One fine summer day in the nineteen-seventies, I was standing on NT Air's floatplane dock in Fort St. James, BC, Canada. A Conair A-26 water-bomber pilot, who was friends with one of our pilots, flew down the lake north to south at about 20' (7m) doing 400mph to buzz our base. A sight and sound I'll never forget.

Originally registered as N29711, it was later re-registered as N500MR in 1981 under George J. Rivera from San Jose, CA. In 1990, William M. Farrell from Cincinnati took ownership for two years, during which he named the bomber "Gator Invader" and gave it the serial number 43-4769, adorning it in camouflage.
