Nice video and it shows again that one doesn't need to have all the latest bells n whistles to have fun out there. Have a great day and keep these videos rolling.
Love it mate, i miss my old tb42 carby, never really had a issue with mine on hills, i also ran a welded front diff and 37's most of the time, Just a little advice try airing your tires down to around 15psi it makes a huge difference especially on rocks, keep up the vids mate
that's minttt, I might go to 37s one day but I'll probably switch to 4.6 GU diffs before I do. And yeah I was only at 20psi because I didn't really want to be popping beads out there on my own, ideally I'd run them a little lower
@@jambaby7913 nope could still sit on 120 down the highway hahaha Electronic ignition, advance the timing, extractors & tweak the carby, was thirsty but went good
Good effort, since the front is welded you only need to turn the passanger hub off and use it in 3WD, at least make it a little easier to get back to the main track. Hope nothing too serious.
Dude you should put a GoPro inside the car so we can see your reactions when you drive. Would be a cool way to get another angle on those solo trips too
I’m about to pick a td4.2 turbo with 250k for 7k in decent nick but will need a bit of work as it’s a 24 year old car.... There’s some decent ones around for good price still 👍🏼
@@123mj1234 Nice. Don't waste your time with shims. Ive had shims, many mates have had shims. They all bugger up in time too. I went 4.6 ratios & TJM air locker. Its a game changer 👌👍😉
Your vehicle reminds me so much of mine. Except mine is the swb, even the exhaust/note (minor leaky sound too?) I think TB42 sounds wicked under load with a good throaty exhaust system.
yeah mine doesn't even have an exhaust right now, its chopped off under the seats so pretty much as loud as physically possible ahaha. It sounds alright in low range, but god I hate it on the highway 😂
Good video man! I like the concept to make it interesting on your own! I do the same! On that last track were you broke if you got the rear of the car over to the right more you wouldn’t of been going up that step on such a angle and it might have popped up. Both front wheels climb it at the same time. What was it cv? Be careful driving on broken Cv’s depending on how they break they can lock up steering
To be continued in the next video...............been to swann gully once, keen to get my GQ back there even since my engine swap and tyres. Need an excuse to leave the family at home lol
@@123mj1234 shouldn't be a surprise. Wheels not pointing straight, driving into an obstacle and not moving forward. All that torque has to go somewhere.
@@Nick-sd7um it’s a TB carby, what torque 😂 nah I get what you’re saying, but the front wheels are still able to slip on the rock before a CV reaches breaking point. The simple fact is you would never break GU CVs driving that gently, GQ CVs are just tiny.

At least you made it to lvl5, I managed less than 20m of muddy track, 4wd wouldn't engage, that was it. Took 4 hours to get the car out.

On the next episode, the patrol gets a new front left cv and rock sliders. Please build some before those sills get even worse than they are!
