Blanka is so beautiful to watch . . . not just a great technician with her jumps, but she also has the look, radiates such a unique presence.

Wow. Seeing this, you realise Blanka could have done it. She cleared 2.10, breaking the world record, only didn't whip her heels up quick enough. It's a great sadness she didn't break the world record, which she fully deserved to do. Best female high-jumper ever.

Amazing: I think she says twice around 2:27 that she has a blister (croat. "zulj" ) under her feet. And still she won the title!

No, I disagree. Blanka was not approaching too fast. Everything had to be increased to go that high. The basic physics is of course FORCE = MASS x ACCELERATION. The more acceleration the greater potential for force (height). The interesting question for me is why Blanka never (or rarely, I never saw it) attempted 2:09? Was it out of respect for Stefka?
