For all those that are complaining about the speed switching technique, if you think about it it's a gem because you can change speeds with just 1 hand if the other is occupied holding something in place.

@usdpaulp The direction button is larger than it used to be, so a few times we flipped it to neutral and changed settings on accident. Irritating, no. On the plus side, no switch to go bad. On the flip side, it is different than anything else.
I feel like it is an amazing change, I’m a mechanic and I find with throwing tools around the shop from place to place the mode it’s in will switch without me knowing.
@@octaviooctavio819 Almost every time. I often use my impacts as drivers. I switch them to low to seat the bolt then torque it with a torque wrench. In high, my impacts usually over torque on the first hit.
That speed switch reminds me of the welder i used at work. I loved that wire welder. If i had multiple difference heats and speeds, i could set up to four settings. I would have a super low heat as (1), then pulse at (4). Loved that thing.

Milwaukee just set the bar for the next 10yrs like they did with the original m12 stubby. Companies needed 10yrs and 18v to FINALLY catch up. I think that trigger will get phased out or made optional, but can't wait to upgrade
Given that I like to fidget with the trigger, including the quick *buzz buzz* when I pick it up, I see the mode switch being a problem. I love my m12 stubby though. So much better than the 1/8th inch adapters on the impact driver (which I took a lugnut off with once, by the way). The M12 platform has been worth every penny.
That's incredible torque for a stubby , workshop addict know there stuff. Available in 1/2 and 3/8 drive . I would trust 1/2 " size for stubborn awkward confined spaced bolts but unsure of 3/8 .
3/8 is just as good. The sockets fit into tighter spaces too. Got mine for mechanic work and it does great. It occasionally has a bolt it can’t get off but that’s usually because it’s too rusted or something. Powerful little impact.

@georged1085 no because the m12 and m18 have their purposes. Impacting fir long periods if time on thw smaller m12 batteries causes premature wear and unnecessary battery damage

Yea I got the 3/8 with a 4amp amazing power obviously the 1/2 will work harder and yea I know you can use a 3/8 to 1/2 but it’s never the same as the actual 1/2
It’s a good tool, but the only negative is you can watch the torque test channel and they show that you need the 5 ah high output Or it doesn’t get anywhere near the 550 rating that it says
@@Irishluckily I've working on heavy duty trucks for more than, 10 years , only using dewalt , I've never had an issue with dewalt . On the other hand , Milwaukee does not have enough power to do the job , batteries never have enough charge , the batteries are broken. Or they don't hold the charge. @1stRanger thats the mindset problem of kicking the can down the road. Many mechanics forget that stuff like oil change, caliper bolts, etc are stuff that will be opened and shut fairly regularly. Brakes get can adjusted a couple times a year. So when someone is half assing these guns without being careful, thread can get stripped, bolt can be rounded off, etc. It just takes few extra seconds to be careful.
For those that are complaining about the way you switch modes, I implore you to look at the guts of one of these things and you will understand why the normal push-button mode change was eradicated. It quite literally could not fit because of the changes to the motor size.

I knew a new was going to come out soon but there were no information online anywhere or rumors.. all good tho. I haven’t even used it yet besides to change out some brakes 1 time,. Really liking mine can't believe so many people complain about the switch it feels like the perfect way to do it and gets rid of the button that let's a bunch of stuff into the case. I think they killed it and improving on the gen 1 was asking a lot.
Because most people would switch it by accident. A physical switch worked every time and lets you know it's in the right mode. This is just weird and goofy

I like the neutral gear shift that’s a good idea way better than the stupid button on the top like the old m12 and also the stupid installation driver for cabinetry with no reverse switch
The new High output batteries are made of a much more durable plastic, they also redesigned the clips slightly for a better fit. And honestly I’ve dropped my old m12 batteries from a 20+ foot ladder many times while installing gutter and still never broken one…. It might not be the most durable design but seriously it’s more than strong enough.
That speed selector is unnecessary. I say so because I have the old one, and that was NEVER even CLOSE to being a complaint. I DID wish the backlight for the speeds was brighter on the old one, but I have managed... My big gripe with these is that the nut-busting torque is one thing, but for tightening, they're useless. Unless this one's different.
I work in a diesel shop and pretty much exclusively use the 3/8. Pick up some of those flat impact rated adapters that can step it up to 1/2 if needed.
I have a high torque and a bunch of the 1/4 hex drivers so I kinda need or want a mid torque so I may pick one of these up but I my need more batteries and I imagine there is a decent power difference with a bigger or ho battery I just have small ones

Just got one it has impressive power. The friction ring popped off and disappeared in about 5 minutes of use

It only switches when in neutral (when the direction button is in the middle and does nothing)

They need that mode changer on the 1/4" impacts. Always accidentally bumping it when putting in torque screws or sheet metal screws.

Yes. They added some clips that hold the battery pretty firmly so they don't fall off anymore
