    I installed the blue Sumos on my 2018 Tundra. I have the Equalizer WDH and tow a 7000# (loaded) Lance 2285. Like you said the ride is slightly stiffer when empty because mine, although they mount over the leaf springs and not the axle, make constant contact with the leaf spring. There may be a 1/4” gap but that’s it. No spacer came with mine. I am satisfied with the ride when empty and believe they helped a lot when towing the camper. Simple to install and no maintenance and constant adjustments as opposed to air bags. btw, mine are still blue…🤷‍♂️

    Mine turned from blue to black rather quickly also. It doesn’t seem to affect performance though.

    I added the mid strength Sumos to my 1/2 Ton GMC. There is about 3/4" space above them. I find the empty ride to be nearly the same as before. When towing my 8500-pound TT, it is more stable and rides like a dream. I use a WDH as well. There is absolutely no maintenance, and they should last as long as the truck. There is a small amount of sag but it is barely noticeable. I think the Sumo Springs are an excellent option for sag and handling safety. They were easy to install as well.

    Good information. I have a 2020 F-150 towing a 7000 lb GVWR travel trailer with a propride 3p weight distribution hitch. No trailer sway with this hitch but there is a little bounce. Think I'll give these a try. Thanks

    The color is temporary just to discriminate the rating difference new. Since outside of that color you can't tell the difference. I'd assume they would scribe a part number on the housings for future reference.
    But anyways, great videos! Well explained and put together

    If your using these to help eliminate sag when hauling 1000 to 1500lbs in the bed of the truck, does it make the truck feel more stable with side to side sway and does the front end feel less light then if you were stock with normal rear end squat?

      What are you towing and do you have a weight distribution hitch? If the front feels light it sounds like too much tongue weight to me.

    Just got mine in the mail and plan on installing them tomorrow. Did you have to adjust your weight distribution hitch after installing these?

    • @stuffyoucando2
      @stuffyoucando2  4 года назад +3

      It didn’t seem to impact the setting of my hitch since my Reese hitch requires using the trailer jack to level the trailer with the truck attached and then using the closest chain link. Though mine didn’t seem to change, I think it would be wise to go through the set up process again. Realistically you should do some of the setup each time anyway once the truck and trailer are loaded to account for any differences in truck and trailer loading.

      @@stuffyoucando2 Gotcha, yeah my WDH uses trunniun bars instead of chains. I've upgraded from the stock rear shocks also. So I should take a look at it anyways. Thanks for the video!

    Does it make it better when you goin down dirt roads does it help it feel more smooth??

    • @daveweed2765
      @daveweed2765 3 года назад

      Not really but kind of sorta. I have a tundra with an 8 foot bed and hot shot in the oilfield. I have the 3000 pound sumo springs to help with swatting and a definite difference. Less bounce with a load. Definitely smoother with a load but empty there is really no difference.
      With that said they are definitely wert the price.

    I have a leveling kit installed on my truck, 2" front/1" rear. Can you install these with a leveling kit? I have the same truck a tow a 29' trailer with 750lb hitch weight, similar to your situation. Of course using a weight distribution set up. Wondering if it is worth and can be installed with a leveling kit. Great video. Thanks

    • @stuffyoucando2
      @stuffyoucando2  3 года назад

      I don't see why you couldn't. The only issue would be that you would have a little more space between the bottom of the SumoSpring and your axle because of the 1" of lift. You'll probably have about an inch of gap even with the spacer they provide. All that means is that the SumoSpring isn't going to provide any benefit until you have put enough weight on it to drop the rear until the spring touches. That won't be a problem with your camper in my opinion. Thanks for watching!

      If you contact super springs, I'm sure they make a spacer or different kit for your application

    • @stuffyoucando2

      These are not meant to lift the normal ride height of your vehicle, they’re meant to help sagging when loaded.

      @@mikeb516 you could do whatever you want, but like my previous comment said, these aren’t meant to lift your vehicle, only prevent sagging. If you want to raise your ride height, get an actual lift that’s for that purpose.

    • @stuffyoucando2
      @stuffyoucando2  3 года назад

      Yes, in fact you really should do that before every trip to account for differences in how you load the trailer from one trip to the next (loaded or unloaded tanks, etc...).
