I love this music, but these tracks aren't anything crazy. Usually only stick to one key per track. But modern dance music is definitely way more formulaic than this. Same structure, similar sounds, and most often only a handful of the same chord progressions.
@@w0y4k15 Never said it was the craziest music ever haha. Just saying that tip-toeing the line between crazy and conventual made this genre spicier than normal dance music.

Nice work there Johnny B took me right back 👍👍 looking at your history i think we both have great tastes and after 1995 the music was not to my taste til Liquid came along!
Went to a few acid house parties in 89, loved house music but the music played at these parties sometimes scared me back then, but i was only 15, by 92 i was 19 and fell completely in love with rave music, hardcore, it seemed mental as fuck back then, and i preferred it to acid house, though my friends at the time went the other way, hated hardcore and loved acid, but by 92 acid was more or less dead, it turned into garage house, which in turn turned to "dance" music as we more or less know it lol but fuck it, i will always be a raver at heart, even at 43, these tunes put a silly big smile on my face all the time, so big up to the dj here, bang fucking tidy mix mate, high quality mixing, high quality sounding upload too, sorted!
In the latest Bonkers album it says Chris Unknown started producing Hardcore in 1993 under the artist name "DJ's Unknown" with the 'Vol 1' on Homegrown Records ;)
LOL at the comment further down \/ \/ \/ music is for entertainment I believe and uplifting sorrow or low mood...well in my warped brain it is anyway pmsl! and I LOVE both bouncy tunes but also other end of scale too...from linkin park to oasis to Adele&even STEPS haha...5,6,7,8 heehee:) but come on matey it is Friday and who wants to sit&cry into their chippy tea or Friday night takeaway pmsl give me tunes like this anyday:) ...(#not just for Friday's:) everyday's a bouncy tune day in my 🏠:) xxx
You got some tunes mate, the finest is after all we need to go through( haha ). A fine mix as well, as you seem to know this era I was wondering if you could help an old raver? I've want to sorce a tune that seems to be a rave version on a Jean Michael Jarrs equinox, this has eluded me, as has a rave version of black beauty. I know there's some cheese factor going on but memories are the dreams of our past. anyway respect to your set, they awesome.
Too happy for me, without much suggestion of sadness. Not my cup of tea, I'm afraid. Life is a blend of happy and sad, and music should reflect that- be true to reality, if you know what I mean.
Fair play - everyone has their own personal tastes and respect to you for being honest 👍 This mix is merely a compilation of some of my fave oldskool tunes from the early nineties hardcore days - the kind of tunes that went off at Dreamscape, most of which had happy vibes for proper raving! Nothing deeper than that I'm afraid. By sadness, do you mean more kind of darkside stuff from 93/94 - like Bizzy B, reinforced, metal heads, etc?
+Johnny B If one is at a rave and on something, it's nice to listen to upbeat tunes to complement one's heightened state of mind, but when one is on RUclips, listening to music as background when one is working in a unaltered state of mind, one needs unaltered music, i.e. music that reflects unaltered reality (not music to boost an already heightened state of mind). I used the word 'sad' as an opposite to 'happy'. Yes, you are right- it could just as well have been 'dark' or darkside'- something that counterbalances 'happy'. None of the artists you mentioned tickle my fancy. A few tracks and artists I like are Acen's Trips to the Moon, State of Mind's Sunking, Tru Playaz' Anthem, Rave Breaks' Angel Delight, NRG's I need your Lovin, Shut up and Dance's Ravin I'm Ravin. [PS- I still gave you a thumbs up as your selections are genuine and uncommercial pieces of music]
+Maciej Ratajczak - No worries at all- if you also like drum & bass, check out my Mixcloud page as it's got loads of sets full of mixed emotive tunes - both happy and sad. My Fire & Ice series of mixes are the ones to listen to. Http://www.mixcloud.com/johnny_b
+Johnny B Like a musical doctor, you have prescribed precisely the right medicine to emotively accompany my time spent in front of computers. Fire and Ice (November 2015) - happy and sad - all within the framework of old and new drum n bass. Big up to you. ----- CHECK OUT THIS DUDE'S WORK RUclipsRS ----- "MIXCLOUD JOHNNY B"
+Maciej Ratajczak Wicked mate - I knew that would be more your vibe - big ups!!! I'm gonna try and upload more of these mixes to youtube - just takes time compared to good old mixcloud ;p
hard to believe this is from 27 years ago....! blimey - still sounds so unique this era of music - great
The lack of music theory knowledge is actually what gave this genre such a cool/unique sound. Breaking the rules typically creates new genres.
You may like a little listen to our tracks...

Brett Smith yep, and he made some quality tunes. Homegrown records also a subsidiary label of Basement records - so quality was always high!
Great work! Thanks for sharing :)
