It's not. The gun could not penetrate modern armor, tiger is much slower than modern MBTs, it has way less advanced optics and targeting systems, it does not have fire control systems or much in the way of gun stabilization, it cannot properly fire on the move... Tiger I and Tiger II were absolute beasts during WW2, with very few allied tanks approaching their levels of power. But over half a century of advancements is just too much.

Right...the panzer III was constantly upgraded throughout the beginning of WW2. The Sherman as you admitted were better than panzer III's. The Sherman was the equal to the Panzer IV. The 75mm on the early shermans could penetrate a panzer IV from combat ranges pretty easily. The 75mm on the Panzer IV could penetrate Shermans from normal combat ranges. The armor on the Shermans was sloped giving it a effective value similar to the panzer IV (Later models) 80mm un slopped armor. Both tanks had a similar speed also

One exception was the respect shown for the Desert Fox Erwin Rommel, and Pattons respect for the germans after the D-Day landings. Im not a nazi, and glad for the war outcome, but Brits,US and Russians wasnt a hair better than Germany! Patton was right about one thing tho it wasnt the germans that was the biggest threat. That was the Russians :)

LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I put my head in the dust and admit you are right sir.. Mixing up dates here :( Sorrry about that :( But one thing is sure. They did continue the bombing after they knew 100% they had won the war. Dresden in April 1945 is one example.
It's one of the most iconic tanks ever made with a big 88 blazer on the front of it. It could smash a sherman with one shell hit and had much tougher armour. Apparently the Sherman had to have multiple hits on target to put one out of action. The Germans really went balls deep when making this.
Wow the brits really have respect for thing's, to preserve this captured tank from africa and from a real notorious enemy at that time is great, most army's would have recycled the metal.
Daniel Harris Churchill tank was longer but not wider nor taller. It's armour was worse, was slower. Suspension was decades behind and could not have one track move foreward and the other backwards. It was vastly lacking in comparison to the tiger
ExVeritateLibertas Top notch? You mean crudely-built , bad-quality disposable , unreliable tin cans with large caliber guns? Soviet tanks were perhaps , some of the worst ever til the 60-70s.
Daniel Harris Tiger killers? Maybe if they managed to hit them , oh and if they missed they had a 20-30 second reload in average , its far more likely the Tiger hits first , and even if it misses , it only needs 4-6 seconds to shoot again , the soviets had some of the worst tanks , IS-2 was not ment as a Tiger killer as so many claim it to be , it was ment to destroy fortifications , thus the large caliber main gun , the only remotely good soviet tank is perhaps the SU-100 , which mounts the most powerful anti tank gun deployed by the allies or ussr during WW2.

That museum is such a good day out. The cross section cut in half tanks are insane!
Happy that this model is not sitting somewhere in the open, rusting away and graffiti carved all over it. I'd pay top dollar for VIP tour in 2017 if I could get out of work for it.

@@Brucev7 It would be more interesting if they produced 5000 of this, not 1350.

tog will probably never be in running conditions it would be even harder to maintain than this and many of the components of the original tog have been take off i would like to see where a project a kabinka tank museum in Russia is going on restoring the tank maus. for those who don't know what maus is it was a german wonder weapon a 200 ton rolling bunker it is the heaviest tank ever built and kabinka wants to have it running for the 70th victory parade next year
lolz36235
Restoring the TOG wouldn't be as difficult as the Maus. The Maus is basically gutted, where the interior of the TOG is much more intact.
They have a running Tortoise tank.
I recommend going to bovington as i live in England myself. Its breathtaking.
Jackmos11 +1 to that, I've been twice, it's worth the trip, even if you don't live in the same county (like me).
This one is in great mechanical condition, engine sounds smooth and NO SMOKE 👍
I'd love to blow it up
When I was young, mine and all my friends dads and uncles had vivid memories of the war and many stories. I will never forget Brian’s dad trying to kill a Tiger with a PIAT. He launched it, only to see the projectile clang and bounce off the Tiger. He and his mate, turned and ran like hell.;
The sound of the engine at 0:40 is just SCARY!!! and AWESOME!
The last sound a Sherman hears beforw it either runs or gets sniped
I like how the tracks rotate so fast, it's like they're not moving
Look at that majestic steal 😂 it's so majestic lol awesome job on the video👍

At present, it looks like a moving museum. But in its heyday this thing was a sci-fi machine.
OMG hearing this coming in the forests of the Ardennes I would be wishing my Sherman had a 75mm and a LOT more armour :O
you mean you wish it had a 76mm gun right?
Sherman's had 75mm guns, unless it was an m4a4 firefly with the 76mm gun
@@adamlewis6660 shermans later variants had the 76mm and a new turret, the firefly wasnt the only sherman with a 76mm that could pen the front of a tiger
@@OhukaisMies_54 I realize that. The firefly is the most well known, so I just said that since hes clearly already confused on his sherman's
But even so they didn't do a whole lot to the front of a tiger unless it was dead nuts.
What a magnificent piece of machinery. The best tank to ever thread the battlefields.
Hellcat may have been a nice looking tank for some but they were decimated by German armor and the only thing it was good for is driving on paved roads.

