Max is taking his time on finishing FFVII Rebirth Hard Mode because he wants to delay experiencing post game depression
Dread it, run from it.... destiny still arrives.
More like Post Game What The Fuck?
@LukeProduciones if you replaced destiny with depression I would have spit out my drink. Lol
the answer everyone wanted to hear
I’ve been avoiding it since I played through it in normal mode. I’ll probably play it again when they release the trailer for Part 3 so I know when it’s coming out and I’ll have something to look forward to
Nothing beats playing Jamboree, establishing a rule of allowed cursing, then hearing your 13 year old daughter and 11 year old son scream "F@#& you Donkey Kong!!!" Absolute peak gaming.
😂😂😂😂 ahh, i wish i'll play with my kids One day! I would love it.. happy New year to you and your family, Love from France 🇨🇵
And, oh your Art Playlist looks amazing
FFVII Rebirth, Stellar Blade, Black Myth Wukong, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Astrobot, Tekken 8 and 40k Space Marine 2 were my favs of 2024.
Shadow Gens was super fun man. Loved it. Short but oh so sweet.
Pretty much agreed, though I'd add Silent hill 2 remake, Helldivers 2, rise of the Ronan etc.
Rebirth was probably the most memorable gaming experience I've had in well over a decade. I liked Remake a lot, but Rebirth knocked it out of the park. Cannot wait for Part 3.
I'd rather play 16
@@jogsi155816 was a much better game but it'll never get the credit it deserves like most FF games because all people care about is 7 for some odd reason.
@@Thorskad16 was a good game, but I'm sorry, Rebirth blew it out of the water. It's got a ton of issues as both a Final Fantasy game and just a game itself.
@@BusterSwordUser 7 fans when other ff games exist:
@@Thorskad look, 16 was GREAT, the best mainline singleplayer FF since 10/12, but no, just no, FF16, aside from barely being a faithful FF at all, it was a deeply flawed game even as a game by itself, and that's coming from someone who loved 16, it was a damn good game.
7 Rebirth however is EXACTLY what a FF should strive to be, in like, every single way.
My wife watching me play a game always slows me down, of course. But man ‘we’ played Rebirth 100 hours in a week. Will always remember that time.
2024 for me was a year to catch up on games from the past. The two biggest 2024 games I played were Rebirth and Astro Bot. But shout out also to Cult of the Lamb, Baldur's Gate 3, Captain Toad, Smash, Ender Lilies, and Zelda Echoes of Wisdom!
Top five for me were Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, Tekken 8, FF7 Rebirth, Balatro and RainCode. Out of the five, unironically, Balatro was probably my favourite one. Which marks the first time in like five years my favourite game of the year is not "whatever Yakuza game came out this year".
Another appreciator of Raincode 🤌🤌🤌
I beat rebirth on my moms birthday, she passed away 2 days after mine, and when Aerith was going around messing with the crew then cloud said goodbye and she started singing I couldn’t help but just start balling in tears, haven’t cried like that since Joel Died man that game is special.
I hope you're doing ok! Sadly I can relate.
@s.p.d.magentaranger1822 I’m all good! Matter of fact I did play 10 when I was a kid on the ps2, my mom brought it to me from when she worked at the thrift store around the corner, I’m praying that’s the next remake after 7 is finished
I'm sorry for your both of your losses, hope you both are doing well doods!
Best of luck for both of you! Keep going strong!
I’m sorry for your loss :( I hope you’re doing okay!
Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, Helldivers, Astrobot…
What a year.
Bro tried to sneak in helldivers
Silent Hill 2 is my game of the year. Honestly, it was incredible, apart from the performance issues. I hope Max replays the game once they are fixed.
Metaphor, Rebirth, Astro Bot and Tekken 8*
Black ops 6, shadow of the erdree, sparking zero, tekken 8, stellar blade, path of exile 2, wukong, sheesh what a damn good year
In your opinion should Astro bot have been chosen for game of the year and was it your choice as well!
