Everyone needs to call that store and tell his boss that that employee needs a raise ASAP!
Haha he was awesome!
I agree. I love game stores where the workers have basic social skills. 😂
I agree!!
You're going to get that man fired for giving such big discounts.
You guys are noobs, you don’t blow into the game you heat up the pins in the cartridge that’s why it worked when retro did it..uhhhh
Glad you got it! I'm the one that sold it to Kapow. Was my childhood Nintendo I held onto it for a long time. I was yelling at the video about how to get the game to work lol. Glad it went to a good home!
Crazy coincidence that you watched the video of an item that is super rare to find that you traded in
@@ThePeacePlant the owner of the shop told me about it lol otherwise I wouldn't have known
How was your family able to afford it back then lol. Wouldn’t it be like a ton of money back then?
@@Redfield2008 rent to own apparently. Actually didn't even k ow that's how they got it till recently. Always assumed it was a floor model or something as we usually got systems after the newer system came out in this case the SNES
@@beardedkappa1742 Ok ok, that makes more sense now thanks. :)
I love that guy in the store.. it's so nice to see someone who actually loves their job..he's in his element !
He was so nice when I use to go there
He was such a sweet and kind guy. Thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him!
Going to a game shop and seeing the employees be as knowledgeable and as obsessed with games as I am is an awesome thing.
Agreed , he was so enthusiastic it was refreshing
Im Tryn fall in love with you. You look beautiful
That’s amazing how much the dude behind the counter helped out, not just with looking at stuff but pricing as well. Hats off. You guys got a great deal!
The Sharp/NES TV was sold exclusively at K-Mart and to find the original controllers that came with the TV even made the deal sweeter.
I’d like to just have a controller from it.
nice, i didnt know that...thanks for the info!
My grandpa worked for sharp from 80 to 94. He told me a few years ago before he passed away that Sears, KMart and a few circuit city stores sold them and that was it. Any sharp dealer could order them to sell in their stores but most didn't.
i thought it was through a Sears catalogue?
The names Rick, Retro Rick. *Proceeds to get the game running in 5 seconds*
got that touch mayn!
My local gamestore has one but with a broken leg.
I know that move. Push it in, down and pull it out. Sounds sexy 🔥😘
😂

My grandma had this TV/NES combo and it was basically my weekend system from 88/93 as I spent weekends and summers at her place.
I will say when I was a kid, Mario 2 was the one that interested me the most because it was so different and the music was great!
My best friend has one sitting in his old room at his parents and he honestly probably doesn't realize what it's worth
oh dang...id love to buy it from him hahaha
What are you waiting for go get it!!!
It's only worth what the buyer is willing to pay...
I'll give him 20 bucks
@@Batman-bl5qy that's generous for an untested piece of hardware. I'll take $55 up front to cover the disposal fee.
Nice! I got mine off eBay right before prices sky rocketed a couple years ago. I paid $400. You friend should join the Facebook group “Sharp NES TV Owners!” There is a guy in there that finally figured out 3d modeling the doors and he 3d prints and sells them. Also he should register the serial number with the group since they are so rare!
oh dang, what a deal!!! Id love to get one one day
I'm looking for that group but I cannot locate it...
That store is nuts. I've never seen so much nostalgia in one place.
Imagine owning that back in the day. So sick.
I'll trade you my shrek tv
I bet if you traded in all your videos and your purposely disgusting faces in them he would trade you for it
ill trade you 2 reese's pieces
I’ll trade you Cheesies
@rickyberwick I’ll trade you a king size Reece’s Cup!
@@ThePeacePlant
LoL, what?
That is truly one dope store. My jaw dropped at what they had in stock. Great score!
I passed on one of these for 350.00 bucks two years ago. No original controllers and all the plastic legs were trashed. My biggest fear was repair if something broke down and I would try to preserve it over playing games with it. Glad you were able to take it home. They are rare as dragons teeth although I met a guy in Myrtle Beach who has an arcade/video game store and I think had a total of 5. He had an incredible collection of stand ups.
Amazing! Love your channel!
Your friend not wearing a mask... that’s is really disappointing
Don’t understand why people can’t be considerate for a few moments and show the same courtesy and respect. I’m with you
I’ve always enjoyed the thrill of the hunt for these old video games!! It’s definitely all part of it!
