- Heartbreak High is a high-octane ride into the minds and lives of a group of Australian teenagers. The discovery of a secret map that charts all the hook-ups in the school year makes its architect, AMERIE (16, rebel, loudmouth - THE HEART), an instant pariah. In an effort to set the hypersexual students straight, the school forces them into a Sexual Literacy Program. With her new friends, outsiders, QUINNI (neuro-divergent truth bomb - THE BRAINS) and DARREN (ambitious, super-dooper gay - THE CLITORIS), Amerie must repair her reputation, whilst navigating love, sex, and heartbreak.

Can someone make series about people in their thirties and the obstacle about the real world, like getting a job, paying taxes etc
Honestly! I'm so tired of seeing the same "coming of age" movies/series on Netflix. As a college graduate I need something realistic!
@@haleyrene923 coming of age is realistic?? 😐
@@fluffyplushie16 Getting a real world job/ paying taxes/ battling adult relationships is very much more “realistic” than a typical high school drama.
@@haleyrene923 maybe for adults lmao but adults aren’t always going to be the target audience, and how is a movies aren’t supposed to be life lessons lmao they’re supposed to be fun with meaningful messages, not teaching you how to pay taxes that’s stuff you learn online or through classes
That sounds horrible.
the trailer really really doesn't do this show justice. it's AMAZING and nothing like what you'd expect from the trailer. incredibly entertaining and well written plus the representation Is amazing
Yeah i love the scene of darren.. Tho the ending was dark.... I kinda hated harper but atleast the ending was unexpectedly good

I'm here to say that this show ISN'T clichéd, has amazing character development and memorable arcs, relatable dialouge, the main character is actually so likeable, the show isn't generic at all, and is TRUE gen z representation. Please give us a season 2, there's so much more to cover

THANK YOU. I'm in college now, and some college content would seem really refreshing right now
After binging this show, I was invested. So thankfully the main character does not give a self-acceptance speech at prom, Harper's (punk girl) backstory was quite dark, the last episode's ending was also unexpected
bYe Harpers trauma was really disturbing😭😭
I’m on episode 5 and I fr hate harper with every fibrr of my being

Yeah i just finished the season earlier it was dark
.. But darren scene made me smile alot.. I like his character 😊 and also cash

This feels like a "Never Have I Ever + Sex Education" kid
I'm actually not surprised that similar storyline movies will be released over every decade. They will continue to make them for the new generation teens. But to be honest teen movies nowadays are nothing like they used to make them in the past. They were somewhat unrealistic but still a good watch.
And at least they try to tell teens about responsability, today literally any teen feels responsable for nothing.
@@TheGenX_ exactly. I agree that life is to be enjoyed and no one should be judged and etc etc. But you have to atleast make some movie/series that will make today's teens realise what it life beyond enjoyment. Be responsible as you said. It's all about drugs and sex.
@@TheGenX_ We really must be living in different worlds then, because all the world does at the moment is mess everything up, leaving it for teens to solve, and a lot of us know that. A lot of things have changed in this century, and all adults are saying is how we suddenly do nothing and just act irresponsible all the time. Somehow adults just can't see that with the change that is happening in the world, problems also change. "Literally any teen feels responsAble for nothing" is so off, it drives me mad. You can't say we don't feel responsibility based off of your assumptions or a few cases, that's just messed up. (By the way, responsibility, is with an I, but, what do teens know, right?)
@@leliatarasova7522 I completely agree with your point and being irresponsible is not a teen thing.. there are many many adults who are very much irresponsible.. and i think maybe (i can me wrong here) the person above wasn't able to communicate properly. Language barrier. Also I was just commenting on the series topics nowadays.. it was just an opinion.
@@Pallavi_S29 and more important than that, if it´s all about drugs & sex, and you have drugs & sex, don´t tell later that 100% is fault of everyone around you, or parents, or adults, or toxic males, or etc etc etc

100% recommend! Loved the diversity, representation and unique stories for each character. As an Australian I also loved seeing an Australian show not just built on stereotypes. The cast was phenomenal too!
I hated the black representation in this film. You can barely tell that missy and malakai are black, they both have very light skin and straight/wavy hair.