Max gushing over Rebirth's awesomeness never gets old. Definitely goes in my top five of all time.
8:45 Fun fact about Shadow of the Erdtree the dlc has its own NG+ system so the effects of being in NG+ base game aren’t very heavy. Messmer gets less than 10% more health compared to raw new game for example.
Thats interesting…… unfortunately ill never experience it since Consort Radahn is quite literally impossible to beat.
@@coldstonesteveaustin1324hope you're joking, he's very doable.
@ 2:29 Haven't touched Rebirth since I finished my first playthrough, been waiting for PC release and I'm so hyped. While it won't be like the first time again, the fact I purposely have stayed away is going to make the first PC play special. There were some good games in 2024, but nothing came close to Rebirth for me. Managing to hit those same feelings I had back in '97 with OG FF7 was special.
Rebirth was absolutely my game of the year. Japanese games came in swinging and saved 2024. FF7R, Like a Dragon infinite wealth, Elden Ring Dlc, Metaphor Refantazio, Granblue Fantasy Relink and Black Myth Wukong which I know is from a Chinese studio.
@@ZeroJinKuiThat's been proven to have been false. Also people that work on games say stupid stuff all the time definitely western devs. If the game is good that's all that matters.
@@ZeroJinKuiyou sound silly, that’s been debunked and even if it wasn’t it has no bearing on the quality of the product.
@@ZeroJinKui stop spreading bs
The Asian Devs won this year. Even Korea and China came out with their games like stellar blade and Wukong
Each year I like to document my favorite games and far and away my favorite game this year was Unicorn Overlord. It didn't have the best story or characters. But it made up for that with the gameplay, the music, the customization. You pretty much have the freedom in that game to do whatever you want, you can even skip right to the end if you're good enough.
Stellar blade was the only game that got me to play it twice without feeling burnt out all while loving every minute. That and astrobot were my favorite this year. Loved FF7, but I can only handle so much game and 100+ hours was getting there for me.
The fatigue you talk about in relation to Elden ring is the one I had for ff7 rebirth. I love the world of the game, its characters, its lore, the music. On the other hand, I was overwhelmed by the insane content of the game. To the point where it took me several months to finish it, unlike the first part. I had a great time, I can't wait to see part 3. But I had more difficulty finishing the game. Happy New Year from a French viewer
I'm the same, FF7 Rebirth felt like a slog and honestly, by the Corel region I was burnt out on the open world content that was already starting to feel repetitive. Maybe hearing Chadley when doing any form of exploration was killing the vibe for me, I don't know. xD
This is how I’ve been with The Witcher 3 the past seven years. I built a new rig for it and wound up with more than twice as many hours on Elden Ring/DLC, and that’s after twice as many hours on top of that for it on PS4 initially.
A common thing I've come across with people who played it (and I did this myself) was that they felt compelled to complete everything in each region before moving on. I think this might be the real design flaw here, not the quantity of the content, but how it is presented to the player as a series of checklists.
Elden Ring has insane amounts of content in it's open world, but it never shows you a progress bar, you either find it and do it, or you don't. I think part 3 would benefit a lot from a little less micromanagement of the player. Keep a good amount of content in there but let them discover it for themselves
The post game depression in Rebirth is real it's probably my favourite game of the decade so far. Stellar Blade was also a real standout I had a hard time immersing myself in a lot of games particularly the second half of the year but those two hit.
Tekken 8 is geniunely one of the greatest fighting games ever from just a gameplay standpoint. I've put more time in Tekken than any other fighting game ever.
Hopefully Bandai and the Tekken Project devs make the game even better than it is rn. Optimizing the game, putting it on sale more often, and getting more guest characters in will do wonders for its longevity. Street Fighter and Tekken fans are winning
Heat sucks and DLC is a scam. Not really that good
@@Sol-De-Invierno "heat sucks" "drive sucks" "kameos suck" and after the next generation of these fighting games come out, you'll hate them and praise the current ones mark my words
@@taco_sensei Nope. I'll die playing Third Strike, Soulcalibur 2 and Tekken 5 DR.
