    What charming film footage. It makes a great hobby to find an old toy car, strip it down and repaint and restore them to as new condition 😀 makes a great display when finished.

    I expect this must be the Lesney factory on the edge of Hackney marshes. We used to live about half a mile away. My mum worked there but I can't pick her out in the film. She used to bring home some of the discarded seconds for me. I had a bucket full of Matchbox cars.

    Easily removed??? I counted at least 20 people at 1:18. That is just the removal stage. Imagine staffing a production line like that today. No wonder the factories are all overseas now!

    Great film, these classic diecast cars just have something that modern diecast is lacking, perhaps being
    designed by a Human verses a CAD Computer ?

    • @crystalc1ear
      @crystalc1ear 4 года назад +10

      I think it is the fact that they are now made using cheap materials and cheap labour in China and lack the passion and care that domestic workers had. BTW CAD still requires a human designer, it can't be done by a computer (yet).

    • @greggybada
      @greggybada 4 года назад +5

      CAD is just a tool... blame MODERN car design... or just blame yourself for having a preference on older car designs...

    • @megaman2099
      @megaman2099 3 года назад +2

      CAD is not the problem, the problem some times are the designers of some cars, because actually we can find great castings in the mainline of matchbox and other ones that are bad..
      That happends too in those old years of 60s, so many great castings and also there was bad castings and the problem was originated by the designer.
      So CAD is not the problem.

    Could you imagine getting a nice one made of that wonderful shiny metal, and ornately painted wheels with a streamlined foundation and a pop of color in them (like a 1937 Packard rim set) or some other fancy grand choice to separate from the chromed surface of the body. Oh I'd be real swell if they would of done that, but the companies of China decided to destroy MatchBox, aaand real automobiles to the plastic nightmare melting pancakes on ugly wheels you see today.
