Thanks Tom! More videos soon. My channel is a bit of a slow burn, but ive got a few in the pipeline. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate the kinda words!
Hurda paletlerden bu güzel eserleri ortaya çıkarman çok güzel bir yaklaşım ve davranış ...Buna mukabil ormanları korumu adına gercekden çok güzel bir ahlak
Thanks Nickelbawker! I would love to remake one of these one day! I have a lot of new projects on my channel if you ever want to take a look! Hope life is well!
To build beautiful art crafted furniture from wood that most people like me have always thrown away? You have a great god given gift. Hope you do well with this talent into your future and I hope you can pass on these great idea's to "many others" too; to motovate them. Thanks for all the many different details in this.
@@treecycled I am off of Facebook. But I am sure you know what would have been my great uncle Rich and Lew. My dad is Pete Jancek and my Grandfather was Bill
A trick for finishing. While legs are still on lathe - apply finish then. Low speed, and apply. you will get a better finish and not have to fight around other pieces.
Very cool build and good use of recycled pallet wood , personally I prefer the look of the natural wood but even so still turned out great. Cheers Tim from Wood 4 Nothing
I agree! the red stain was a bad choice, im going to do a re-build of this stool in the future to get rid of the stain and make some structural improvements. Thanks for watching!
Stunning work and stunning result! Thanks for a great Vid! Inspirational my friend and I love how cheap shit pine pallet wood CAN look good. I normally hate pine as a furniture choice as it is soft and cheap with boring grain until it has aged and oranged and then you see pine for all it's glory! This work you have produced has proven my Pine theory wrong! It CAN look good before ageing! Keep up the good work! Even if I found this video a few months after you uploaded it, hail the recommended video system!
Very nice. Them squares for the legs must of took alot of time to cut drill and stack. The pattern on the seat is very nice. But I think the color is a bit to dark. But it is a very impressive stool.
Dude, I really like your "Attack It with a Hammer" attitude. LOL. Really Nice work. You might consider drilling out the screw holes to get rid of the wires that hold the pallet nails together. It will seriously extend the life of your tools and expendables. But I do enjoy your work. Take care, Sir.
I agree about offsetting the legs and think the finish would have been more satisfying for you, if you had used a sanding sealer and wax. Might have brought out a bit more grain and shine. Nice stool thought. Really appreciate the creative use of pallets.
I like the seat, very ceative. Just wondering why you didn't offset the DP table by 5 or so degrees when drilling the leg holes in the seat. It would look better and probably be stronger
Ant Mallett yeah for sure. at that point I had over 60 hours Into this thing! looking back on this that would have been optimal but I was probably rushing to get it finished and moved on.. my next project should be up soon hopefully. these things take so much time!
Very IMPORTANT STEP about drilling the holes in the seat for those legs is the holes should have been drilled EXACT SIZE on an angle that you wanted for those legs to spread out at the bottom and it is a compound angle and the way you drilled them oversized like that if you use that stool much at all it wont be any time at all until they become loose and fall off
I admire the amount of time you put into this project, thanks. A couple of things I picked up here, one I have never seen someone laminate a stool leg with a centre dowel. Very interesting and I suspect stronger then hell. The other I found interesting was how close you got to a circle with just the table saw. I likely would have gone to the band saw sooner, but hard to argue with the results. Did you think about doing a round over on the seat top, to soften the edge on the back of the legs (just a thought)? Keep up the good work.
The legs are very strong! The table saw trimming was actually pretty dangerous and im surprised more people "safety police" haven't gotten on my case about it. I didn't have a working band saw at the time, but i brought it to a family members wood shop and finished the trim there. I should have just trimmed the entire thing with his band-saw but i was impatient.. oh well/.. The stool itself was more of a idea that formulated around the legs, and as a result It ended up quite wobbly. It sits in a corner holding up a house plant at the moment, and im going to rebuild it in a future video though incorporating all the complaints ive had in this comment section! Thanks for watching and check out some of my newer videos if you wanna see more!
Pretty cool looking stool. I really like the seat design. I'd be a bit worried about the strength of the legs in that the grain of the wood is perpendicular to the length of the leg rather than parallel. If someone sitting on the stool leans to the side the leg may break along the grain. As a work of art, it is really nice!
Huge labor costs. The fact that the junk material You made a piece of furniture - it pleases! But in the end, when You covered the stool with varnish or stain, paint the wrong color, all spoiled...pity! so much labor, and aesthetic pleasure disappeared in. Wood had so many beautiful and varied shades, and this color almost all concealed. While grinding, I admired and foresaw a bright ending...but in vain. I do not know how anyone, but I would still chose the varnish more transparent shades. The stool seat could be made wider and not necessarily round. Do you have the hands of a master! I wish you continued improvement!!!
Can't believe you used the table saw free hand, (keep that up, it won't be long before you're missing some digits,) then went to the "Go To Tool" Bandsaw and finished cutting the circle. Why not go straight to the bandsaw?
I didnt have the band saw in my garage at the time or i would have, i ended up using my friends saw, which is seen in the video. Its not an advisable method. I dont advise anything really, just showing my experience. I have all my fingers. Thanks for watching!
The 8 holes in the base suggest you figured out your first set (no splay) were unstable and the second set with some splay were better. Pleased to see that rungs could just be wiggled in, I was thinking it was more complicated. I assume this is for personal use as the time involved must be off the chart. Final product very attractive. Well done.
You did your best , no doubt about it but at the end you were enable to give the wood the natural colour and it could not become it should be . Keep on trying , you have the both , courage and the passion .
Some neat ideas, but even I got it after seeing the same process after 87 times, try just a half dozen and let the dummies figure it out by watching the video 50 times. Thanks for posting.
Yeah for sure.... It was not edited very well. That being said it was my first video on this channel.. Check out some of my newer videos for better editing and less redundancy! Thanks for watching!
I'm really glad for you. What a kind of red liquid was used by you? Indeed was a great idea for me too, once i've access a lot of those pallets for free...
wow i have never seen pallets come apart that easily and i take lots of them apart. i dismantle them the same as you but i have to pry them off the center instead of smashing them off as you did because they always break or split on me. i guess that the wood used to make them is denser where you live than where i am. rip me :(
You put a lot of time and thought into that. great work! Seems strange to me that when you put that much effort into it that you didn't cut the tops of the legs at an angle to sit flush with the seat, was there any reason for not doing that? It would have looked even more awesome I think if you had put a clear gloss varnish on it, but I like it a lot.
Good job. There is a better way to make a circular seat and faster with the table saw. I (we) appreciate that you sped up the video during the multiple same operations. Just cut them out. Made for a boring segment and I just skipped them. Still a very nice project.
I'm sad that you stained it in the end as the stain soaks into the dissimilar woods differently. Sanding down to a good 320 or so grit and a good oil is usually my go to for similar projects. I bet it looked way better in person though. Pictures never do ones work justice.
I agree totally on the stain choice, it was a bad decision.. But in my defense the whole project was basically a work in progress and an experiment. That lathe I was using was meant for steel and not wood, so i didn't spend enough time with it. The legs had terrible wobble and chatter when running the lathe bit through the center so it was really rough.. spent about 2 weekends alone doing that.. By the time i finished sanding the first couple passes i was ready to be done lol!!
Ugh. Sounds as fun as the 2x4 butcher block work bench im three wekends into already! I've never run a lathe but I can imagine it might take a while to perfect even if it is the right one for the job.
Wow.. Way to much work for that!!.. It looks 👍.. But i would have went a simpler route.. But it really does look great, hope you get top dollar for that..
When placing the runs on the legs it is best to have them two inches apart. For better strength. A straight run like yours is weak due to the holes placed right next to each other.

