To any genuine Chinese commenters: I'm an Australian father. My young son a few minutes ago showed me some work he was doing at this government / public school. He was learning how to write / draw Chinese characters (words), and about Chinese history. They are taught to be respectful of all countries, especially those in our region. Even if both our governments may sometimes disagree, or behave like children themselves, we should both be aware that regular people (in Australia, China, India, UK, US) have more in common together than any small differences we may have. We should never allow our governments to bring us to war, or to fight, because it's not us who will pay the price, it will be our children. And nobody wants that. So stay cool, be positive, and always question anyone who wishes you to fight your friends, your neighbors. Thanks for reading, and take care.

This video is wrong about the power system of the type 003 carrier, which is actually similar to that on Queen Eliz. In short, the power plant on 003 burns diesel to generate electricity. The ship, and all systems on it, is propelled by electricity.
Hehe. Well currently it's just 1 carrier. Main enemy it has is USS Ronald Reagan thats a Nimitz class. Though the US can always deploy 2 others to join it.
@@davidty2006 Fujan won’t be commissioned until 2025 at least, and the USS JFK (CVN-79) will be commissioned by 2024, so we’ll have two Ford class carriers by then.
Catching up is one hell of a stretch lol. China building new obsolete carriers that match US made ones made 70 years ago is something, but nowhere near a threat.
The problem with Chinese carriers is that they are based off the flawed Russian design of the admiral kuznetsov. Which has only had one combat deployment where things went relatively well. Next it takes decades to build the doctrine and support to make carriers viable not even mentioning repair and support facilities. This carrier will get 2-3 deploymenta out before things break with no viable fixing unless returning to port, which is a vicious cycle to be caught in. Russia has learned that the hard way and I expect china will learn the same lesson. I could go on but I've typed enough
@@sniperboom1202 this one isn't based on the Russian carriers. And it will be using EMALs to launch aircraft. The USA just started using it on the Ford class carriers. The Nimitz careers were using steam. So it is new territory for everyone. Am sure the Chinese wouldnt have built the ship without accounting for most of the things that could wrong
@@djjon1388 There is a difference between it will and it does. I think this launch is a show. The electromagnetic catapults are likely not complete yet and that means no planes are going to take off from the carrier for next 2 years at a minimum. So why launch this carrier?
@@djjon1388 except it is, it's an evolution of the Russian design with a Chinese flare and about 20k tones heavier. Disregarding that the rail launchers on U.S carriers only switched because R&D worked out the final bugs in the system. It doesn't mean it won't have issues or that something major couldn't break. The difference is U.S carriers have support facilities built SPECIFICALLY for the huge carriers. I could be wrong but last I checked Russia and China barely have any support systems for a ship over 55,000 tons in terms of war ship. Next china is notorious for over hyping their achievements to make it seem like there appear of the United States. They believe that they can operate carriers without the experience and accompanying support systems behind them shows how little you know on actual military systems and procedures.
One big mistake in this video is that the Type 003 carrier is using a completely different power and propulsion system than the 001 and 002 carrier. While 001 and 002 are using oil fired boilers to push steam turbines, the 003 is using the medium voltage direct current integrated power system to power the fully electric gearless propulsion system and the EMALS. Electric power is generated by two gas turbines and four diesel electric generators, and the generated energy is stored for distribution by the MVDC system. In these regards, the 003 is more advanced than the CVN Ford Class that is still using steam turbines and MVAC for the EMALS. Of course, the CVN Ford Class still enjoy some advantage of being nuclear powered, which means it can afford to be inefficient in terms of energy usage.
The gossips video I saw says 2x Large Diesels (modern) electric generators 5x LNG (modern) electric generators Other then that the all electrical system is correct In fact 055 destroyers are all eletric motor propulsion for certain... Not sure about the other types
It remains to be seen how well this ship and it's air complement will perform once commissioned. What is very clear however is that China has undoubtedly surpassed Russia in aircraft carrier development. Russia has never had a full deck super carrier.
One even more interesting thing to keep an eye on is what the carrier will actually be launching. Sure the Chinese surpassed Russian carrier development, but they are still using clones of the SU30 fighters for something that is supposed to be a "modern" carrier.
No, in fact, the United States, Russia, and India are the three most powerful countries in the world. China's weapons are probably only equivalent to the level of World War II.
Congratulations to the Chinese people! This is a mighty fine warship. Let this be the first of many more super carriers that will follow. ~ Best wishes from Singapore