I love Tekken 8. I didn’t buy SF6 because I just got so into Tekken 8 I didn’t want to waste time on a SF6 that honestly was sort of boring.
@@majorlazor5058 yea it's crazy good. it looks stunning no other fighting game compares.
So many amazing games this year, not as insane as 2023 but still, got a lot more than I was expecting. 2024 has been a great year for gaming and 2025 is also looking to be just as hype if not more. Rebirth is easily my game of the year, just got into the FF games in the recent years (since 2021) and man what a journey it’s been, love the story, lore, characters and world etc etc with the games especially FF7. Both remake and rebirth are super fun and well made with so much love. Will never forget my first time playthroughs. 🌌
"I have put more time into Tekken 8 in the opening year than I did the entirety of Tekken 7"
When you consider how successful Tekken 7 was and how long it's lifespan was, that's really kind of wild. It has it's issues like every other fighting game but as a huge Tekken fan I'm really happy with how well it's doing, despite what the naysayers would have you believe. Super excited to see where things go over the course of season 2.
2:40 I really hope the Return of the King treatment happens for the third VII:R game. Assuming they hit the landing with a satisfying ending, it's very likely that it will get a sweep and most likely GotY the year it comes out.
Shoutout to Nine Sols as one of the my personal top games for 2024. Max should definitely try it out. More people interested in a Sekiro combat meets Metroidvania exploration style game should give this game a shot.
I think my biggest issue with Erd Tree was there were these huge areas with nothing in them, like the swamp area. It's a massive part of the map and there is nothing but a few rats there to fight. You are just wandering and wandering looking for the mansion, with nothing much to do.
The fact that the MVC collection was announced in a Nintendo direct of all places is still crazy to me. 2024 was nuts
I bought a hard copy. Almost bought a Switch version just to support them but I was worried it lacked cross platform online.
Jamboree just slammed open the doors to the pantheon of great games for drunk friends and/or siblings with unresolved issues.
I have mad respect for people who are able to include a Backlog Award for their "Best of" lists. For you, it was Dino Crisis and Punch Out, for me, it was Ace Attorney and Metroid.
My top games of 2024 are mostly games from previous years. I do not have much time to play games and I do not have the hardware to play all the recent ones.
- Animal Well is an interesting take on Metroidvanias, featuring no true combat but only creative ways to get around. This game is mind boggling, a true onion of secrets. I do not have the patience or time to get all those layers, but I did the first two. The environment and art, the ambient noises and the attention to details are all incredible. I highly recommend if you are also into Metroidvanias. You can spend 5-20+ hours on this game depending on how far you're willing to go.
-Momodora : Moonlit Farewell is a classic Metroidvania. It is a bit of a souls-like, but in this format it does not reach those difficulties. It has very enjoyable exploration, movement and combat. The sprite art is incredible. This game clocks in at around 8 hours.
- Little Goody Two Shoes was an excellent survival horror, meter management and dating sim all rolled up in one. It is a bit intimidating at first, but it is perfectly manageable. The aesthetics, sprite art, music and ambiance are off the charts. A solid 15 hour experience for me.
- Awaria : From the creator of Helltaker, we now have a resource management bullet hell. Great electronic music and some really engaging and actually challenging bullet hell segments, all introduced in a progressive way to allow us to learn and adapt to bullet and enemy patterns. Honestly, this was a decent surprise. And, as per usual, we get a new recipe to try at home :3
- I enjoyed Yume Nikki, being a classic horror exploration game and it has very interesting environmental storytelling. It has no confirmed lore, it is all speculation. The music is very interesting in this game and ambient. It overall feels unsettling.
