  • Let's check out a couple of cool cars that we recently came across!!!! These cars have been in storage for years! They were actually in a metal building, so they weren't technically in a barn, but they were stored in the building with old tractors! These cars have been in here for a long time! The owner guessed they have been in here for well over 20 years and the more he thought about it, he realized they've probably been in here for 25-30 years! This video will show you exactly how we found them. We did get them out, but that was a job!! Only a few of the tires would take air, so they didn't want to come out very easily! We did finally get both of them back out in the sunlight! We did get them loaded and they are back home! After we get them rinsed off, we'll take a better look at both of them, but it is always cool to see them exactly as we found them!!! Let's go take a look!!!

I’m so excited to see the Turnpike Cruiser up and running! She was my car and I remember sitting in it often as kid fantasizing about how cool it would be to drive it in a parade. Thank you for giving it another chance to shine!

The 50's definitely had a wide range of very unique cars. I feel the 57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser (4-dr hardtop, 2-dr hardtop and convertible) were about as unique as it got. Mercury further separated itself from a regular Ford in 1957 as compared to 1955-56. This was the only Mercury that year with the electric back window. I have always liked the old Mercury (winged helmet) emblems and this is one of the reasons I bought my 55 Montclair Sun Valley (see through roof) 1,787 built with factory air (only 1% of total production in 1955). Great find on both cars. Can't wait to see them cleaned up. Hard to understand why so many of these cars are just left sitting for so many years. However on the plus side, both of these cars appear 100% complete and long term storage kept them that way till now.

Very cool find !! Both of these were high-end cars in the day. The Mercury Turnpike Cruiser was extremely expensive and the Packard was also expensive. My father had '49 Packard and it was a very comfortable, quiet running car. A neighbor of mine owned a Mercury dealership and used the Turnpike Cruiser as his personal car. It was a genuine head turner. Both of them look very nice. I hope you get these cleaned and running and NOT parted out. BTW The Packard hood emblem is a Cormorant, not a Swan.

Cormorant is the name of the Packard hood ornament...not a swan.

Have you ever noticed the headlights on the '57 Merc's? Most all 1957 cars had single headlights. But some '57 Merc's had single and double headlights. Why? Were the dual headlights a mid year change, closer to the '58 model year? Or were some models different? When manufactures want to save money, I wouldn't think that they would spend more money. But, what do I know? I never was a Ford guy.
Nice cars, looking forward to seeing them cleaned up. Thanks!

1957 Mopars had both single and dual headlights...early production models had single headlights until all 48 states legalized dual headlights during that model year.
