Jay Ward and Bill Scott, of Rocky & Bullwinkle and George of the Jungle, much admired Roger Ramjet for its sharp satirical humor. The Ramjet cartoons were backed by AMF (American Machine & Foundry) and were originally bartered to TV stations in exchange for commercial air time to advertise AMF bicycles and toys.
The theme song's lyrics were sung to the tune of "Yankee Doodle" and it was written and composed by Paul Shively and Charles Koren, and performed at the organ by Ivan Ditmars (of Let's Make A Deal fame). The first and third verses were sung over the opening credits. The second and third verses were sung over the closing credits. The chorus was sung after each verse. Sung by Dick Beals, who did the voice in the "Speedy Alka-Seltzer" commercials.
I used to watch this regularly for years, not because I was particularly fond of it, but because in Australia it was aired at 5:55 each night and it was between two shows I watched.
1965 according to IMDB.. I watched this circa 1985-6 or so as a kid, along with Jabberjaw and The Monkees.. Reruns are a great thing. One of my daughter's toys plays a "Yankee Doodle" tune and all I can think of is Roger Ramjet lol
Thank you! I barely remember Roger Ramjet when I was a kid in the 60s, but, I remembered it from watching Wallace & Ladmo when I moved to Phoenix in the 80s.
I maybe watched this once 20 years ago. but the theme song gets stuck in my head on a weekly basis. very strange how it stuck with me so long and only seeing it once or twice.
Roger Ramjet is a superhero from our military and when he's tall, he's what we call a military sensation! Roger Ramjet's friends are big and small, They come from lots of places After bed, they meet and ride and fly with mad faces! Roger Ramjet shows us lots of things like how to fix civil rights making war people die, be a war veteran, and how to get in the Cold War! Roger Ramjet comes to ride with us whenever we may need him, Roger Ramjet can be a veteran if you just get in the military!
Man! How long has it been since I watched that! I used to watch this in Australia on the ABC back in the 80's when I was a teenager, just because right after it Astroboy started!
+genabet123 The early sixties saw a bunch of new animation on American television. The old "colonel bleep", and "clutch cargo / space angel" style animation was already outdated!
There was something on TV in the late 80s, early 90s and I think it was on noggin where they did something in this style and I think it was with the same voice actors. I can't recall the name ...
Hey when you're a little kid those little details hardly matter. They didn't matter to me and this cartoon was before my time. It made a revival in the 80s and my mom still Roger Ramjet.
Ahh yeah, Super Ted. Man I loved that. Also Raggy Dolls. I somehow achieved in school the name Banana name. In high school, it got so big that 1 person yells hey here's banana man and the whole school would run over to me. Scary shit lol.
Actually, Roger Ramjet had the Proton Pill, that verse wasn't included here: When Ramjet takes a proton pill the crooks begin to worry They can't escape the awful fate of proton's mighty fury
Almost a quarter of a century later, they made "Dirk Niblick of the Math Brigade" for Square One TV. The animation and story style are almost identical and Gary Owens also played Dirk Niblick.
I watched this only when our family was stationed at Clark AFB in the Philippines about 1970...1 channel made choices easy, It seems like this cartoon was military driven to develop little patriots. Roger used to take his Proton Energy Pills or PEP pills , get super strong and crush the villains. Now I realize, he was just a speed freak keeping America safe while being an early advocate of recreational drug use. =)
Dick Beals, multitracked, the voice of many a boy (Gumby for a while, Davey of "Davey & Goliath", Speedy Alka-Seltzer, WB "Ralph Phillips",etc.), performed the theme and some of the voices. (His rival at sujch a natural voice was "Sherman" (of "Peabody & Sherman") & mid to late 40s "Andy Panda" voice (and in WB "Haunted Mouse", 1941), & "Reddy Kilowatt", Walter Tetley, both on priminated radio shows..
lol... growing up in Germany, I loved this Cartoon in the 80s.. Somehow we were able to receive "American Forces Network Television" and this is actually how I´ve learned english^^
I loved this show. An extra reason fot it was that this show aired during the cold war (1945-1990) and reinforced that the USA were the good guys and the Russians were the bad guys. This show does have a pro-patriotic USA bent to it. This was actually complained about to the ABC in the 1980's by a "concerned" viewer.
Did anyone ever catch the kid's names while they were watching this? Yank, Doodle, Dan, and Dee? Yankee Doodle Dandy as in "Yankee Doodle pick it up, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Yankee Doodle pick it up and may the girls be handy." ;) I hadn't noticed it until now.
Roger Ramjet in his plane, talking to the control tower: "Chief, I'm going to go after the bad guys now...Roger". Chief at Control Tower: "Okay, Roger, Ramjet".
Seeing as RUclips kids killed my original comment I'll say it here My earliest memory of Roger Ramjet always reminds me of when Rugrats premiered on Abc in Australia I was way too young to know what was going on, I thought the theme song sounded creepy like I knew all those kids singing were really old then (probably dead by now)
When Ramjet takes a proton pill the crooks begin to worry they can't escape the awful fate of proton's might fury Roger Ramjet he's our man hero of our nation for his adventures just be sure and stay tuned to this station So come and join us all you kids for lots of fun and laughter as Roger Ramjet and his friends get all the crooks they're after Roger Ramjet he's our man hero of our nation for his advenutres just be sure and stay tuned to this station