I do not know if it is just me but the trailer was so chaotic I felt like I was on a rollercoaster and also I know what is going to happen. The main character is going to do something stupid and then make this whole mess and then almost loose the people that still love/like her and in the end all will be forgiven sounds like Never Have I Ever honestly.

Honestly the show was wayyyy better than I expected
This show is actually more than just another high school drama
This show is actually so good and deserved to be promoted more.
looks amazing!! the big unrealistic thing is that they don't have uniforms. A clear majority of Aussie high schools have uniforms!
I think they took a cue from the original series where they also didn't where uniforms.

This trailer does not do the show justice. I binged the entire season in a day and it is by far the best show I've watched in a long time. The way that they capture and portray the complexities of so many different issues and ideas is done so so well. I can't wait for another season, Heartbreak High is a 10/10

If this is anything like the original heartbreak high in the 90s - it's going to be impenetrable for American audiences. This show was the most bogan, super Aussie show ever made, ever.
maybe it's because I'm American but what do you mean by impenetrable for us? like a lot of things only Aussies can relate to/understand?
The original was a cult classic.
I'm not American but not Australian either. The original was quite popular here and I'd pick Drazic over Dylan, Pacey or Dawson at any day. My opinion didn't change a bit 25 years later. This reboot though looks nothing like the orig show.
I love the original show! So iconic! I will be disappointed if this doesn’t not live up to the old series’s
Yet there’s no eshays
Coming from a teenager in gen z herself, I’m loving THIS WHOLE SHOW!!! perfect representation on every aspect, from the way we dress to the way we think to the autistic , lgbtq , sex education and many more aspects. This is the show other “gen z representatives” are trying to be like , you guys did GREAT with showing all different aspects of our generation in a show . WE NEED A SEASON 2 !!! This show needs more attention! also a lot of unanswered questions that we’d love to see in the next season!
this is so much better than the trailer makes it seem. was worth the watch. very entertaining

oh yay another show bout teens dealing with the consequences to their actions awhile the teens that watch ironically don't see that message.
Hello dear how are you doing today
Another show telling kids they are not grown ups until 28 or 30.
It´s all adults and other generations fault.
But It’s adults making those films. It’s not even true story based. No teenager lives like this at least I hope so. But I agree that if a teenager watched this they would not understand the message. Because this show is more sending a « you make a mistake and everybody leaves you but it’s okay ‘cause you’re a teen and you learn from your mistakes » message. I don’t like this(as a teen myself) it’s just not my thing. I don’t feel like the characters grow. The show is not to make them become responsible. It’s to make them think this type of behavior is okay in order to find your true self/identity or whatever.
@@nataliacaminda8013 in fact “everybody leaves you” should be a good message, for me this and in general Gen Z culture is “you made a mistake that caused a lot of damage, but its ok, we all can go to teraphy and handle you are an idiot, you dont need to change anything, you are ok”
This series Is a remake from a show 25 years ago, CLASSIC COMING OF AGE STORY SHOW, JUST LET IT be, WE NEED SHOWS LIKE THIS HALF THE TIME.

For those in the comments and anyone who reads this, it is an Australian reboot of the original Aussie 90s tv hit of Heart Break High.
Netflix is just rebooting the original, which I would say beside Bad Education, it’s the only other Netflix high school drama that isn’t cliche and boring.

@@al201103 The first season of the Original series was fantastic. Dealing with racism, poverty, and didnt hold back in its in yer face approach. Plus, the cast acted and talked real, and how it was filmed was like a documentary at times. Gritty and especially Grungy, it was ahead of all the teen dramas. It focused on the Teacher's lives just as good.
The final "Drazic" seasons I know were popular, but it overall lost its edge by then. It was more a teen soap opera with less compelling, gritty characters and plots. Still good, but the first couple of seasons are still incredible.
Yeah, I felt the same about that. The first season especially. So much happened in that, and it was rough, tough and didnt soften or shine its characters like other shows of its time and kind did. 👍
Everyone in Ireland back in the day was raised on classic Home and Away, as was I.😅 But the early seasons of HBH really still stand out. It was ahead of its time.
@@kylereece1979 Yeah defo. RTE had an agreement to buy 90s Australian content in bulk. So we'd get that and pugwash in huge chunks for July and August.