Such a beautiful piece of machinery.
The tiger is a beast even compared to modern tanks. Gives me the shivers.
+Thondup Andrugtsang What do you mean by "even compared to modern day tanks"?
+Thondup Andrugtsang WWII tanks cannot be compared to modern tanks by performance but tiger sure looks better than many modern tanks. ;)
But over half a century of advancements is just too much.
also performs well with soldiers amped up on (pertivin) meth by modern standards lol
@@oli7593 Exactly what he wrote.
It took 50,000 Sherman tanks to take out 1,500 Tigers.
Yeah because every single sherman was going against tigers....
kenneth mcgriff And men with balls of hardened steel.
kenneth mcgriff Our Shermans were practically disposable. They were horribly outmatched.
kenneth mcgriff We weren't prepared for the war. In all things, we had to decide whether to mass produce the designs we had, or upgrade. Our planes were fantastic, fortunately.
Docktor Jim Yes, you were well prepeared. It was not a accident that since 1939 the USA send loads of Materials and Merchanaries to Germanys Enemies, attacked german Ships and started smear campains in and outside of your Country.
We Germans lost the war, but not our Brain.
I wish there was an experiment on WWII veterans where they had to guess live sounds blindfolded. Imagine the reflexes on this one lol...
Gentlemen, may I tell you about Panzer 231, a Tiger commanded by Leutnant Zabel ?
231 was fired on for 6 hours by virtually everything the Russians had...and then just drove back 60km on it's own power.
Leutnant Zabel made an extensive list in his report, stating they were hit approx 300 +/- times. There's a rather nice video about that particular Tiger on youtube.
This Tiger got hit by a 57mm in the front and was abandoned, same as Wittmann's 205.

Keep in mind that Sherman's were built to be superior to Pz.III's and IV's.
adda vigner panzer III < Shermans. Panzer IV=Sherman
lol panzer lll created between 1935 to 1938 of course the sherman a WW2 tank should be better than them & saying sherman r equale to the panzer lV is an ignorance
Both tanks had a similar speed also
MorningGI0ry The later models of the PzKpfw IV were superior to the Sherman, not to mention that the Sherman was a target you couldn't miss.....it silhouette was......yeah.....
What a beautiful monster...
I wish they'd make a fury movie about Michael Wittmann from his perspective killing allied tanks by the dozen in his tiger.
That's actually a great idea. It would be like Letters from Iwo Jima
They would never do that. The allied always have to be the ones in the movies who win and kill... Thats why theres no Single movie about just one Piece of German history... Though The German history and the history of the Germans is one of the most interesting and most important history in the history of the World... But they fo never movies about it. Why? Because they dont want the Germans to feel related to their country and their history. And they only want to show us how great Britain, usa, France and russia is.... You could actually make so MUCH great movies and games about the German history....

My favourite tank- a hard to beat beast that munched on t34's and Shermans for breakfast ,lunch and supper.
isn't this the Tiger which was used in "Fury"? As far as i know there is only one last full functioning Tiger left.
Yes this is the one from the film, it's the only running Tiger1, there is a King Tiger running at the Saumur museum in France.
Alexander Davies There is one at Saumur in France and there was one at the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation in Portola Valley, CA. Not sure if it was still there as MVTF collection was taken over by Collings Foundation (think Wings over America). One of three things happened: Some of the tanks still reside at MVTF, a number were auctioned off, and some was transferred to Collings Foundation HQ in Massachusetts. Hope that helps!

Source of fear for allies...
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH
Carpetbombing german civilians after the german capitulation is showing great respect. Brits did not show germans any respect at all.
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH
Do some research Mister. all i have to say :)
*****
Was that why the american tankcrews admitted that even in a pershing they were afraid? The tank that shot first won. With the sherman it was a loss either way. If i had been a maniac like Hitler i would have chosen the same way. Hitler did not have anything called fear. There were choises for Hitler. Win or die. And hey. No need to call someone asshole because he serve you the truth!
LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH I put my head in the dust and admit you are right sir.. Mixing up dates here :( Sorrry about that :( But one thing is sure. They did continue the bombing after they knew 100% they had won the war. Dresden in April 1945 is one example.

wonderful
It's one of the most iconic tanks ever made with a big 88 blazer on the front of it. It could smash a sherman with one shell hit and had much tougher armour. Apparently the Sherman had to have multiple hits on target to put one out of action. The Germans really went balls deep when making this.

for propaganda and defense yes
for practical use not really
@@leonardusrakapradayan2253 Shut up bitch

Wow the brits really have respect for thing's, to preserve this captured tank from africa and from a real notorious enemy at that time is great, most army's would have recycled the metal.
It's more the resale value than respect, massive demand from collectors world wide with massive pockets.
Can't even compare the shit allies tanks to this beast
I think you mean the Western Allies. The Soviet tanks were top notch.
Well the easterners were a different story, great balance of everything. But the allies "West" steaming heaps of shit
Imagine what kursk must have been like. Tigers, Panthers and Elephant tanks everywhere.
I never thought I would say this ,but that is one sexy tank !
