkeeping really serious, I am starting from the beginning by getting my GED and taking a class in college maybe I am a little late by trying but I think bookkeeping will help me achieve my goals as a side business, I am a truck driver but would like to learn a new skill, thank you for your videos it Inspires me
I’m almost done with my certificate in bookkeeping at my community college (three weeks left) and I work at H&R Block, started as a tax associate (level 1 of 6) and I actually enjoyed doing taxes and found I’m good at it. Once I reach level 3 I can do bookkeeping with the company and I intend to do it plus taxes.
I have both a bookkeeping business and a job as a bookkeeper. Least favorite - chasing down paperwork and receipts from my non-digital clients and co-workers. Most favorite - doing payroll at my job. We don't use a payroll service or even have it set up in our accounting system so I do it manually in an Excel workbook. I actually really enjoy figuring out the taxes and journal entries every week and filing the reconciliations every quarter. (I know, I'm weird. 🤷🏼♀️)
This video has really helped me. I thought I had to know and like everything about BK. I got my license then I helped with a 7 year clean up which discouraged me. So, I put my business on the side. I hope to pursue it now. Thank you so much!
We are glad this video helped you and gave you the motivation to pursue starting your bookkeeping business again! Let us know if you have any questions along the way! Krista (FinePoints Admin)
As always Morgan, great video! Your content is amazing and absolutely fulfilling with educational benefits. On your list, for number 1 you said "Analyzing Reports" and that brought a question to mind. I've noticed a trend growing lately about bookkeepers offering "CFO" services. This to me seems it can go in two different directions. One aspect, providing financial advice to a business seems it should be in the realm of a CPA. But another view of this is we are preparing reports and giving to the business owner and they make the final decision. Am I overthinking this or do you see the challenge I am seeing? Curious what your view is on "CFO" services and is this something bookkeepers should look into or maybe something similar?
Hey! Morgan doesn't have a detailed answer for you at this time, but I sent her your question in order to see if this is something she wants to explore more and possibly do a video on. To answer your question in short, Morgan does think it's ok for bookkeepers to prepare reports and explain the information provided in the reports to the client so that they have a full understanding of their companies financial data. Hello Morgan - I'm new to your channel. I am a middle aged man coming from a blue collar type work background. Due to physical wear and tear on my body as well as some unexpected parental care responsibilities - I've been put in a situation that in a relatively short period of time is going to result in the need for a significant all around career change. It's of great importance that my new profession offer some level of flexible full time working hours & the ability to perform my duties remotely. I'm intrigued with the concept of bookkeeping as a skill & a career but I'm not sure if this is a realistic option for someone like myself who would be coming in from a work field that is so completely and thoroughly unrelated. I'd appreciate your opinion on this matter - as well as any possible suggestions on low/no cost next steps I might take to get a "high-level" & realistic gage on if the virtual bookkeeping business could be a career path for me to fully invest in & seriously pursue. Thank you for reading. :)

Like you, I will not do taxes or give advice about taxes. Unlike you, I like doing cleanups, but the problem is that cleanups take up too much time.
❤
Thanks for watching!

I absolutely love you subtle hatred of tax prep 😂 not being a fan of tax prep can really give a new bookkeeper imposter syndrome!
haha, I feel you. So true about the impostor syndrome!
You r really gorgeous. Im in love with you❤
Well that wasn't awkward or anything.