"Your ideas are terrifying and your hearts are faint. Your acts of pity and cruelty are absurd, committed with no calm, as if they were irresistible. Finally, you fear blood more and more. Blood and time" -Paul Valéry
I used to hate watching this show waiting for inspector gadget to come on. but now I have fond memories of watching it.
Haven't seen this for years, but for some reason, I got the theme stuck in my head today, so here I am.
Wow, I remember cartoon growing up in Australia in the 1980s.

My buddies and I enjoyed this in college, everyday at 4 it came on. Big ol' Graphix and Roger Ramjet...good times.

Havent seen this since I was a kid. The song just popped into my head today so I had to check it out.
This aired on YTV some time ago and I still remember the theme song from when I was a kid. :)
Holy 14 year old comment
I used to watch this regularly for years, not because I was particularly fond of it, but because in Australia it was aired at 5:55 each night and it was between two shows I watched.
The Old Time Radio theme that runs through 60s and 70s kids cartoons ...
1965 according to IMDB.. I watched this circa 1985-6 or so as a kid, along with Jabberjaw and The Monkees.. Reruns are a great thing. One of my daughter's toys plays a "Yankee Doodle" tune and all I can think of is Roger Ramjet lol
I watched this as a kid on the Wallace and Ladmo show in Arizona. :)
Roger was a little bit like Captain Super.
Never saw it on UK TV but remember it well on Portuguese TV around 1990-1991 (In English with Portuguese subtitles)

I used to watch this on the Wallace and Ladmo show. I lived in Blythe, CA and we only got Arizona channels.
I forgot how doggone funny this show was. Thanks.
OMG LOL! I used to love this as a kid lol! Bring back Roger Ramjet lol!
I seen Roger Ramjet reruns on The Family Channel in the late 1980's to early 1990's, and then on Cartoon Network from 1996 to 1998.
This was shown on British TV a lot in the 1980s.
I used to love watching this on No. 73 when they used to play cartoons in the kitchen supposedly through a projector.
That's where I know it from! My mum said Roger Ramjet looked like Russ Abbot - Russ Abbot's Madhouse used to be on Saturday evenings around that era.
I enjoyed this cartoon as a kid, brought back a few memories.
They need to bring this back..... This and Super Chicken
They would just make a live action version of it
I watched this in KENYA..East Africa
yes one of the catchiest intros
they should remake this too a movie
Man! How long has it been since I watched that! I used to watch this in Australia on the ABC back in the 80's when I was a teenager, just because right after it Astroboy started!
Oh my god... Feeling my age now..
I remember that like yesterday as a child. ..?!! :O