Dont understimate China for fucks sake! I dont support the CCP, i dont agree with how they are running their country, and i dont like the way they treat the people inside of it, but people dont give them any sort of credit for what they've accomplished. They've gone from their 2 ski jump carriers to an EMALS Supercarrier. That is a very impressive jump. Chinese naval designers are cautious about what they put on their ships, the carrier will still likely initially have a run similar to that of the USS Ford, riddled with problems before they're fixed. We dont know anything about this carrier other than its launch system and its size spec sheet, and yet people are already calling it just a copy, and a re-write of America's "Old homework". Based on what? they way it looks? the way its gonna be operated?, every country makes designs that share things with each other because those things work, they're established. if that constitues as ripping other designs off, then everyone's been ripping off Britain since the 1910s with the HMS Argus, America included, and that sounds like a load of shit to everyone, doesnt it? We all know China makes a lot of cheap shit trash they sell, but whose the ones who enabled them to do that? us, the West. We're the ones who went "Gosh, these things sure are expensive to make here. I here that country China can make it very cheap, screw the quality, so long as it sells". This isnt indicative of their actual production and design capability, thinking that this *business tactic* is a credible way of measuring what they're able to do is like taking the bottom percent products in terms of quality from any western nation and going "Yup, thats all they're capable of". China skips corners in a lot of places it can afford to. But unlike Russia, it doesnt see the Armed Forces as a place where it can afford to skip all the corners it wants to. Buildings, bridges, construction work, sure, lets use cheap crap materials. But that mentality isnt exactly applicable to every part of Chinese manufacturing. Their leadership is very shrewd, and no doubt they'd probably be very happy to see themselves be as understimated as they are in these comments, they know they're likely going to face some kind of conflict in the near future, thats the whole point of their massive modernisation effort, and thinking they're not aware that cutting all corners would jeopardise that effort is dangerous. Any time in history one power underestimated another neer peer, it ended very badly for them.
The US still has all the cards when it comes to modern rank and file military tech, training, and soldiers. And, we've learned the hard way about counter-insurgency and guerilla warfare. Anything the Chinese have that can even begin to compare to western equivalents was 'developed' (not even starting with the piracy thing) within the last 25 years and most of it hasn't even entered service yet. The Chinese are currently making such a gigantic leap forward I just don't believe their system will be able to keep up with the evolution. And who are they going to turn to for help training up their military? Russia? I kinda hope so, that way Taiwan will immediately know what does and doesn't work to repel an invasion. Underestimating is the worst stance to take, yes, but they also stand alone in the world right now. Their cooperation with Russia is guaranteed to be either temporary or just as shaky as in the past. I served on a US Navy deep ocean aircraft carrier 60 years ago. Aircraft carriers are complex systems, even before you add in carrier groups (airplanes). China has been pretty good at building things - some better than others. But it takes a deep understanding of training, joint operations and logistics to operate an aircraft carrier group. Building ships is, in many respects, the easiest part. Conduct deep ocean flight, refueling, reprovisioning operations while guarding against submarine, surface and air threats - as the US Navy has for about a century - and then we can talk about what is "sour grapes" and what is simply an acknowledgment of the vast lead the US Navy has in this area.
I'm loving the comments. Hur dur big target. You do realize the US has at least 11 of those large targets. Also this just shows china is actually capable of building something this large. I'm not pro china by any means but this just shows that they can build something that will be a real threat.
No snarky comments here, just some real observations. First off it’s an oil burner, not nuclear powered which has several impacts. The biggest being it’s range of operations. Certainly it will have its own oilers and resupply ships, but those come with the inherent vulnerability of being lost. Also fuel storage foe its own engines means less storage for its aircraft and munitions. An additional factor is that it will be using electromagnetic catapults and recovery systems which will require significant amount of power will be supplied by its own generators. Again fuel storage. Then there’s it’s aircraft of which China’s only carrier fighter jet is the woefully underpowered, heavy and problem riddled J-15. It’s uncertain how the J-15 will perform using a catapult launch system if it can even use or be reconfigured for such. If so that may even improve it performance as the J-15 cannot take off from their current carriers with a full fuel and weapons load out which limits it capabilities. The J-31 is in development but it’s uncertain how it will perform or when it will be available for service. Of course there’s always the headaches of breaking in new systems and training. It will be interesting to see how it’s deployed and wether it will stray very far from China’s shores. I’m not sure it will ever make a world tour or even show up off the coast of Africa. It will have to have its own fleet of ships for protection and supply so that’s also a limiting factor. All that said, I don’t see the Fujian ever going head to head with an American aircraft carrier battle group. The locals, sure. But, not bad for their first, modern carrier. Be something to keep one’s eyes on.
You’ve got to remember the first thing China loses of it goes to war is it’s fuel supply. They are a net importer of oil. Also, The F35 does not have significant problems any more. Yes there are small issues still but the integrated systems America has that link all aspects of their military is unmatched.

