I was born in a house backing onto that park (Beaconsfield Road). Excellent video, thanks to Busyboy 42 for sending me the link.

Glad you liked the video mate. Sky Pirate has done quite a few in the local area, check them out!

I had a friend who lived on that side of Beaconsfield Road. One time, our mutual enemy appeared at the back fence - he'd donned a pair of wellies and waded along there. after climbing down from one of the bridges that led into the park further up. The brook was usually so shallow you could do that without any danger. A different business after heavy rain, though - it flowed really fast and the waterfall generated by the little weir near that point was distinctly scary to see.

Wow, great to see this aerial view of my former stamping-grounds. My old school (Chesterfield) comes clearly into shot on the right of the picture from about 14:50 on, with SS Peter and Paul Church just beyond (but it was the older one that was there in my day).
Nice to see wildlife being encouraged like that, with the Turkey Brook remodelled. A few hundred yards of it in its unaltered state can still be found along the southern side of Gilbert Street (not featured in this clip). When I was a lad in the late fifties, we had a swan living there for a few months, and were treated once to the sight of it flying swiftly along the brook. Then suddenly it wasn't there. Did it just up sticks and go, or did some sort of rescue take place? We'll never know.

I’ll try and do a video of Gilbert Street and the continuation of the Turkey Brook. Thanks for watching. 👍👍😀