The early sixties saw a bunch of new animation on American television. The old "colonel bleep", and "clutch cargo / space angel" style animation was already outdated!
It was repeated regularly on Australian TV up until the late 1990s. It was finally taken off the air because of the drug references
This is one of the earliest TV shows I remember watching in the New York area back around `66 or `67.
My last name is: Rogers so in Elementary school in the 60's, the kids used to call me Roger Ramjet. LOL
I seen Roger Ramjet reruns on Cartoon Network from 1996 to 1998.
Alden R. Davis me too and Tennessee Tuxedo
Me, too!
and how do you like Hammond Organ?
Roger Ramjet, lol. Sounds like a pornstar's name HA!
it came out in the sixties...Gary Owens was the voice of Roger
I never forgot this, and I was so young.
Loved growing up in the 60s..the voice sounds like Gilbert from Leave it to Beaver.
hooo que buen recuerdo yo lo veia cuando era chikititaaaa, besos grcs por el recuerdo
I was playing this the other day and my sister thought I was watching Barney
There was something on TV in the late 80s, early 90s and I think it was on noggin where they did something in this style and I think it was with the same voice actors. I can't recall the name ...
Dirk Niblik of the Math Birgarde. Part of Square One Television.
@@michaelbadger3433 That may be it. Thanks!

i know i used to watch this show aswell when i was growing up
Ive been trying to look for this since I was in year 2... Im now 19... and my dreams have finally come true.
Hey when you're a little kid those little details hardly matter. They didn't matter to me and this cartoon was before my time. It made a revival in the 80s and my mom still Roger Ramjet.

You watch this, it took me a long time to find it again, Bob Kames at the Hammond Organ==ruclips.net/video/qdCk7uzWNhI/видео.html
Stan from American Dad!!!
Actually, Roger Ramjet had the Proton Pill, that verse wasn't included here:

pretty cool upload!!!! I remember when this show was aired on Cartoon Network.
My friend, gone are the days where we had good shows like this. I think either just before this or just after banana man was aired as well.
OMG...This guy is Stan Smith from American Dad!
The voice belongs to the original Space Ghost.
Yeah they should do a small sketch with a Roger Ramjet outfit in Stan's closet or something of that style
That voice is Gary Owens of Rowan and Martin's Laugh -In fame.
Didn't he also do announcing work on The Superfriends cartoon?
@@canaisyoung3601 That was Ted Knight.
I remember watching on tv from ALBANIAN !
ooooo Roger Ramjet, que saudade....
I loved this show. An extra reason fot it was that this show aired during the cold war (1945-1990) and reinforced that the USA were the good guys and the Russians were the bad guys. Wonder whose pill was more effective, Roger Ramjet's or Underdog's?
Roger Ramjet he,s our man gone in sync of stations ta te ra te ta te and called it plummentation lamentations of pigmentation !!!! Lol!!
Roger Ramjet uber alles!
My brother was talking about old cartoon reruns on CN and Nick and name dropped this.
@dxmediabb
That verse is in the song at the end of the show, not the intro.
Oh shit. That should say "and my mom still loves Roger Ramjet."
I haven't seen this in years.
I can't beleive it
this song's tune sounds like Barney and friends theme
I like the 90's version that was more rock and rolly--then again it's the only one I knew anyway
Roger Ramjet in his plane, talking to the control tower: "Chief, I'm going to go after the bad guys now...Roger".
Chief at Control Tower:
"Okay, Roger, Ramjet".
Well, it uses the same tune as "Yankee Doodle", if that's what you mean. As for who wrote it, I have no idea. It's a very old song.
wait, is this the promo trailer for the new "Space Force" recruiting video?
I remember that! And didn't Batfink also air in those days?
Batfink also aired before The Big Breakfast in the 90s on Channel 4.
haha i still have a vhs of this when someone eats peanut butter and roger ramjet thinks the guy is a werewolf
word. remember the animal olympics episodes as well?
Amazing
banana man ,what about super ted !!! but Eric the fun loving boy eating a banana was always the best cartoon run
I'm a Republican and I like Roger Ramjet.
Anyone knows if the song is original or if it's a cover ?
If it is, who wrote the original, please ?
Please explain?
Crap!!!!, i was just a little kid when this show first came out. ...and yea, i loved it too :)

A very funny cartoon series from my childhood.
Essentially Stan Smith
Stan Smith, the early years.
When he wasn't a complete douche.
wow,.. a long time ago now.
Sounds like Willie Wetworth from the Snorks singing the theme song.

The effects of Roger Ramjet's only last for 20 seconds.
I guess it's a traditionnal then...
thanx mate !
huh, never knew that, i saw it couple years ago on abc.
I live in europe and remember seeing this on cartoon network in the early 2000s wtf