A very well done job! Watching the process of turning waste into a stool is a real pleasure!
Much appreciated!
Bought that same table saw something like 20 years ago. Still using it. Not fancy, but I've made a lot of stuff with it. Thanks for the video.
Wow! Lots of critics who aren't showing any of their work on YT.

This guy maybe onto a new trend. Decorative firewood. Cause that is all your seeing in this video. 5 year old kid would sit on that and it will fail.
The legs displaying so much end grain is what makes this piece unique! Nicely done!
Nice jobs and very creative.!
Very cool. Turned out really sharp
That thing is a big pile of stool. Lol. Nice work.

bravo,
I wish I had a workshop like yours. My grandfather had one. As I am a girl all of his tools were given to a cousin, a man.
Very nice and thanks
THAT IS A REALLY NICE STOOL!!!!
Thanks for watching rich! i appreciate the compliment
I wish I had your talent. take care
WOW!! It was fascinating to watch you do the same thing to each and every leg.
I don’t even want to watch paint dry or grass grow anymore.
I have another channel where you can watch a quicker version of this. ruclips.net/video/dQw4w9WgXcQ/видео.html
this is a very nice piece. ideal for (say) a beach bar.

After all that work I’m glad you realized you needed to angle the holes for the legs.
my friend. very nice. thank you so much. be happy. bravo..............
Wow, that was a lot of work. My thought, it is great to see someone recycling ! We hope you get top dollar for them !

There are people out there who are willing to pay the big bucks for what you do. Good luck.
To get big bucks for that much labor is hard to do, but it did turn out nice
Thanks for the video. I have pallets building up and need to upcycle them.
Would love to see what you could make! Thanks for watching!
Nice job on such a labor intensive project. You just built a segmented stool. Cool!
Thanks Rob! More videos soon!
You are freaking me out with the hoodie you are wearing, those cords could catch on something..
Awesome project, extremely time consuming, but really awesome

Good video. Careful of your sleeve's. My friend had his arm rip off because of sleeves.
love the job

Way to much work for that!!.. It looks 👍.. But i would have went a simpler route.. But it really does look great, hope you get top dollar for that..
It was an interesting and very long experiment. Thanks for watching Jim!
I like how the legs resemble thin birch saplings, but a taper rather than straight cylinder would of looked better
Agreed, it was a fun experiment, i would change a lot of things, And i might in a future video! Thanks for watching!
Nice stool great workmanship. Not digging the finish. But thats why they make so many different ones
at 10:50 do you alternate the grain direction i think you would but its worth letting people know
Unintentional but i guess so! thanks for watching!
When placing the runs on the legs it is best to have them two inches apart. For better strength. A straight run like yours is weak due to the holes placed right next to each other.
Impressionante, legal.
Remember the OAK pallets too.
Really cool idea but the legs look really chewed up and not a good finished result unless you were going for more rustic chew up look.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Nice job. Next time, wear a face shield or protective glasses at the lathe.
Thanks for the tip! I wear safety glasses most of the time im working, but i actually dont use this lathe anymore, its actually meant for steel. I do have a new wood lathe that i will be using in upcoming videos. Check out some of my latest videos if you want to see more!
