It's not mentioned in the movies, but eventually Legolas, Sam and Gimli also sail to The Undying Lands. It is not told if they saw Frodo and Bilbo again, but I'd like to think they all reunited in Valinor.

The treatement of Grima and Gollum shows the virtue of mercy, which you seemed to not understand, but this quality is what separates a hero from a villain!

Gandalf the Grey is a wizard, one of five, sent to Middle-Earth to help combat Sauron. He is not a human, but one of an order of powerful beings called Maia, angels, if you will, who actually helped create the universe. Two of the wizards went off into the east and were never heard from again. A third wizard, Radagast the Brown, appears in the LOTR books but not in the movie. He also has a role in the Hobbit movies. The remaining two are Gandalf and the leader of the wizards, Saruman the White (not to be confused with Sauron).
As with all things Middle-Earth, this is a tiny, tiny bit of information about Gandalf.

Gandalf, Saruman, Sauron and Balrog are Angelic being (Maiar). Gandalf is called Gandalf in Middle Earth but his name is Olorin, Sauron is Mairon, Saruman is Curumo. They took the fair form of wizards but they can shift forms. They don't die. When their body die, they go back to Valinor, the residence of the Valar (Gods of Tolkien's world). Gandalf died fighting with the Barlog but he was sent back to continue his mission.
Sauron was corrupted by Melkor (the most potent of the Valar and Lucifer of the Tolkien's world) and he fell in the darkness and he was Melkor's slave and lieutenant. The Barlogs fell at the same manner and they were Melkor's bodyguards.
Sauron put his power into the ring and he became weaker without the ring. He copied the idea of Melkor. Melkor put most of his power into all world. Tolkien's world (Arda) is also known as Melkor's ring.
Frodo left Middle Earth as he was corrupted by the ring and the scars received. He basically carried evil inside him and he could only be healed in Valinor before dying in peace

The reason there’s similarities with Harry Potter is because the only two things JK Rowling has ever been good at is 1: plagiarizing great works like this and Narnia. 2: spreading hate on Twitter.