- Disillusion is another trippy game, this time being a dungeon crawler. It is very psychedelic and I loved the story, the aesthetics and the music. The dungeon crawling and exploration itself also works well. Unfortunately, the combat was not great, it was just there and that's it.
- The last game of the year I played was Off. I played it in the original French format. It is a very good game, again bringing an interesting ambiance, some really good music and an unsettling art style. This one does have a very good story and the ball truly gets rolling in the later half of the game. The battle system is fine, but it is relatively easy. An updated version is being released in 2025, so I'm excited to see what we'll get from that.
Lastly, Shoutouts to Plate Up! for being consistently updated, keeping it fresh and for being an awesome multiplayer game.
Oh I got all the time in the world for gaming rn
Rebirth, Unicorn Overlord, Astro Bot, Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, Stellar Blade, Gestalt: Steam and Cinder, Marvel Rivals, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Black Myth Wukong, Nine Sols, Metaphor Refantazio, SMT5 Vengeance.... among some others.
I had a great f*ckin year.
Nice list!!!! Shout out SMTVV ;)
As someone who has never played OG FFVII, I can honestly say that FFVII Rebirth was a unforgettable experience. The sheer wonder I felt playing that game must of been the way you felt all those years ago. I too am looking forward to the pc release, but not so much having recreate
my 100% first run again. Here's hoping Square can find a way to let me copy my save 🤞
It's interesting hearing this. I've wondered if people who DON'T know OG FFVII would enjoy the game enough to give it the praise that the long-time fans give it. In and of itself, the game is a technical marvel, sure, but since the game is so chock-full of little nods and winks to the '97 version of the game; since it's so very "for the fans", I wondered if actual new people would consider this to just be "a pretty good game" and not the defining, pivotal title I and other fans consider it to be. Glad to hear newcomers also see how magical this game is.
I was pretty late to the Helldivers train, I only tried after the illuminate update, and after some 40 hours I regret not hopping on from the beginning, even if it sounds like the game had a ROUGH few months.
Definitely my game of the year.
Is it fine to start playing now I thought there was some kinda ongoing story
@@Paccyd33 There's an ongoing "narrative" where the enemy factions advancements depend on how well the community performs against them, yes.
It's completely fine to start now, I only meant I wish I was part of the whole ordeal from the start.
Seeing Jamboree be a GOTY contender makes me happy because while MvC2 was a massive deal, seeing Max completely ignore Jamboree during the Direct killed my soul
Dino Crisis 2 is what you're looking for. A really fantastic early 3D action game, almost reminds me of Devil May Cry.
I wish Max would’ve had the chance to play through Alan Wake 2 and Control like he wanted to. They could’ve made this list for him.
I'm not sure that would have happened. Alan Wake 2 is a slower narrative driven experience which I'm not sure he would vibe with it that strongly. Control on the other hand is more arcadey-actiony which is more of his cup of tea. I'm not sure how he would vibe with them. They are peculiar games, that's for sure.
Same. I just really want to see him experience the Herald of Darkness chapter.
@@samy29987 He said in this video that if it wasn’t for Rebirth, Silent Hill 2 probably would have been his GOTY.
@@lckaboom6810 There is A LOT more exposition in Alan Wake 2 compared to SH2 remake.
He said he would but never did.
Max needs to play more indie games
he only playes then when YOVG can do it together.
I really think if he played hollow knight or nine sols it would be such good quality stream content
@@bobbyblue4608 Selaco was amazing.
He has like the most normie taste lol
@@Slayernecroswhen he mentioned if it wasn’t for rebirth silent hill 2 would’ve been his goty it made me realize he only rlly has quality taste for fighting games and that’s it
2024 had just a crazy amount of fantastic games and i feel like ill never catch up on my backlog because of that year alone.
Agree about FF7 btw, its gonna be touted to be the greatest trilogy of all time after that last game comes out. The lack of love for it right now is the most insane thing to me.
