OHMYGOD. i watched the video of this production a lot when i was young. and am watching it again 18 years later. I FINALLY GET THE THESPIANS JOKE. DAY MADE
i watch this again and again, trying to remember my lines for the auditions tomorrow... Im auditioning for Pirate King, for the school production. I think I've got it down pat. Wish me luck guys.
be funny. I suggest "pour oh pour the pirate sherry" be loud. I talked in a british accent just for the hell of it for the cold reading. I went crazy when I found out i got the role good luck!
More like 200 years old but who's counting? ;) But yes, the lines are CLASSIC!! :) "I object to pirates as sons in law!" "Well we object to Major Generals as fathers in law!" Hehe.
For anyone who needs a captain obvious, I just got the triple pun. Funnily enough, even auto subtitles was confused by the accent. Thespian sounds like christian if you pronounce it a certain way. It also sounds like lesbian.
"So you're pirates and you're... unemployed." Great line!! I love this!

I was lucky enough to see this production in Sydney with this cast of main characters! Loved it then and still love it now!!
"So you're pirates and you're... unemployed" has the same energy has "Thou art a villain! / you are a... senator."
"So you're pirates. And you're...unemployed." I'm dying XD
that's the best major general i've ever seen in any pirates of penzance
Oh my god! Love this Major General! He and his improvisations are amazing.

It is not 200 years old, the opera's official premiere was at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in New York City on December 31, 1879.
Landogar85 Gilbert and Sullivan were in America to prevent anymore pirated versions of their shows, especially “H.M.S. Pinafore”.
Major Generals as Mothers In law Great Line
