Salutes to u sir coz ur Nam Vet. Respects from India. What ur leaders should have done was to arm South Vietnam to the teeth and just air raided Hanoi to hell in 1965 from the air. That time North was not heavily guarded by SA-6 and SA-7 SAMs. North Vietnam would have come to its knees period. But as communism was on its height back in 1965 it was difficult to just keep on lookin at it. Neither Kennedy Johnson or Nixon had any idea to defeat North Vietnam. Plus China Communist block countries and Soviet union were arming it heavily against the South. Apart from US army marines, South Vietnamese, the brave Australian infantry combat soldier and South Koreans were outnumbered as well. There were many factors why American troops could not win in Vietnam. They are -
      1) Dense Jungles bushes and thorns
      2) difficult terrain and booby traps
      3) Cu chi tunnels
      4) Roads were cleverly hidden by the communist that lead to South and fall of Saigon in 1975. So it was difficult for the American reconnaissance planes and satellites to pin point the target area's as compared to the 21st century tech.
      4) Motivated VC and NVA fighting men. If they lost men in combat they had replacements to fill the gap but Americans found it difficult in later years say 1969 to 72. It was a unwinnable war.

First casualty of war is innocence - Platoon
War brings out the beast in every man - The Beast of War
The real glory of war is surviving - The Big Red One
I have even written an English Poem on war. I hate war am anti war and love world peace brotherhood and harmony coz War is hell.

    People of Vietnam
My father fought in that war, on the other side, of course. But this is a humane movie that shows how it was like for the NVA with all the untold sufferings and sacrifices of the Vietnamese people during that conflict. For that I congratulate the makers of this movie. My father never spoke bad word against the Vietnamese people, not even the Vietcong. I think he respected them. He even considered the VC brave soldiers, although he fought them many, many times. Their valor, endurance and determination as soldiers and people determined to unite their country finally won. Thanks God this awful war is over, for them and for us.
People of Vietnam: you should feel proud of your past, and know about the sacrifices that your elders had to endure in order to preserve your country. Learn also from the mistakes and atrocities that our forefathers committed; War crimes, arbitrary executions, torture...all of them were committed on both sides and no side is forgiven for having brought them upon one another. If we, the new generations, learn from our mistakes and have the moral courage to accept them and give justice to the victims there will always will hope for a better world. Now that I am older, I would like to do something that my father never could. Visit the country where he fought and almost died. I am told that it is a beautiful country, full of ancient history and kind and proud people. Nothing will give me greater satisfaction than to meet them. I think there are important lessons we could all learn about ourselves and how not to repeat the sad mistakes that led our forefathers to a path of war that took the lives of hundreds of thousands of our soldiers and millions of your people. May they rest in peace and I wish you peace and prosperity.
    sincerely,
    A fellow American

If you like and love those communist asshole is your right but you wonder why those countries East Europe said good bye and never want to be communist again and finally if you love communist then you do not wonder why Soviet was collapsed into pieces and recently Belarusian bore and hate communist dictator and its regime and putting up protesting every weekend and even recently Ukrainian did a revolution to push all of communism ghost out of their country.

Thanks for posting these interesting films. I was born in 66 but have studied the history of Vietnam and the conflicts that kept that country at war for many decades. I honor all the soldiers from both sides as this is a war that should have never happened, the U.S should not have been there. Many brave and honorable men and women from both sides gave the ultimate sacrifice. Vietnam is such a beautiful country. Please post more movies, gives us a a chance to see things from the Vietnamese perspective.

I liked it. As others have said, it shows the war from the other side. As an American, I have seen many, many war movies from childhood on. For me, this movie is a window into Vietnamese popular culture and I can't help but to compare it to its American counterparts. Interactions between the soldiers were very like those depicted in American movies and I imagine the behavior of men at war is a human constant. I was glad the little boy was not killed, which seemed to be his probable fate from the beginning of the movie. The Vietnamese actresses were beautiful. I have known and employed some Vietnamese immigrants and I liked them. It's good to see how well Vietnam is doing now and I wish them well. War is nothing but heartbreak and waste for both sides.

I sometimes wonder what was the purpose of the United States' government's police action (war was never declared by Congress) in Vietnam. I remember pictures of children's clothes burned off by napalm, heroin-addicted US soldiers, and Vietnamese and Cambodian people forcibly removed from their villages.
Fast forward two generations and we now have Vietnamese factories making clothes worn by the children and grandchildren of US Marines and infantrymen. Some US personnel who fought in the Vietnam conflict now go back to Vietnam to visit with the soldiers and villagers who were once their enemies. Some US cities now have Vietnamese and Cambodian enclaves.
Some Americans have even organized efforts to help generations of Vietnamese families who were impacted by Agent Orange and other defoliant exposure. It makes me wonder why we have to descend to madness before we can demonstrate our humanity towards one another.

Pautan Pasaribu Do you mean anything the US produces is not a propaganda? It was Vietnamese who were the winner in Vietnam war , not the American. This movie can show anything, but can not change the facts. The facts: Americans were the big loser and Vietnamese were the big winner.

    • @pautanpasaribu6643
      @pautanpasaribu6643 7 лет назад +5

silent watcher I did not say that US never produced propaganda movies. Every country does such a thing and that's normal. I don't want to argue with you over a war that had been over long time. Besides, both sides are friends now so there is no need to open old wound up. Let us live in peace.
