Such a moving talk Vaughn. Thank you for sharing your story and putting yourself out there to not only help those going through a similar experience - but to inform the world that it needs to change! Can't wait to share this talk!

Dayum, so you mean to tell me that you can't solve inner turmoil by running away from it and being obsessed with getting specific external validation from people who you then proceed to blame for not accepting you because they didn't leer/make you invisible the exact way you wanted them to? The lack of self-awareness is staggering in this one. And the takeaway message is not positive at all, double-downing on how its society's fault that you can't cope with all of the negative things you say and do to yourself?
Everything about this talk is unsettling, because as much as I want to hear and know about what things make someone who they are, as well as what motivates them, how they think, what they value, there's nothing worse than a (likely) fragile narcissist reciting a tired narrative that they continually tell us is so tragic and worthy and, omg, this whole existing thing and assuming that you are being judged poorly by others because in reality it is yourself that is uncomfortable with your own lack of comfort not just in your own body, but especially with your own mind. Clearly there is something wrong if you hate yourself that much and are so consumed with how much you don't fit in with the image you think society expects of you and since you don't like this self-imposed, completely hypothetical judement attacks against you that must be going on at all hours of the day because you notice them not complimenting you incessantly or just naturally being as obsessed with your cloying need to be seen as special, strong, and worthy of the world's adoration.
Ugh, omg, and this line: Changing the things that I cannot accept. Well, you can't accept your inner self without having to admit your thinking may be flawed, but there is true strength in learning how to cope with negative feelings about the self and realized when you can just change your mindset, don't have to change the world. If you are unhappy with yourself, why not work on becoming a person you are happy with on the inside, instead of trying to portray a strong person to the outside world.
"If only I could change my body, so the world wouldn't see my body as wrong anymore." Oh my gosh, this level of self-aversion and gaslighting should not be showcased as something intelligent, innovaative, touching, or deep. It is actually really freaking sad and I can't believe this talk could actually be seen as a positive one for anyone, in fact fetishizing victimhood status hurts real victims
