This is not just a song but a reflection of times gone by, encapsulation of an entire generation. When lives were simple, aspirations were small, expressions of love were subtle, possessions were cherished. I remember saving for months to buy this album. Songs gradually lost it's lyrics, music it's gravity, depth and authenticity, perfectly reflective of the mindless society we live in today.
Was feeling emotional listening to his song then came you comment which brought tears in my eyes ,correctly said that we are living in mindless and hatred society
The best thing about the comment section is We feel each other, We share same emotions, We all have grown together. Thank you to all of you for showering ur love and remembering our childhood. Love you all
I am 21 right now and from last 3 years I gradually experienced a shift towards the old songs.... Precisely the ones released before 2005 and even heard the songs from 1950's as well let it be Pakistani songs , Indian songs , American retro music . And I actually realised what my parents meant when they once said that music , lyrics and beats have lost all there meaning in the last 15 years !
Just saw Lucky Ali's new version of this amazing song, felt heartbroken when he stopped singing midway after mar bhi gaaye... Time destroys everything, nothing stays
It was 1996 I was 8 or 9. My father had come back from Oman, with a request from one of my cousins there, to buy Lucky Ali and Colonial Cousins' cassettes for him when he comes back. My father had bought both, but couldn't return due to a heart ailment that we found a few weeks later. I opened Sunoh's cassette, played in a single speaker tiny red color National cassette player. O Sanam was the first song that played. It's been with me ever since then. So has been Lucky Ali's music O Sanam, and Lucky Ali's music, also became what I consider to be my rooting in music, my fundamental baseline for what good music should be. O Sanam has also been the only song that I'd play whenever I'd buy a new speaker set, head phone, music player, computer or mobile phone.
This masterpiece was rejected by all the record labels at that time and the one called 'BMG Crescendo' which accepted it, also asked Lucky Ali to finance everything on his own because of distrust on it being hit. This not only explains that how much Lucky Ali was ahead of his time but also how stupid record labels were. As it turned out, this was one of the biggest hit even in 1996.
It's almost like the person (forgot who it was, an American for sure, but you get the idea, lol) who said that computers would not be a thing in the future and surprise surprise :)
Damn! never knew this .. This and sayoneee was huge hit back in those days.. Had faint memories of listening this in late 90s in summer holidays at my grandpa's house in vacation, I was merely 8 - 9 years old.
This comment section is actually like a get together or reunion of 90’s kids..! Love u guyz...!! Looots of love from kerala.. Missing those old golden days..❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
From listening in my walkman during the high school to listening here on youtube being middle aged and a mother of a child, this song is still with me. Back then, when I was a teenager, I just used to love the tune and shaan, but the more I grew up, the more it started hitting me. Now the song has become an entire memory lane for me 😥
The story here is The girl is related to the old man arrested by Feudal lord (Lucky Ali). She tries to make fake love relationship with him. The leader falls in love with her. She betrays the true love and freeds the old man. So as a punishment the leader had to kill her. In the present time the leader is reborn and returns to the same place as archeologist and remembers the incident through the "KEY". Archeologist (Lucky) is grief-stricken with how the events turned out and throws the key away in a symbolic gesture to free it all. In the end, once again the two men, the feudal lord and the prisoner are shown chilling together with tea and hookah. They clearly have no memory of their past lives. Time conquers all.
there was a time when i thought this song was the greatest ever ... there could never be another song like this. as a teenager i thought this is the pinnacle of music. im 32 now and i think it still stands true.
And the best singer award goes to the most unique, underated , brilliant , smart big heart, dashing, Innocent Mr Lucky Ali Sir.. Give him a Big round of applause 👏 😍

The Story of the Song: We can see an old man is brought before a Masked Lord (Lucky Ali), The lord imprisons the old man. Now, the girl is related to the old man imprisoned by the lord, so in order to free him she fakes a love relationship with him and while the lord is sleeping she steals the key and frees the old man. Accordingly, later in the song we can see she is brought before the lord and as a punishment he had to kill her even though he loved her. In the present life the lord (Lucky Ali) is reborn as Archaeologist and when he stumbles upon the key, he remembers everything, his heartbreak, that girl which brings him pain. Later we can see lucky ali throws away the key in which he accepts the truth of life "Milke Bichadna Dastoor hogaya" finally he is at peace. In the starting we se an old man and Lucky Ali enjoying Hookah and Tea, having no idea that the old man in his previous life was imprisoned by Lucky Ali, whereas lucky Ali having no clue that the old man caused him his biggest heartbreak in his previous life
Today's generation will never understand this feeling. Nostalgia, you can say or whatever. I was 9 years old when this song came out, 25 years ago. This is the kind of music that we need and as long as we keep coming back to this masterpiece, we'll know that we lived in a magical time.
I must have been 15 or 16. My sister went to college in India and camr back with a few cassettes for Ali. I was instantly hooked! Too bad this genre didn't pick up.
None of the singers in this generation can bring back the charm that used to be there in 90's song .. Voice of Lucky Ali is enough to ease your brain 🧠...
I will be honest..I didn't hear this masterpiece before. I m here after Lucky Ali's recent viral video nd I am ashamed to not have heard this masterpiece before
Early 2000s, just come back from the field, evening snacks are being made, rushing to take possession of the remote, switching channels to MTV having no worries in mind, and moments later "O Sanam"... O sanam tere pyar ki kasam....my fvrt line
Absolutely right bro

I am 21 right now and from last 3 years I gradually experienced a shift towards the old songs.... Precisely the ones released before 2005 and even heard the songs from 1950's as well let it be Pakistani songs , Indian songs , American retro music . And I actually realised what my parents meant when they once said that music , lyrics and beats have lost all there meaning in the last 15 years !

Yes i am born in 20's
But my mind & heart is in 90's ☺️✨
It was 1996
I was 8 or 9.
So has been Lucky Ali's music
O Sanam, and Lucky Ali's music, also became what I consider to be my rooting in music, my fundamental baseline for what good music should be.
O Sanam has also been the only song that I'd play whenever I'd buy a new speaker set, head phone, music player, computer or mobile phone.
Great yar

Literally no one can replace this masterpiece
This masterpiece was rejected by all the record labels at that time and the one called 'BMG Crescendo' which accepted it, also asked Lucky Ali to finance everything on his own because of distrust on it being hit.
This not only explains that how much Lucky Ali was ahead of his time but also how stupid record labels were. As it turned out, this was one of the biggest hit even in 1996.
Yeah it was on Top MTV Asia top 10 for many many weeks ! Then
Woah ...never knew about this.thanks 👍🏼
Yes this info is written in his book only 😅😅😅
It's almost like the person (forgot who it was, an American for sure, but you get the idea, lol) who said that computers would not be a thing in the future and surprise surprise :)
Damn! never knew this .. This and sayoneee was huge hit back in those days.. Had faint memories of listening this in late 90s in summer holidays at my grandpa's house in vacation, I was merely 8 - 9 years old.

From listening in my walkman during the high school to listening here on youtube being middle aged and a mother of a child, this song is still with me. The story here is
The girl is related to the old man arrested by Feudal lord (Lucky Ali).

ओ सनम इन 90s के गानोकी कसम...
The Story of the Song:
We can see an old man is brought before a Masked Lord (Lucky Ali), The lord imprisons the old man.
