Teddy once said that one thing he never one was a Grammy Award but when you are the singer of all time you do not need a Grammy to validate yourself for you and your voice, your presence AND THE LOVE YOU GENERATE WHEN YOU IS STILL FELT BY ALL OF US. WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU TEDDY AND I THANK LORD GOD ALMIGHTY FOR GIVING YOU TO ALL OF US.
The bloke is only 29 years old in this concert! He is mature and wise and skilled beyond his years. And what about his tremendous artistry at such a young age. There was something really amazing about his destiny. After his accident, he showed what a very wise and incredible man he was. Watching this concert of a 29-year-old young Teddy, you would not believe he is so young. Watching this, I am knocked out, I am gone. His sexuality and sensuality are like not from this world. And his talent, he is incredible, makes me think I am flying. He is a beautiful and free spirit now. Had he asked me to go with him and leave everything behind me, I would have said yes. No second thoughts, that´s his magic. He was amazing. Now, we can have comfort in a thought that only his absolutely gorgeus (out of this world) body is gone, his beautiful soul and his spirit are eternal. I love you, Teddy. PS Look at him in the photos in his later years, you can see that all that magic originated from his beautiful soul and spirit. It shone through even he lost the mobility of his body. Body is just an illusion, the spirit is eternal.
You said this perfectly. I swear I've been watching his live concerts and listening to his music ever since I watched his documentary on Showtime. And all I keep saying is this is 29!!! I was only 8 years old when he performed this but I remember my mom playing his music. Amazing talent. If you haven't watched his documentary check it out. And you're absolutely correct about his pictures later on in life beautiful soul. I'm so glad the doctor after his accident was able to get through to him when he was contemplating suicide.

I have watched this video 10x already, and his documentary film too. It was the best I have ever seen so far. It’s great! Very well put together!
Teddy was tall, handsome and talented. GOD must have spent a little more time on him. Wherever you are tonight, Teddy, I am sending you loads of hugs 🤗 and kisses 😚. May your soul Rest In Peace. Cheers and beers 🍺 mates!
An amazing talent. That raspy growling sound was so unique combined with the musicianship and showmanship made him unbeatable. David Ruffin had it to some extent. But Teddy was into the physicality of the stage and performing. He loved it.
With all due respect my beautiful friend, David Ruffin had it just as much if not more. I suggest you type in David Ruffin - The Impossible Dream live performance he did in 1969 and tell me what you think. David Ruffin was disrespectfully overlooked. He deserved the spotlight just as much as Teddy did. I love both of them but I think David Ruffin was greater. Hear David Ruffin - Rainy Night In Georgia. His range was way too much for Teddy to emulate or come close to. But they're both my favorite singers so I'm fine whichever way it goes, but David was the King.
@@godsson5082 I must agree with you. Yes David had more range. You can really hear the depth and range of his voice on his solo albums. In fact, his falsetto was much better than Eddie Kendrick's. That other person to whom you are responding was insinuating that Teddy was more handsome. IMHO both of them were beautiful melinated brothers. I love both of them.
Teddy Pendergrass was a sexy beast!! He had it ALL!! Talent, raw sexuality, a fabulous voice, he was a multi talented musician, he was fine, fine, fine!! Oh my goodness. He just oozes charisma, and whatever IT is, he’s got it in spades. For real. Just Amazing. Nobody will ever be able to touch Mr. Pendergrass. We will never see the likes of him again. Or experience his superb aura. God made him, and shattered the mold. Rest In Peace sweet King. Also the band is rocking, and grooving. and the background singers, are elegant, with beautiful voices.
Lisa, I was there, and it was an experience one is probably never going to experience again. My grandmother said he was the epitome of tall, dark, handsome, along with that voice like an archangel!!! Lord have mercy.
In the doc, one of the gentleman who worked w/ Teddy said,."you've gotta give a voice like that some raw meat." I love that line! His voice was feral and sexy.
Julie W that man who said that was Kenny Gamble. The founder of Philadelphia International Records. A musical legend in his own right, Gamble and Huff wrote and produced Teddy for 11 years from 1971 till the day of his infamous car accident that paralyzed . His accident was the the beginning of the decline in R and B music. His accident was an attempted assassination because he was too masculine and he was ready to take over the world....