Americans are mad cause people are catching up. Their ships are being retired and china out here building ships like crazy
🤣我想是的,003的出现为我国捕鱼业的发展迈出了关键的一步

Good comments, but you know too much 😄🙃🙃
Yes they have 1.4 billion people and they want the same things as people in the USA or the EU. Their economy will continue to grow.
I'm beginning to the half the comments of people dismissing them are Chinese trolls myself. Good write-up.
Putin is on his way out, he's having his last hurrah ruining the world economy and bullying his secret crush Zelenskyy before cancer or assassins or whatever finally kill the jackass. I think they're aware of their predicament themselves, and as i said, they are fairly cautious in just slapping fancy tech on their stuff (at least the naval stuff), its probably their way of trying to be as prepared and ahead as they can. Of course we dont know if thats actually gonna help mitigate the issues they're gonna have in terms of experience and know-how. In the grand scheme of things they might as well have started operating carriers a week ago compared to other countries around the world, and now they have to try to operate a supercarrier.

Be something to keep one’s eyes on.
f35 is still problem riddled
We don't plan to go to Africa with our military forces. We are good friends with them.
You’ve got to remember the first thing China loses of it goes to war is it’s fuel supply.
They are a net importer of oil. Also, The F35 does not have significant problems any more. Yes there are small issues still but the integrated systems America has that link all aspects of their military is unmatched.

China will eventually learn to operate effectively, it is just a matter of time. In less than 50 years, China will sailing the seven seas with at least 15 carriers and some spares to protect South China Seas

It comes down to the training and naval doctrine. Unfortunately they don’t have much experience in this, as well as power projection. Only time will tell if the Chinese military can pull it off. You can build all you want, but if you don’t have the means to proficiently train and operate these systems at full scale, it’s kinda pointless.
Same BS over and over again. Remember back in 2001 when they predicted that it would take China "decades" to become part of the world market, let along a competitive player? In reality,20 years later China is the biggest trade partner to 2/3 of the countries in the world.

I’m surprised the Chinese built a flat top carrier before proving they mastered EMLS. Or making sure that conventional powered carrier would generate enough EMLS sorties. The Americans are still having problems with their EMLS even now. EMLS delayed the Gerald Ford by nearly 5 years.
The Fujian will be the first CATOBAR carrier to be conventionally powered in the world too. Time will tell. At least if the US had totally failed with EMLS they would have reverted back to steam. The Chinese have nothing to revert too.
The Geralf R Ford is now fully operational with its EMLS and will deploy to service later this year. The John F Kennedy will probably be deployed to active service in 2024 or 2025 so the US has solved EMLS now.
