    Huge congrats on finishing the basket of shame!!! I'm so happy you managed to do that before the end of the year ❤ I discovered your channel a few months ago and really enjoy how you talk about your knitting - I'll definitely be staying for the new year as well :D I hope you could enjoy the time "between the years" (as we say in Germany) so far, have gotten a lot of knitting time in as well as time with your family. :) See you next year!

    Just frog the sleeve, then sew the armholes to the right size from underneath.
    Amazing how much you have knitted, so many great Christmas gifts! Wishing you and your family a very happy and prosperous new year!

    Your basket of shame was really helpful for me. While you were weaving in ends at the end of your videos, I was tacking down steeks, sewing buttons, and weaving in the occasional end. Please keep a section of your videos to weave in your ends in 2025, you keep us motivated.

    • @norwegianknitter

      It's definitely a segment I'm going to keep! I might knit on the wedding dress some if I have no ends to weave in too!

    Hooray, the basket is empty! That must be a wonderful feeling!!! It sounds like you would really like to frog back and redo the sleeves on your Christmas sweater and you would probably be happier with the result, but whatever you decide I know you will make it work! And with your wedding less than two months away❤I think you should finish the dress as soon as possible so that you can then step away from it for a bit.
    - then on the wedding day you can put it on with fresh eyes and see yourself in your beautiful brand new wedding dress that you made! I wish you and your family the most wonderful new year ahead and thank you for everything you have shared with us this year🙂

    Merry Christmas and a great start into the new year!
    Before frogging the christmas sweater, try sewing up a few cm under the armhole to make it smaller. In the end, that is the same as joining front and back earlier. With the yarn you're using, that should be almost invisible and way less work!

      @ would you please do a video on your favourite/recommended knits for children, including which yarns you recommend for kids clothes?
      I knit A LOT for my children when they were babies and mostly used superwash merino or cashmere/merino blends but haven’t made anything for them in a while now. I’m keen to learn which knits have been hits with your son and which fibres he prefers?

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  11 часов назад

      @amimay574 Yes, I can definitely do that! But I have to say that my son isn't picky when it comes to what I knit for him or the fiber I use.
      He cares a bit more about how interesting it looks now that he's older, but not at all about the fiber. And he's happy as long as he knows who knit it honestly, I think it makes him feel very loved❤️

    I personally would frog the sweater. The sleeves do seem quite large. It looks like it would knit up quickly and be worth the extra effort, and you will have a sweater you love. A suggestion for when you are knitting your wedding dress, because it is so large try knitting on your bed, this is what I do when I am knitting a large item and it is heavy. My dogs are not allowed on the bed when I am knitting😄. Have a lovely new year💕

    Godt nytt år til deg og familien din, Oline. Happy New Year to you and Your family. Håper du tar en dag eller to og strikker mest mulig på brudekjolen, får den ferdig, Gøy å se prosessen, og hvor fin den blir. Tror nok julegenseren vil bli finest om du rekker opp igjen slik at armene blir litt smalere, og de står bedre i stil med (proposjon til) resten av genseren, slik du selv nevner, selv om det er kjedelig. Selv hatrer jeg å rekke opp. Flott av deg å bli klar med gavene og ikke minst feste alle trådene på det som lå i kurven. Dette vsr 2 mål du hadde, som du klarte. Det skal du være stolt av. Du strikker mye, flotte klær til deg, familien og gaver. veldig gøy å se alt fint du strikker. Inspirerer, og som godt voksen, som har strikket siden jeg var ca 8 år, blir jeg alltid glad når yngre strikker. Igjen, Godt Nytt År, nyt fruktene av alt flott du har strikket.

      Godt nytt år! Nå når alt roer seg skal jeg nok få satt av ihvertfall en dag til å strikke på brudekjolen mellom alt annet👰 Det har vært litt av en prosess!
      Jeg tror jeg har funnet en løsning på å gjøre ermene smalere, men med minimalt med opprekk! Jeg vil fortsatt ha en genser med vide ermer, men som du sier må det stå i stil.
      Veldig glad jeg har klart å nå 2 av målene mine! Nå blir det spennende å se om jeg når flere mål før nyttår🙈
      Tusen takk❤️

    Oline, don't frog it! Instead frog the sleeve and use the mattress stitch to make the circumference of the sleeve smaller. Although you will sacrifice two stitches, it won't impact the body and the sleeves will be smaller. I use this technique to fix the same issue.

    I’m curious, do you follow Arne and Carlos who are Norwegian as well. I am assuming you knit like them, doing purl from the back instead of throwing to the front as we English knitters do. I need to switch I think, Norwegian knitting seems so much quicker and more efficient.

    • @norwegianknitter
      @norwegianknitter  3 дня назад

      I do not follow them, but I have their Christmas ornament book. I don't do the Norwegian purl, I think what I'm doing is called continental purl? Switching up might be quicker in the long run, but I've knit the same way for 16 years now, so I don't think I'll ever change❤️

    Hello, I hate telling people what to do with their knits. It’s too personal, and everyone’s tolerance for frogging is different. But if it’s so bad that you would never wear it then go for it. Personally it didn’t look that bad, but for warmth it may be too oversized? Best wishes for the New Year! ClaudiaSJI

    Lovely red dress. Why don't you just rip the sleeve back on your red sweater and kitchener the side seam higher to make the armhole smaller? The small vertical seam would be under your arms, and you wouldn't have to rip back to before the sleeve separation. Either that, or make the sleeve very wide as a style element and put a long ribbing cuff to cinch it in.
    Get back to the wedding dress. It won't require decisions and your future self will thank you.