@@mrjohnshaft1975 I have to disagree. His accident was the temporary decline of sexy male black artists, not r&b. Key word being sexy. You still had Peabo Bryson, Jeffrey Osborne, etc However they were about romance and offered little sexual appetit for the ladies. Teddy sang romantic words, but gave you that "I'll manhandle you" appeal. Also, you had r &b kicking strong after his accident in 1982. Dont forget R & B groups that took over. MIdnight Starr, Atlantic Star, Dazz Band, Cameo, etc. So R & B was just fine. But, that singular male sexy appeal artist temporarily stopped until........Bobby Brown. Bobby gave you what teddy was giving you, but in a more raunchy way. Never the less, truly think of when teddy's accident happened until bobby brown. No male black artist in between that time was giving you raw sex appeal. Luther vandross wasnt. Freddie jackson wasnt. They were giving you romance. But raw sex appeal, it was Bobby 6-7 years later giving you ladies that "come get this D" appeal. Think about it
@@mrjohnshaft1975 I believe you. Teddy had some very lucrative deals in many venues at the time of bv that tragic accident, including in Hollywood. The media wanted him it is said because of his talent and extraordinarily good looks. I can't argue with its assessment. Rest well TP.❤❤❤LOL to all Teddy Bear Fans.😅🤩❤
Bryon Montgomery Teddy is one of my favorite entertainers but he's not my favorite of all time - to me Marvin Gaye & Luther Vandross had the spotlight way over Teddy 😎🎶 🎹 🎷 🎸 July 28 ,2019

Teddy P plays the drums very well and TP songs are remember more by most people born from the 20’s even up to 2023 and beyond. Teddy P is a world class top chart billboard artist from the 70’s/80’s/90’s a world class singer and performer. Live on Teddy P!!!
Man......at that time the best R&B in the country was coming outta Philly. Teddy, O'Jays, the Jackson's, Patti, the list goes on and on. Kenny Gamble just don't get the recognition that he surely deserves.
The same outfit he had on in Beaumont, TX when my cousin and I partied with him, Lenny Williams, and the Isley Brothers. I just remember that as young as I was' everyone of them were perfect gentlemen!!!!!!
This is my 2nd time watching this through it’s entirety. This band was second to none! Outstanding musicians in and out! Teddy P is my favorite singer/entertainer of all time.
The master at his best...long before videos were needed to help an artist sell their records Teddy P first five solo albums all went platinum.. PURE TALENT AND SOPHISTICATION
Wow! Excellent performance so great to see on tape. Teddy an incredible talent. None like him anymore. Damn wish I could've been there. Musicians, singers, excellent too. Love classic R&B, dance. Live, real, musicians, singers, best.
What a dynamic performance. The band, back up singers, and Teddy. Glad we have DVD. Wish i could have been in audience. Can you believe that he never won a Grammy?

I have watched this video 10x already, and his documentary film too. It was the best I have ever seen so far. It’s great! Very well put together!
Who dared to dislike this? T.P. The "badest"! At his Supreme best!
Teddy was tall, handsome and talented. GOD must have spent a little more time on him. Wherever you are tonight, Teddy, I am sending you loads of hugs 🤗 and kisses 😚. May your soul Rest In Peace. Cheers and beers 🍺 mates!
Take it Easy!!! Tell them TP
I could have said it better. Blessing to my fellow Teddy P fan.
I watched this when it first aired on HBO in the late seventies and always gave props to the band. They truly kicked ass.
You hit the nail on the head! The band adds so much to the performance as well as the back-up singers, esp. on "Close the Door".
Now this is what you call an ENTERTAINER!!! SINGER!!!!!!!!!!!! A PERFORMANCE!!!!!!! WORTH paying TO SEE!!!!!...not anymore....just trash today........
exactly
He was an awesome man,Very very handsome.
I was a teenager and was in love with Teddy. Never got to see him perform live. I just ❤️ him🥰
‼️‼️‼️
I feel you!❤
Wow. I wish I could have been there! Teddy 🐻!!!