I bought a used NES and thought the pins needed replacing. I could only get half my games to work sometimes. After watching Rick do his magic I learned the ancient technique to getting the pins to line up; you need to pull the cartridge out just slightly so that its right up against the front wall of the slot. All my games work now, just saved me so much trouble and money. Thank you, Rick 🙏
As someone who grew up with a Sharp TV until the year 2000 (I'm dead serious, this was the MAIN TV, and it was NOT a big TV, below 20 inches, probably around 15) I can vouch for that brand. I had my absolute best gaming moments on that TV, and it had mono sound, lol. No SCART, NES was over RF, and the N64 used the right audio channel. It was legitimately awesome.
I remember this. My neighbor had one when i was a child. Man such nostalgia, thank you so much.
I used to thrift and and do trades for old rare sneakers and jerseys, it never occurred to me about video games and consoles, I’m glad i found this channel, i may only be 18 but i love anything and everything nostalgic!
Dude I live 5 mins from Kapow and lost it when I saw that tv wasn’t in the case anymore! The employee told me someone came in the same day as you did to offer a trade for it and they turned it down . Also, I legit found an entire pristine NeS and games at that same goodwill! If you’re ever in North Little Rock, holler!
This is in Arkansas? You guys are in the hood right?
@@DAVIDTORRESANI 🤣🤣🤣
What an amazing find with that TV. I've never seen one before but now I can see that I have. The tiger electronics games were an awesome pick up as well. 👍
someone was selling one of these locally on facebook for like 50 bucks and i asked about it and then the next day the listing disappeared and reappeared with a way higher price tag X(
I found one of these Sharp NES TVs about 8 years ago through goodwill's auction website. My roommate bought it as he was a big collector. It worked great but did not have the original controllers. Pretty sure it was under $200 at the time.
My friend had one of these. Black controllers and all like 20 years ago use to play it all the time. Weird that now it’s a collector’s item. But it is really cool. The feet on the base acted like a place to set your controllers down when not in use. Also these were only available at hotels originally. So getting one was mostly because you knew someone when the hotel upgraded their tv’s.
I have my parents Sony woody cabinet in my basement with my Colecovision, Intellivision and NES on top. You can’t beat that nostalgic feel. Even though it doesn’t compare with the consoles of the 90’s, it’s still a part of video gaming history.
Sad that Sony doesn't care about thier history
His wife “I thought the contractors for fixing the floor would be here by now” Rick “ well, we don’t have a new floor but we have this TV now!”
A couple of weeks ago I paid $60 for a Sony Trinitron when I told my wife how much I paid for it she gave me that look that she does when she gets really mad.
Bahahhaha
@@west-texas9806 aw, lol my partner said you paid for it? Lmao
hahaha sounds like me....
@@west-texas9806 hahaha ive been there
man the atmosphere a crt gives off makes it so tempting to buy one yourself. that sound, that glow. i guess just getting the old consoles isnt enough.
Great find! The rush I had purchasing one was top 2 for me too!
You guys are rookies papas.
When all else fails you have to do that little grind that retro Rick did at the end.
Its that grind that sometimes catches and the game will start.
Good thinking Rick
Sooo awesome!!! I saw one in person for the first time just 5 days ago and I hadn’t even heard of it until just last month. The retro video game store down the street from me has TWO of them!!! But they aren’t for sale. Still really really cool to see in person.
These videos make my day. I love it! Thank you for all your uploads, Rick! I rarely shopped at Goodwill until I started watching your channel. While I haven't found many good deals as you, I love that feeling prior to going. Haha. Anyways, great video man! Great find, too! NES was a great console.
I remember my Nintendo had a spot where you had to pull the game out so the cart hit slightly as you pushed it down, sounded like that's what you did with the click as it went down.
you are exactly right!
I have the controllers to one of these with my actual NES. A buddy of mine had this TV when I was a kid, and I traded him my stock controllers for these black ones. I've had them for years.
The cash register guy was feeling like a celebrity towards the end the way he was hitting those keys lowering the price! Like Leslie Nielsen calling balls and strikes in naked gun
I knew a guy that had one of these back in the early 90's. It was the only one I ever saw. I never would have thought these were worth so much.
This all just reminds me how great it was to be born in the early 80's. I got to enjoy these things as they came out. I had my fun and broke it all. I have no idea how people could buy any of this, and barely touch it all this time.
The Fonz of retro gaming. What a find guys great video.
I’ve ALWAYS been a Mario 2 fan. It’s been my favorite since I was a kid and it’s still my favorite today.
You should buy mario maker 2 then. I haven't played it myself but all the RUclips videos I watched says mario maker 2 feels like a whole brand new game since they added mario 2 mario.
Probably one of my favorite finds on your channel yet!
Wow! This is amazing! Just saw Russ Lyman pick up a Play choice 10 cab and now this! Congrats all around! Stellar stuff! Great video Rick!
