Great explanation Jaron aka "Jahronmon". For everyone out there still having difficulties understanding the process hopefully this simplifies it. - There are 14 balls numbered 1 through 14 for the 14 teams that didn't make it to the playoffs. - In the draft 4 balls are selected each time, creating 1001 different combinations using those 14 numbers i.e. 1,2,3,4 or 14,1,2,5 etc.. - Instead of 1001, the league uses 1000 combinations to make it comparable to 100% and randomly assigns those combinations to teams. - What that means is: NY, Cleveland and Phoenix, which have a 14% chance to get the first pick, each get 140 different combinations; the Lakers, which only have a 2% chance of getting the top pick will only get 20 combinations. - The only team that is guaranteed a top 5 pick in the draft is the team with the worst record: 2019- NY
I was confused when I saw this in my feed. Thought it was just my RUclips messing up, saying a Jahronmon video was from the NBA channel, but no. Great to see my boy moving on up
So it’s kinda like every team has a certain amount of lottery tickets. The top teams have the most while the teams closer to the 14th slot have the least. The NBA starts by drawing a four number combination for the top pick. One of the 14 teams has that same 4 number combination and it matches. They win the lottery. Then the same thing is done for the second and third picks. The rest of the draft is structured according to records. Let me know if that makes more sense.
Not really u incentivise teams to tank. Competitive balance is protected this way the reason it works in the NFL is because 1 player had less impact on a overall team’s success than in the NBA and that’s because there are wayyy more players and positions which is why there’s a larger draft and why the system works

This still makes no sense, and the new odds are dumb, I know there trying to prevent tanking but for only one of the bottom 3 teams (14% chance each to get no. 1) to make it in top 4 this year and it only being the number 3 spot for Knicks then the system is flawed. This lottery is going cause bad teams to stay bad for a long time. Tanking isn't as big a problem as they think. Bottom 3 should be guaranteed a top 4 spot with worst team having best chance at 1 if they must have a lottery. Last night was a joke
"This lottery is going to cause bad teams to stay bad for a long time" What a joke statement. The past 3 drafts, the suns has had the 1st, 4th, and 4th round picks and they are still bad. Don't blame the lottery, blame bad organizations who trade their picks away, sign bad deals, and have tanking as their scapegoat.
@Austin Lau You're right it dosn t mean that a team will draft right, and the cleveland browns have proved that worst teams getting the best picks dosnt always work out either but they may have finally figured it out. This new format is really going to hurt some teams for a long time, especially the teams free agents don't want to go to
So does the NBA just give the combinations to each team, or do the team representatives actually pick the combinations, cuz if NBA arrange the combinations then the representatives actually didn’t do anything other than attend the draft lottery
With the 1-and-Done policy in place, the lottery is outdated. You can’t expect NBA franchises to survive by selecting from a larger pool of unproven commodities. Sure, you’re going to have one offs like Wemby, but you’re going to have a TON of James Wiseman and Killian Hayes types now as well. The lottery needs to go away forever in favor of selecting via a traditional formula of worst team picking first. Stop with the silliness of having a game show like event and get down to the business of helping make really bad teams competitive. This isn’t 1985 when Pat Ewing entered the league as a proven college player with championship pedigree. Nowadays it’s like pulling a name out of a hat for players that will take 4 to 5 years to develop mentally and physically.
What I want to know is can a team get full of players and can't get anymore or like how do they let go of players is it just like hey new draft is coming your leaving the team for a replacement

Kris Skora there are 30 teams in the league. The league has a soft salary cap. It’s possible to go over the cap with a few loopholes. Going over the cap results in penalties like paying luxury taxes to the other 29 teams in the league. One of the biggest loopholes given to teams to go over the cap is the ability to resign players that you’ve drafted. Every year there is a draft to select the best pro prospects from college and overseas. The draft is two rounds and every team is assigned one pick. Teams are allowed to include their draft picks in trades. Teams are not allowed to trade first round picks in consecutive years. If a draft pick is traded then the pick’s ultimate spot in the draft is still determined by the original team’s record. The best team at the moment is the Golden State Warriors. They have been to 4 straight NBA finals. They’ve won two straight championships. They’ve won 3 out of the last 4 championships. They have 3 of the greatest outside shooters of all time in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant. The other good teams in the leagues are the teams with the other great players. The Los Angeles Lakers are popular but not very good at the moment. They’re popular because of their rich winning tradition and now have Lebron James. The other great players in the league are the Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, James Harden of the Houston Rockets, Kawhi Leonard of the Toronto Raptors, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers, and many others.

God doesn’t want anybody in hell because He loves us, but you must understand why we deserve hell and why those who refuse to live under His authority will go there. We’ve all sinned (Romans 3:23), and the the law demands death for those who sin (Romans 6:23). Jesus is Holy and sinless, yet He received our sin when He died on the cross, so that we can be righteous before God (2 Corinthians 5:21). When He died on the cross, He said “It is finished” (John 19:30), which means He paid the full price for all of your sins (past, present, and future) to be forgiven. He was buried and rose again from the dead. God will forgive anybody who puts their full trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. We aren’t saved based on our good deeds, but only by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8-9). His precious blood that He shed is the only reason why we can be forgiven of our sins (Hebrews 9:22). If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead, then you’ll be saved (Romans 10:9). You are born-again with the Spirit of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), and are not only legally justified before God, but also are accredited His righteous (Romans 4:24). Believers live for Christ now, so get to know Him through His Word.