Yes sir buddy those ' ANGELS ' were some of the finest women. Boy oh boy as Teddy can say yes sir buddy...✌
Lisa b hey call me
Lisa, I was there, and it was an experience one is probably never going to experience again. My grandmother said he was the epitome of tall, dark, handsome, along with that voice like an archangel!!! Lord have mercy.
I SAW TEDDY IN CONCERT A FEW TIMES, HE HAD A TREMENDOUS COMMAND OF THE STAGE!!! THE ONE AND ONLY, THE GOAT, THAT VOICE COULD MELT ICE😍😍😍😍😍
And teeth to match . Perfect.
his voice is like butter 😍
In the doc, one of the gentleman who worked w/ Teddy said,."you've gotta give a voice like that some raw meat." I love that line! His voice was feral and sexy.
You dont know!!!! Better ask somebody
You still had Peabo Bryson, Jeffrey Osborne, etc
However they were about romance and offered little sexual appetit for the ladies.
I just love listening to Teddy P. Best music to compare to some of today's nonsense. Love you Teddy and you sang music with meaning.
Teddy was the best singer of all times there will never be another teddy p
He was great, but i am sorry Marvin is better to me
Sean Richards my man
Bryon Montgomery Teddy is one of my favorite entertainers but he's not my favorite of all time - to me Marvin Gaye & Luther Vandross had the spotlight way over Teddy 😎🎶 🎹 🎷 🎸 July 28 ,2019
@@seanrichards9957 I love Marvin but they each had different styles both beautiful voices
@@seanrichards9957 I love Marvin too, but Marvin is no Teddy. LOL 🥰

I'm back love me some Teddy Bear💖😍
Teddy P plays the drums very well and TP songs are remember more by most people born from the 20’s even up to 2023 and beyond.
Teddy P is a world class top chart billboard artist from the 70’s/80’s/90’s a world class singer and performer. Live on Teddy P!!!
That's how he got his start , incredible story !
Yes he was a gospel singer and professional drummer first, then started singing and became the Teddy P we know today!
His music is “timeless.” What a great talent. Teddy Pendergrass, GOD BLESS YOU, and THANK YOU!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Strange to see back up singers with clothes on. Old school for real...Not distracting. Loving it!
Perkins Professional
😁😂🤣😉
Perkins Professional when have back up singers not had on clothes?
@@amcra1 foreal, i hate when old heads try to knock the new generation
Elisha Martin yeah me too. I can’t think of an artist who backup singers didn’t have on clothes. This was a stupid comment.
AINT THAT THE TRUTH!!!
Man......at that time the best R&B in the country was coming outta Philly. Teddy, O'Jays, the Jackson's, Patti, the list goes on and on. Kenny Gamble just don't get the recognition that he surely deserves.
A true gift from God
I miss you, use to love listening to you back in the 70's Im so sorry that crash happened...
The greatest singer of my life time!!! The GOAT Teddy!!! Thank for the memories
The same outfit he had on in Beaumont, TX when my cousin and I partied with him, Lenny Williams, and the Isley Brothers. I just remember that as young as I was' everyone of them were perfect gentlemen!!!!!!
This man has all, respect!
This is my 2nd time watching this through it’s entirety. This band was second to none! Outstanding musicians in and out! Teddy P is my favorite singer/entertainer of all time.
I have this on DVD. I believe it was recorded at the Sahara.
RIP always love u God Bless u 💋💋❤️
Yeah Teddy was that dude when it came women. Who else back then was throwing Females only concerts.
The master at his best...long before videos were needed to help an artist sell their records Teddy P first five solo albums all went platinum.. PURE TALENT AND SOPHISTICATION
Why didn't he ever win a Grammy? His talent is unmatched.
@@24goodbuddy great question should’ve had multiple Grammys
a true pleasure to watch this.
Teddy P , the consument preformer.
so sadly missed, RIP Teddy P...
Wow! Excellent performance so great to see on tape. Teddy an incredible talent. None like him anymore. Damn wish I could've been there. Musicians, singers, excellent too. Love classic R&B, dance. Live, real, musicians, singers, best.
same
What a dynamic performance. The band, back up singers, and Teddy. Glad we have DVD. Wish i could have been in audience. Can you believe that he never won a Grammy?
Best Man to ever do it solo
Teddybear, entertainer extraordinaire