It's because people who haven't played it legit think it is nothing more than a "remake" like, I dunno, how Silent Hill 2 Remake is Remake. When it basically reinvents the term "remake". I never even experienced the original FF7 and I don't like JRPGs and Rebirth in particular is just great. One of my favourite casts of characters in any video game ever.
Exclusivity definitely hurt the entire FF brand. It's insane that such an iconic franchise is one of the few that's still continued to be locked behind PS for years, basically limiting it's reach to newer, younger audiences. Even Persona of all things left exclusivity behind before FF and look at how much they've benefited since.
i loved OG FF7 but i’m not a fan of the trilogy roll out. i was debating on waiting for the third game to come out to finally get into it. i know i’ll like it but not in a rush to play it.
@o_oro-q1k you gotta look at it this way. FF7 is a PS game and that's probably what they were going for with the remake. They wouldn't sell a crazy amount more on Xbox and PC is the only other option.
Console exclusives are good believe it or not. Even if they are just timed.
@@Scruffytuba PC has a big userbase who are interested in series like these, it's not a market you can just alienate in current year. Limiting your audience is never good either way, the PS only branding has not benefitted this series for over 10 years now. Good thing Square has finally realized this and has decided to move away from this nonsense with their next FFs, but they should've done so long ago.
Dino Crisis 2 is the real gem, it's straight up Mercenaries with dinosaurs.
wait, are you talking about a mod or something? or the original DC2?
@@positiveliberty The original DC2
Great Video Max.
Defo some quality Games that came out in 2024, Wukong, Stellar Blade, Hellblade 2, FF7: Rebirth, Still Awakes the Deep and Indiana Jones plus Tekken 8 and MvC Collection aswell.
I even had fun Playing A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead it's Alien Islolation'ish but on a much smaller scale and nowhere near as good.
If you haven't Played it already, i fully Recommed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
18:09 I played a lot of MH4U before World and I still had that same feeling while playing it, I think World just does such a good job of realizing the MH experience and its living world in the way that most players imagined it be when they played the older games. There’s still aspects of older MH titles that people appreciate/miss having even if they were just there due to hardware constraints or older/more frustrating design ideas (something about those egg quests can be charming), and your first MH experience will always be special, but they executed on their vision for a more interactive and dynamic world so well that it was kind of like another first time experience of its own. Their design in almost every aspect of the game just made more sense.
Wilds is just furthering their push in that direction. They seem to really want to maximize their use of new hardware as much as possible and break down those boundaries where your mind reminds you that you’re playing a game, so that they can build this believable ecosystem.
Not surprised MVC Collection made the list
33:32 "Hard to deal with; Wonderful to pilot". Yup, that basically sums up Tekken 8
Man Max was like a long cutscene away from the final boss in Wukong.
Maybe a couple hidden bosses from fighting the secret boss for the true ending.
Ah well.
@@Mehoyboi Yeah he was complaining about things that he lets slide all day long with Souls games.. Not sure why he seemed to not care for BMW. If MVC hadn’t come back when it did, he would have finished it. He just got side tracked.
@@DFTNSHEXGRMedit its his exeptations for thd game he expected it to be a full action game with a combo mechanics and multiple weapons but it was mainly a mix of action and souls which he didnt expect the game to be
@@DFTNSHEXGRM He literally didn't complain about anything, he just said he didn't want to finish it lol.
Some cool games in there. Recently started playing Rebirth as well and really enjoy it. Would love to see you giving Nine Sols a try. Think you would like it. Love the combat system. Its so rewarding and fun when pull off that perfect parry and counter. Really fun 😊
I got Stellar Blade, Space Marine 2, Silent Hill 2 Remake, Shadow of the Erdtree and Metaphor: Refantazio! Such a great year for gaming and looking forward to see what's next!
9:00 Actually resurfaced my ptsd... *rocks back and forth in fetal position* "in the embrace of Messmer's flame...in the embrace of Messmer's flame...in the embrace..."
