I will never forget seeing Walter play for the first time. It was a religious experience. I was standing right in front of the stage in Blue Cafe in Long Beach and was blown away watching him and this exact lineup play this incredible song. As good as this video is, nothing compares to the live experience. Decades later I'm still in awe.
I was there at the time, in this wonderful location in Amsterdam, I was together with my husband, who sadly passed away, totally unexpected in February 2020. I miss him so very much after being together with him for over 40 years. There are times I feel devastated and empty, and it seems I feel so cold, I will never get warm again. But than, listening to this great blues music, and remembering the fun and laughter and enjoying this gig so much that evening, makes me feel warm again and I realize there still is beauty in this world, even if it was only in music and happy memories, that would be enough for me. But that is not true ofcourse, I have loving children and grand children and though they never could replace him, they still fill the void in their own special way and again, listening to this beautiful and raw blues music, I also realize that life ain't that bad and worth living, or at least trying to get it back on track. Sorry, it wasn't meant to be such a long comment, but I do hope it will help anyone who suffered the loss of a loved one, and give them a little bit of hope. Have a nice life everyone, I love you all (when you are here for the music, you must be a great person.....lol)
Hi I read you comment and was moved, I recently lost my wife to cancer in Nov 2023 and we have been married over 30 years.I wake up everyday thinking of her. And yes there is good in life and if we meet someone new it’s not going to replaced the one you lost, but it will help you continue the journey of life. I’m hoping to find someone to walk that road , we have so much yet to offer someone special. Walter Trout is one of my favorites and he almost lost his life , but with that someone special he has bounce back still playing with the passion he has always had.May you find peace and love in your life.
Walter Trout is another forgotten fret master.. I can't for the life of me recall what venue in Atlanta he played the one time I got to see him live.. helluva concert though...
Seen this man just the once, a few years ago in the UK. Some articles I've seen about Walter call him a 'journeyman' type of guitarist. Never quite sure exactly what that means! I sorta do, but not sure it's a compliment! All I know is I sure wish I could play those 6 strings as well as this man. And a really nice guy as well....nuff said I think! Wish there were more nice people like Walter, that could play the guitar sooo very well! Hope he keeps it going for a very long time. Cheers........
my daddy went to see his last night and he met him and he got me an autograph from him!!! AHHHHHHH!!! and I'm 16 so this was amazing and i love this type of music :)
this guy is un fucking believable can not believe i never heard of him until 2 years ago this guy is the new guitar god the best all time ever can"t believe i am saying that because i am a big jimi hendrix fan who we all know was the best but this guy owns that right now i never heard anybody make a fender stratocaster sound like that the way walter does
That´s the Blues. I love them all. Aber keine Gitarre geht mir so rein wie Walter Trouts. Keiner verschmilzt so mit dem Teil. Saw you last year in Bonn. Thanks.
As a 55 y.o. man I remeber my buddy John Jennings saying " hey , lets go see Marshall Tucker " in the 80's....I laughed.... They played at a bar behind a strip joint in Brockton Ma... As a Metal head I scoffed at the thought. What a dummy I was... Kids! Soak everything in that you can - while you can.... Miss you John! " Purdy little Love song" 😉
Going to see him tonight in a 500 seat theater. Oh yeah. Thank you John Mayall and Carlos Santana for helping this man to save himself from the siren of drugs and alcohol.
@scotty2756 I hope you could tell from my post that the 'ugly' jibe is just a bit of fun. I have every album, video etc he has released and his Mayall stuff as well and have seem him every UK tour in the last 15 years or more. Love him and long may he continue to fill my need for balls to wall blues rock and roll !!!!
i saw him last Friday night and the sound guy had his guitar sound lower then the rest of the bands playing-it didnt make for a real great show-but i still liked him
@joelbiggen Thats is just the use of some volume swells. He keeps on playing while his pinky finger is rolling the guitar's volume knob up and down. This guy surely can play some mean Blues. Outstanding performance!
