One fine summer day in the nineteen-seventies, I was standing on NT Air's floatplane dock in Fort St. James, BC, Canada. A Conair A-26 water-bomber pilot, who was friends with one of our pilots, flew down the lake north to south at about 20' (7m) doing 400mph to buzz our base. A sight and sound I'll never forget.
What an incredible story from the seventies in Fort St. James, BC, Canada! The A-26 buzzing your base at 400mph must have been an unforgettable experience. Thanks for sharing this amazing memory with us! 🛩️🌟

The A-26B Invader is a remarkable aircraft with a top speed of around 355 knots (410 mph) and a range of approximately 1,400 nautical miles (1,600 miles). Mountain Flyers had an open day, so 5 helicopters were used for sightseeing flights throughout the day.
It's been structurally changed by the civilian up grade! Most of the military equipment can never be reinstalled

Hi Matt,
Wowza!
Do you know why that plane was in town?
Hello! Thank you for your comment. The Douglas A-26B Invader is indeed a rare and fascinating aircraft. It's known for its versatility and served in various roles, including as a bomber and ground attack aircraft. As for why it was in town, it is now parked here in a hangar.
I'd also be interested to know the reason of its presence there, and if it will ever go back at TinaFly or not
Tina Fly sold this aircraft "Rum & Coke" to a new owner. Tina Fly had the pleasure of flying this beauty to its new home in Bern with one laughing and one crying eye. For the last time, they were able to enjoy the impressive sight and breathtaking performance during the flight. Now the plane is parked in a hangar here in Bern, Switzerland.
Amazing ship.
Too bad the driver cant keep it on the centerlines. Almost got the left gear in the grass.
A26 time here.
Thank you for watching! My heart jumped with joy to spot this amazing Douglas A-26B Invader "Rum & Coke"! 🙏😊
Was this airplane once assigned to the National Guard headquarters at Andrews AFB back in the 70’s?
Between 1970 and 1995, the Invader aircraft underwent several changes in ownership and registration. Originally registered as N29711, it was later re-registered as N500MR in 1981 under George J. Rivera from San Jose, CA. In 1990, William M. Farrell from Cincinnati took ownership for two years, during which he named the bomber "Gator Invader" and gave it the serial number 43-4769, adorning it in camouflage.
What an absolutely beautiful airplane.

2:22 6 guns ?
Thank you for your comment. The Douglas A-26B Invader (early A-26B models) were equipped with a total of 6 guns (.50 caliber) allocated in the nose housing. The later B-26B model was equipped with 8 x 12.7mm machine guns mounted in the nose. They also had three guns installed in each wing. This classic aircraft was originally designed as a light bomber and ground attack aircraft during World War II.