Awesome grail pickup! I bought one 2 years ago at a garage sale in the tiny town I live in. It's missing the 2 front legs and no controller(s) but for what they were asking they practically made me buy it.
How much you pay?
😮 crt tv and nes on weekends
90s chill baby, i am born in 84 😊
Awesome score!! Probably one of my favorites in my collection. I only paid about $300 for mine a long time ago and helped find my buddy a complete one for a decent price.
thats so cool! Ill snag one one day!
I was totally yelling at the screen how to start it too! I still have my Nes that I bought with my own money in 1986. My grandsons still play it, it still has the orginal 72 pin. I play on my top loader.
I clicked on this video after youtube suggested it and then walked away for a few seconds. I came back and saw the cash register and was like holy crap that’s the comic book store I go to like three times a week! Shout out Tony he’s a great dude and deserves all the good comments
Such a rad store Tyler!! I’ll be back again soon
@@retrorick love that place. the owner and the employees are all so cool it’s more like just going to hang out with friends
On my OG NES, I always had to not only blow in the game cartridge but also wiggle it back and forth after it was inserted and pushed down in order to make a better connection with the contact points. Always worked after that.
You brought back all my childhood memories all in 1 video thanku!
This has the vibe of 2 dudes going to buy a rare vintage car lol
Agreed. German trash TV has lots of those shows and they...well, suck. xD
This video right here though was awesome. Two dudes having a good time getting some great stuff. Could watch more of this easily. Because it was all good fun ^^
I picked up an N64 VHS tape in the free box at a local thrift store recently.
oh nice! I never see them
I always feel right at home in these types of retro stores 🔥🔥
they are heavy lol My friend bought one when it was released. He was the only person I ever knew that bought one. It was like 400 and it was cheaper to buy a Nintendo system and Tv on their own. But it was a neat idea, his mother still has it. He passed away in 1998 and she kept his collection on NES, SuperNEs, and N64.
This thing is nuts! I never heard of anything like this before! I would LOVE to have this in my basement! Definitely a great buy in my opinion guys.
Seen one of these Sharp TVs at a local store and guy was asking $4,000. You got a steal here. Well done.
The worker at that store is the biggest geek....i love it!
At 10:01 I said to myself this dude knows exactly what he's doing. Did that a million times growing up in the early Nintendo era.
I found the first season of American Gladiators on DVD at my Goodwill this week. Talk about an awesome blast from the past find.
I don’t know what it is about the store worker but I love him sm 😂
Wow, what a cool Tv I've never heard of that before. That shop had some cool stuff :)
Boy had a hard time spending that $1000 lol.
I picked up that Sharp NES TV about 10 years ago from a garage sale for $100 and it came with both black controllers and has all 4 feet.
Still have it today. What is funny, I found that TV again at a garage sale a few years ago. But the lady was taking offers only and my buddy said he'd offer $500 at the time and she never called him back. She was even calling game stores asking what they would pay. I was at a GameStop and the phone rang and the clerk was confused about a Nintendo TV set they where asking what they would pay for. lol
BTW I also own a Sharp SF1 which is the Super Famicom TV combo.
The NES game pop push ALWAYS works! I’m sitting here yelling at the screen pop it! And boom turns on lol trust in the pop push. * not sure if there’s a real term for that but that’s what we called it*
Wow, such a great pickup! Honestly I would pay to just look at that TV
Looks like a pretty awesome antique shop. I love old gaming mags.
Totally awesomeness Brother. Super Happy You got Your vintage Gold! Thanks for sharing 😀👍❤🇨🇦🇺🇸🎉🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏👏🕹📺🎉🎉🎉🎉💯
Absolutely loved this episode!!! Definitely do more episodes going to stores like this :) I have a place that's just down the road from my house called Replay Toys and it is a trip down memory lane for me. They mostly sell retro toys but they have some NES, SNES, and Genesis games and consoles from time to time. Keep up the great videos!
Thank you retro Rick for a amazing episode!
of course...glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome episode & store 👏🏻
One of the local stores had one of these Sharp TVs for $400 3 years ago and I passed on it. I am just NOT a CRT fan. Like, at all. But super cool, great to see someone add one of these to their collection.
Oh man I love that Street Fighter Blanka GI Joe. Haven't seen one of those in a long time.
After two minutes I would have been like dude give me that f****** cartridge... 🤯
I'm from Charlotte NC and these Nintendo tvs were very popular there available at rent a center in the late 89s very early 90s. They were all thru the hoods
Cool video, I love the chemistry and humour between you guys.