I wish I liked rebirth half as much as Max. It’s nice to see someone so in love with a game.
If you love Punch out, there's a modern reimagining of that game in Thunder Ray which is quite good
Yeah, Rebirth pretty easily takes it for me this year.
Shit, it might be my game of the decade so far. I can't believe that as a 34 year old, it made me feel the same amount of wonder and intrigue that I had playing the original back when it came out.
Absolutely, ridiculously absurd just how big and good the entire game is.
My GOTY is easily Tekken 8, I had so much fun with all the single player content at launch, and with the online, new characters and story updates it's a game I just keep going back to, it plays incredibly well and is the most fun I've had with a fighting game in a long time, and as much as I love other games I've played this year, like Metaphor, Rebirth and Infinite Wealth, I just have to give it to Tekken, it's so much fun.
Totally agree. Rebirth and yakuza were epic too. But tekken comes first
I believe they have some great stuff because of 2024 and that the gaming industry did flourish somewhat. Like the coming of marvel versus Capcom arcade collections was a great achievement, followed with some good indie games like ash versus the evil dead/Halloween 2-D game, from MK1 to SF6 and sonic x shadow generations.
I would like to see Max & his friends play Liars bar, just seeing the hype rage they would generate.
24:18 Tekken 8: Fist meets Fate, Max’s pride & joy to play.
Happy New Year Doods!
16:20 lov the reference to the edit of him freaking out over jamboree
I really wanted to enjoy Rebirth as much as I did Remake, but I fell in the trap of getting burnt out by the end of it. Maybe when I try Hard mode later, I’ll have a better experience.
Hot take for what I want in Tekken: Take the combot feature from Tekken Tag 2, and just add a character creation with Combot's move editing. No fighting game that tried a character creation did this, Street Fighter 6 being the closest to it. It would actually be fun as hell to see what players can do. Fighting games seem too stuck on being tournament competitive, but sometimes I wanna fuck around with fighting games, even if I suck at them.
15:16 They need to make a spiritual sequel to Dino Crisis by folding it into RE like they did with Haunting Ground. Bring it under the...umbrella if you will.
come on max no wukong!!!
sh2 is definitely my game of the year. i have smt5 vengeance at 2nd but silent hill is a league ahead. they managed to make it even better
If people's like games like RE or Dino crisis i recommend you Play "Galerians" it a scifi horror RE style very good game story
Considering recent news, I know what Max should play in terms of classic games in 2025.
HALF LIFE.
Idk. Doesn't steam support gambling.. idk...
Dragon's Dogma 2,Rebirth, Space Marines 2,First Descendant,Elden Ring,Metaphor,Tekken 8,Like a Dragon,Unicorn Overlord,Stalker 2,Grand Blue Fantasy,Street Fighter 6,Manor Lords,Stellar Blade,Visions of Mana,Eiyuden Chronicles and Black Myth Wukong
SH2 was an absolute masterpiece, I'm still looking for an experience to fill that void. That was my GOTY 2024
They spent too much time on variety of Wukong Bosses and not enough variety of combat. They should also give better guidance on side quests because THERE IS NONE!
Only side quest that made sense is when the dude said he’s cold and you have to make a fire ring. You get lost easily and have to RUclips everything. Fix these issues and you can get at least one award from game awards.
idk it was kind of a variety with 3 tier stances which you can mix with diff combinations and also being able to respec. The progression in that game is one of the best ever. Also a small ass studio. Next game will have a massive budget.
@@NavAK_86 Great game for a small studio but as long as this game was, those 3 stances did not really give a variety. It’s just 3 different moves with different levels of strength. I would rather have a shorter game with more variety of combat. It got boring, which is why Max didn’t finish it, neither did I. It’s the same combos over and over.
I think the game tried too hard to be special with the unnecessary confusing dialogue that made no sense for direction at times for side quests and if you don’t complete the extra content, you will have a tough time beating this game.
