This was great. I can't wait to see how this program develops. I also found she was skating calmly but I definitely think she will get into the music more as the season goes on. I'm sure she's been focusing on the technical aspect of her programs...a program is never finished until the last competition! There's always something to add, whether it be a facial expression or an arm movement. I bet we'll see a lot more "oomph" later on and I'm confident this program will bring her lots more success!
@iceskaterrn Skate Detroit is one a comp held in Bloomfield Hills MI the 3rd week of July. It's free to come to. Levels are from Pre juv-Sr Men's ladies, and pairs. There have been some top of the world skaters in the past. Alissa plans to skate next season.
She won Nationals this year. She can win Nationals next year. Sasha Cohen won the Silver at the Olympics. Sasha is not consistent when it comes to jumps either but she is a fluid and graceful skater like Alissa. Alissa has the best spins of all the current skaters.
Alissa will have to find that fire to match the music from the Mask of Zorro, particularly in her step sequence which needs much more attack. All of her jumps have improved, so I hope that gives her more confidence throughout the season. And, of course, her spins and spiral sequence... gorgeous as always.
Sasha skated a perfect short at the Olympics, she had one fall in the long, and a step out, but she still landed 5 triples. Alissa fell twice at worlds, bad falls in the short, which she also did at four continents, and has a history of falling in big events. I don't think she will repeat as National champion, and think she will have to skate the performances of her life to get the second spot
If Alissa could find a way to become consistent on her jumps, she would be, hands down, the best skater on the ice. She is beautiful on the ice, spins, spirals, footwork, etc are incredible. But achilles heel is her jumps. With US skaters like Flatt/Zhang,etc competing, only 2 spots available for the Oly team, she's got the fight of her life on her hands to compete in Vancouver. But I love her, can watch her all day, and still want to see more.
To increase her chances of winning the gold at the Olympics, she should put more footwork that she is familiar with in order to increase the speed of her footwork sequence.
I am not anti-Alissa....I never said anything bad about her, and never said I DIDN'T want her to make the team, I just think it is highly unlikely that she will, there are two spots, and a lot of skaters who will be trying to get them who are more consistent, and have scored higher than her internationally, I'm sure it will play a huge role in who the USFSA sends.
I find her a bit slow, but it's probably because she isn't used to the choreography yet as it's early in the season. Hopefully by the end of the season we'll be able to see Csizny with upgraded speed, steps, and expressiveness!!
It's sad they are only sending two girls this year as a symbol of the crisis american skating has suffered. The last time two girls were on the team was 1994 and 1995 worlds. What a shame, I really hope the girls will go for another spot next year.

yes the spins are amazing :D
Michelle Kwan and Nicole Bobek both took the spots at the 1994 (Chiba, Japan) and 1995 (Birmingham, UK)

I think you are right. As mush as I loove Alissa, I'm sure she'll have a hard time keeping everything up altogether.
Jumps are looking nice, great job Alissa.

Who thinks that GP events are going to be weighted heavily coming into Nationals?
Great start this early in the season. I hope more footwork gets added before the 3flip, because I could see that being a deduction.
oh wow strong group! do u by any chance know the second group's results?

I understand.
mmm not me. NAtionals start from scratch. Alissa won SkateCanada and was second at Skate America in 2006 and no one cared...
Why are you so anti Alissa even going to the Olympics? She is my favorite skater and I am believing and praying that she will be on the Olympic team.
anyone knows the results after short?
I think she needs the season of her life to even get on the team, an Olympic Gold medal seems very unlikely for her.
@waddleduckie1 Alissa stayed with her coach that she has had since the beginning.. The US figure skating doesn't assign coaches
what is Skate Detroit? does anyone know if she is retiring from amateur skating?
But then, who would win???
She looks very heathy.
Not this time.
she is so fragile if she falls she might break... so tiny... if she takes a shower she would slip down the drain for crying out loud
