    • @StinkFinger2023
      @StinkFinger2023 2 года назад

@@gutenbird and perhaps it's important you approach the film with the understanding there are literally thousands of multifaceted different elements and angles and perspectives about Elvis and his career and personal life...
You could make a movie about his relationship with Ann-Margret, and you could also make an entire movie about his relationship with Dr Nick, and another movie about each of the bodyguards, and another individual movie about the relationship with his mother, and another entire movie about the relationship with Muhammad Ali..
You could literally make 300 movies, and you still wouldn't be able to scratch the surface of the full story...
So to prevent disappointment, eliminate expectations
And approach this film understanding it focuses on the 100% true and accurate disgusting horrifying manipulation and exploitation of Elvis by the illegal Dutch immigrant who called himself Colonel Tom Parker.
That's what the movie is about
It's just as much about Colonel Tom as it is about Elvis, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised exactly how well Tom Hanks handles the role, and it may very well be his biggest role yet, and I'm well aware of the impact of Forrest Gump.. I'm simply saying years from now, in retrospect, you salute Tom Hanks in his performance of Colonel Tom
My problem was Austin butler. You saw the commercials and thought Austin was a good choice, but I was the complete opposite.
I thought I would hate Austin Butler in the role, and I've actually been worried sick about this for over a year now.
It turns out you and I were both wrong
Because Austin Butler is perfect (there will never be another human being who looks like Elvis presley, no matter how long it takes us to self-destruct)
And Tom Hanks is perfect (we are all still very much in love with elvis, and so we defend him and we want to protect him like his mother did.. we all worried they might fumble the ball regarding our boy, but all of your fears will be allayed...
The movie is exquisite, it's a real masterpiece of art...
You'll know when metaphor is being used, and when it's actually the true sequence of events.. but as a die hard, 100% hardcore Elvis loyalist and Puritan, I can assure you even the metaphoric areas are accurate, because how can you possibly fit his entire life into 2 hours 40 minutes?
But baz luhrmann did the best job anybody could have possibly done
And he has a 4 hour 10 minute version that's going to be released in a year or so, which will focus even more on the final four years and the suicide.
Did you notice I said suicide?
Because that's exactly what happened, and it wasn't on the toilet seat. It was in a barber chair next to the toilet seat.
It was very much intentional, and not in any way shape or form an accident

We, as true fans, are so tired of the tribute artist garbage out there. BTW, this is an outtake from the movie, so being as critical as you are about “mistakes” makes me think you really do not understand what’s going on here. Have you seen the movie? Save judgement until then. I know every little movement that Elvis has during every video performance out there. I don’t want to see anyone try to replicate that. I want to see a sincere original attempt at capturing the essence of Elvis’s impact that inspired the world and set a musical trend in motion that to this day has not been properly portrayed.

@@KNGELVIS I feel like that guy could be played an unseen film of the real Elvis in 1954-1955 with the face blurred out (if such a thing were found), and because the phrasing or his movements weren't exactly like every other film he has ever seen that he would tell us that the guy singing and playing wasn't anything like the real Elvis lol.
I got into it last night with some dude who said Austin was too short to play Elvis. Nevermind that they are essentially the same exact height.....SMDH

I went to the movies kinda pissed I was expecting them to make a mockery of Elvis and my lord Austin did a phenomenal job. Great job to everyone who made this movie y’all definitely put respect on The Kings name!

That is how Austin singing all of the 50s Elvis made me feel. It wasn't that it was exactly like Elvis if put under the microscope but it worked because it was done in the proper spirit, and the cadence of his voice is typically consistent with the real Elvis. I had a feeling if it was edited correctly that unless you are a super fan who has a serious critical ear I knew this would work. It actually worked far greater than I had anticipated. What I wasn't able to necessarily tell until I watched the film last Tuesday in Nashville was that Austin Butler is such a great actor he even had me (an Elvis super fan) along for the ride accepting that he WAS Elvis. That is how convincing he is on an emotional level. I don't know how else to say this other than to say it felt like Elvis himself had possessed Austin, and even though you know you aren't looking at Elvis physically it was as if his spirit made you not see Austin anymore. The look Austin gets in his eyes is sometimes 90% of it.

@michael leitchdon't go see the movie. It's going to do well regardless of what you think or what you continue to say online. I'm a huge Elvis fan and sure I hear the difference between Austin & Elvis but I know he is a great actor who is capturing the spirit of the man which has never happened before. As much as I love Kurt Russell, this is on a completely different level and I can't wait to see it.

Then, I started reading comments from many clips of the movie, and thought, "Okay, well MAYBE". Today, my daughter called and said she saw it. Told me it was well worth the 2 1/2 hours, and that this kid should absolutely win an Oscar for his performance. She said she'd love to see it again if I want to go. Now, I'M GOING TO SEE THIS MOVIE.