@@kinguzziah1683 Well you do realize you're in the minority opinion here, right? It won best action game for a reason. It's the reason me and most love this game, combat+bosses. I never got bored. In fact, this game forces you to use all your tools and not just attack spam with your staff, that's why they give you spirits and other tactics where you have to time things with your gauges.
In Souls games, which I love, it's far more basic. You can parry and attack most bosses if you're good or just use magic from a distance. Wukong has no blocking or parrying so it becomes more challenging. I'm sure they will expand combat in pt 2.
@ yeah I don’t change my opinion because it’s not popular. Don’t care what award it won. Every game can make improvements. This is what would make it more enjoyable for me.
For me was a great year, blac myth, rebirth, stellar blade, unicorn overlord , erdtree and the very fun Prince of persia lost crown
I only got my PS5 recently so I missed out on quite a bit especially with last year's releases, but there's no rush and I can't wait to play the good games I've been missing out with only a PS4
Didn't play a lot of the games released this year, only Tekken 8, Sonic x Shadow Generations,Metal Slug Tactics and MVC collection, but I enjoyed them a lot(Except for Metal Slug)
Did Max ever finish playing Wukong?
I loved Rebirth..I always liked ff7 but this game made me LOVE FF7:) it was peak
Max VS Balatro - when?
Stellar Blade & Rebirth were worth all of my time
I didn't really play any new games this year, since two of my most played were expansions(Shadowtree and Dawntrail), but even just watching Rebirth and Silent Hill 2 was An Experience. Worthy contenders for sure.
(Sidenote: I did finish Control juuuust before the year ended, so I'm giving that a...retro-active GotY, I guess. Very fun and cool.)
FF7 Rebirth, Helldivers and Wukong - so many great experiences 🎉❤
Max: Whats with all you dino crisis stans?!
(plays the game)
Max: Dino crisis needs a remake
Yeah, but because it desperately needs to be redone, not because it’s THAT good. It needs to be remade to be good
I loved Code Veronica, but I played it on Dreamcast when it released. The graphical upgrades and real-time environments made it a priority for me over Nemesis. Plus it progressed the story from 1 and 2 more than being a side story. I agree it would take a remake to get me to play through it again, but I'd be more excited for that than any other REmake, save a re-remake of the original.
When the Nintendo switch was announced I also thought it was a bad idea lol. As a long time fan I also had 0 faith in an open world Zelda; especially when they initially showed it off.
Now Switch is my GOAT console and BOTW TOTK are some of the most unforgettable gaming experiences I’ve ever had. The exclusives are neck and neck with PS2 for me but the fact a lot of the classics are here makes me happy.
Code Veronica is my true RE3.
FF7 Rebirth, Tekken 8, Astro Bot, Space Marine 2, and Sonic x Shadow Generations are my favorites of the year. Still want to play Silent Hill 2 but can't afford it yet
Looking forward to seeing Max jump back into more single player games next year. MH being one of.
I still can't believe Marvel vs Capcom 2 came back this year...OOPS i mean last year ❤😅
I never believed post game depression was a real thing until I played Rebirth and man, it hit me real hard. Easily GOTY, maybe decade lol
I really loved ff7 rebirth and as Max said it was a magical first experience. Like it was so addicting just to do all the open world things even tho it wasnt necesarrily the greatest open world experience there could be or side quests, but the combat and all the minigames made me just wanna do it. I didnt advanced to the main story until I was done with that region, it was just great. Shame the hard stuff really sucks, it was more enjoyable in ff7 remake to me, but what a game. Currently playing the original ff7 and its so great.
that commentary on mario party is so true
it had a winning formula, very simple for a good long while even beyond the n64. strangest choice was moving away from the branching boards. glad superstars brought that back and looks like its here to stay again. as it always should have been
No timestamps (without spoilers)?
