I agree that you need to be in certain "space" to listen to Deerhoof. But they're brilliant when you are in the mood. They bring an energy to their live performances that you rarely see in other bands. The weird interplay between the instruments is great, reminds me of King Crimson from the early 1980's.
You seem like an awesome dude. I’d love to hang out in Mexico with you, smoke a cigar and listen to deerhoof. It’s so refreshing to see people your age be receptive to the beauty of their music. I’ll lucky to have people like you around me, and to have been raised by them, but it’s certainly not common. So wonderful to see you, filled with all your wisdom and experiences, still wanting to just hear and see more with an open mind. I strive to be that all my life. If you ever have the opportunity, see them live. They’re incredible, obviously, but they’re also the nicest people. They still often work their march stands. Wow, such flattering words. I remember studying the stages of life in nursing school. At my age, people often take "stock" and try to find meaning. Pride, regret, etc. I think that's why people feel their "culture" was the best. I say F that. Let's live in the present moment and live one day at a time, but let's be in the present YEAR as well. I’m 37, so you know, I’m still young to a lot of people, and am old to a lot of young people, but what you just said is the best way to live. I run a cafe and I love to talk with my employees that are leaving high school, or in college, or leaving college, it’s just so important to understand younger generations and relate. I relish talking with people older and wiser than me and learning from them too, it’s all so important. That ability connect with the people who surround you. Have you seen that young girl Jazzy? She interviews people and is sharp as a tack. Since you have a RUclips channel, I’m kind of going to assume you might have come across her. She has this great interview with KRS-One on the subject, where he says exactly what you did, older people need to listen and try to understand the youth, and younger people need to hear the wisdom coming from the older. It’s a cycle and we’re all involved. I’ll check out your video. What’s your favorite cigar? I’m partial to Romeo y Julieta, Cohiba, and Macanudo. I actually went to Cuba a few years ago, and ironically got scammed by my air B&B proprietor buying Cohibas when I wanted to try a real Cuban haha. I wasn’t even mad about it honestly, it made me laugh.
