The books you got are great classics! The one titled Eight Cousins is written by the author Louisa May Alcott, the same author who wrote Little Women. Heidi and Hans Brinker were books I read in the ‘60’s but were old even then. I was probably about 10 years old at the time I read those books, and loved them so much I read them over and over! 😊
I grew up reading the Readers Digest books. To Kill a Mockingbird is one I remember well. They were a subscription mailed to the house. Great way to get the classics when you lived on a farm out in the country. Your unknown wooden box is a desk piece to keep note paper in, or something similar. The divot on the one side is your clue. What fun, sad your video was lost. Can hardly wait for your field trip. Have 2 cameras going so nothing is lost. Wish I had a tiny portion of your energy, but those days are long gone. Your youth and enthusiasm is so fun for me to watch.