So fun!! Thanks for taking us with!!
Retro you were “the man” man when you stepped in and got the game to blast off👏👏👏👏👏boom💥💥💥💥💥✌️Sweet
hahaha...the magic touch! Thanks for watching Stephanie!
Yahhhhhhh 🪄 magic✌️☺️
i know what he did the old click it in trick works every time
Loved this episode! You've got a great dynamic with Josh! 😀
Thanks!
Is it seriously that rare? My dad had one growing up in his bedroom that I used to play as a kid. I never thought anything of it.
It may be rare but for me not a $1000.00 rare. LOL
I remember when I was younger we had stayed at a hotel that had a tv with a built in console but can't remember anything about it. Definitely some awesome stuff
I sold one with all 4 feet and front covers, no og controller tho but I sold for 600 bucks about 5 years ago, the buyer was so happy which made me happy and thats what its all about
Congrats, the stock footage you used from Norms video is my friends Sharp TV, he lets norm use his stuff for videos panasonic Q, hot seat, rocker etc are all his. actually just saw TV yesterday, we do a podcast together. Small world.
Oh wow, that is so cool!
*Very* cool p/up! That sucker is quite rare! Chances are lots of these were e-cycled over the years.
You might find this #NES #retro fact interesting: Zelda 2 NES released in '89 in NA. But...at different months for Canada vs the US. US was December & Canada was late August. I know because I have the Canadian release. It was my 1st dual language release. Box & manual are both in English/French. Need to find & show my copy one day.
I somehow find it equally interesting that there's a comic book store that also sells vintage toys, vintage home video, and retro videogames. Wow.
(5:39) "it's pretty Sharp" 😳
(For context, I have more of an interest in comics than videogames, but then RUclips recommended this video to me and I couldn't help but to watch it)
(11:27) If I were to go there, that spinner rack would be one of the first things I'd walk up to, since my reading interests are more towards all ages and children's stuff, though in reality, i tend to go for more obscure stuff and indie comics.
Amazing finds, had both the tiger games when I was a kid but Ghostbusters was my favorite and of course is now hard to find
Come on man, you KNOW they weren't locked in at that $1k at that point. Awesome find. Didn't even know about these prior. Rick, I also sent you a DM on insta regarding a podcast I started! Thanks for the video man.
13:00 funniest back n forth lmaoo let someone thats gonna play it buy it retro rick lmaoooo
I didn't know those existed. Fun! I love when people really appreciate things.
They are so cool...i need one now!
@@retrorick I just found you’re channel. Love it! Subbed :)
There’s an awesome documentary on this thing on RUclips, I just watched it last month. I wanna say it was about $600 originally but didn’t sell well so Kmart took all the units and sold them for around $400. If I remember correctly.
If you’re ever in Georgia on the south side of Atlanta there’s a store I go to all the time called Full Circle Toys in Newnan Georgia. They have a separate store in the back for retro games. The prices have gone up but the store is so cool.
I missed a chance at buying one at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo a few years back for 3-400 bucks. I'm really kicking myself right now...
When I saw the sign I couldn’t believe it.. I use to go in this store when i lived in Arkansas. Got all my Rick and Morty comics from there
I remember seeing one of these displayed on the endcap of the video game aisle at K-mart when I was a kid. Me and my brother lost our shit, but the old man wasn't buying "that bullshit". It was sick af.
That Zelda Map is from the first issue of Nintendo Power - you could probably find an issue with the map for $70 or so. Such a cool store - I would have dropped so much coin at that store. Probably wouldn't have bought the Sharp TV though - such a neat piece of history to have. I'm sure he'll get a ton of enjoyment out of it.
I had that Alf puzzle when I was a kid!
Man I forgot all about Gamepro. It had so much attitude. It was a fun one.
I live a baseball's throw away from this place. Vortex is the name of the retro arcade and it's a real unique place. Sherwood, AR!
I saw one in person in an old Kmart in Hudson WI once back in the 90s wen they were closing. I think it was only for display even though they probably could have sold it at that point in the company's lifetime.
9:40
I remember those TVs with built-in VCR and it is a Sony. Because my dad owned one and it worked until 2018. Crazy right!
That buyer stress is real haha- I know that feeling lol
This was an awesome experience;) and that shop guy was cool
Great score, probably 2 months back I scouted out a SNES Arcade, with Super mario world, F zero, and Super Tennis in Seattle, sent the link to Siccooper and he picked it up. You should watch that episode of you haven't watched it.
3-D Print a new front door, awesome find!
