  • We decided to try sheepshead fishing in Charleston, South Carolina on Shem Creek with live Fiddler Crabs and fishing with sweeper jigs. It was going to be a rought day to sheepshead fish because the tide was not moving until later in the day. Typcially the sheepshead feed better with a moving time like the other inshore fish in Charleston, South Carolina. We fished hard and only had a few opportunities to turn them into catches. I hope you enjoy us fishing for Sheepshead in Charleston, South Carolina.

      It’s tough to get a hobie without spending some cash. You have to find them second hand. Randy in the video has a bonafide and I think they are cheaper.

    What tide do you prefer to fish in general? Slack or flowing? Bought a boat and trying to catch some stuff

    • @1stDownFishing
      @1stDownFishing  3 года назад

      I generally like incoming more because I like to see the area at low tide and learn the structure. However, this past winter/spring I have fished high and a falling tide and found some spots I really like. Where are you fishing out of?

      There’s a lot of good fishing by there. There are several flats and structure by that launch. Jeanettes creek is usually good for bait and redfish

    What setup are you using?

    • @1stDownFishing
      @1stDownFishing  3 года назад +1

      I had a 7 foot medium E6X Rod, 3000 vanford, 10lb braid to 20 lb leader, and I had a 1/2 oz bottom sweeper jig on.

    Great job on the video! On days like those you may have been better off just calling it a Scenic Tour Of Shem Creek! No worries you will be back on them soon I am sure!

      You’re exactly right. When you know before leaving the house, you have to get your mind right. Worst part is on a day like that then you can’t miss any fish. With sheepshead, that’s not going to happen.

    Nice! Went out yesterday and fought 20-25 mph winds. Ended up smashing the trout just by finding a spot out of the wind. Video coming soon...

      I’m going to text you. I think we could have found a trout bite but we didn’t push far enough up the creek because the tide and wind were right in our faces.

    Nice! I find it best to just cranking the reel to set the hook and don't stop. Best eating fish in my opinion inshore.

      I completely agree that they are awesome to eat. I generally miss a few but not like that. It was 5 hours into the trip and I was shocked we even had a bite. Thank you for watching.