All the marvel vs capcom games feel really good
Fighting games with all these special meters, bars, ults and crazy stuff is so different to how they used to be tbh I find then weird now.
Same tbh
I understand what you mean about Elden Ring DLC. I think its the same thing who keep me to be a GTA : i believe the more Liberty you get, the less fun it becomes. But at the same Time i see some contre examples (sorry i dont know how to say it in english). Outer Wilds you got full liberty but i enjoyed every moment, BUT at the same time : when you Finish it, Platinum it will you Honestly return to it? No, because the blow it will make on your mind and heart, you know you'll never feel the same émotion again...So, you can say: Full Liberty + Extraordinairy narration= less Re-playability.
I see a pattern here. I see some sort of equation here.
Please check out Nine Sols!! It's an absolute masterpiece, and changed my outlook on Metroidvanias
I really want to know your opinion about Final Fantasy summons ..can we get Dissidia: Rate The Super Video as a start?
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is like a gorgeous wedding cake that turns out to be made of Styrofoam-stunning on the outside but hollow and disappointing inside. After 70 hours of chasing chocobos and enduring endless mini-games (seriously, Whack-a-Cactuar?), I couldn’t help but wonder if the game’s biggest challenge was staying awake.
And Sephiroth? He’s everywhere. It’s like they turned him into your overly enthusiastic coworker who keeps popping up to remind you he’s important. The constant appearances have sucked the menace out of him, leaving a character who was once terrifying feeling almost... ordinary. And then there’s Zack. Part of his brilliance in the original was the mystery, the way his story lingered in Cloud’s fractured mind. By overexplaining everything, they’ve turned something profound into something you’d skip through in a cutscene.
The open world? Big, empty, and repetitive-it feels more like a chore chart than a playground. Honestly, I’d take a tight, focused narrative over this bloated, nostalgia-fueled spectacle any day. But hey, if you love it, more power to you. At the end of the day, fun is subjective-just not something I found much of here.
If you wanted a one to one remake of the original just play it with mods. Couldn’t possibly disagree more about everything you said. Thankfully opinions like this are a vocal minority
@@blackout1518you say that and yet rebirth didn't win GOTY
@@inspectordonut5622 Well I guess if a game isn't LITERALLY THE BEST GAME MADE IN AN ENTIRE YEAR then it must be bad, right?
Getting nominated means your game was one of the best of the whole year you dope lmao
I finally got my first fighting pad so excited to play fighting games again❤
Maxs third strike shirt is so nice I need it !
I'm a big fan of both Dino Crisis and Code Veronica (more so the latter), but I agree that remakes of those titles would be great to see.
Black myth wukong was my game of the year! Love that game so much .
Max's top games of 2024
If those players stayed on fightcade I think more people would have stayed on the marvel collection 😂😂😂
Happy to hear you be completely honest of Dino Crisis’ quality.
Essentially, great idea, not great execution.
“Did the stans actually play this game?” 😂
The Tekken 8 part really surprised me because I’m so used to people hating that game to their core.
I played just six new games this year, but I'd consider three of them "A" tier to put on any sort of list: Rebirth, Stellar Blade, and Astro Bot. I also played Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Metaphor, and Persona 3 Reload. They'd be more B tied to me, but still highly enjoyable.
There are still a few things I'd like to play, such as Black Myth Wukong, but man does that game's fanbase turn me off from ever wanting to play it. And I say that as an FF7 fan, haha
Games of the years for me was the OG Ninja Gaiden games for the Nes and FF7 on the Ps1.
There was some really good games in 2024. Just have to ignore those studios and ips used to like and just have to play whats good. Some stuff going downhill but still lots of good stuff out when u think about it.
Amazing year, I have games to play from this year for another 2 at least
Who all agrees with Astro bot winning game of the year for 2024, just curious?
Astro Bot, FF7 Rebirth, Balatro and Metaphor all would've been acceptable choices
DINO CRISIS 2 IN 2025!
